Why is there so much walking?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 8:27 pm

I have only beaten the Vampire side, I'm working my way through the DG side now on my second play through. I find that some of the quests just have you walking super long for no reason. Like the one in the Vale to get the water or the one in the Soul place to kill the keepers. It's kinda boring to have to walk so much. How do i get the summonable horse?

They do it for exploration purposes. Its a good thing. Take time to explore and see the sights.

The dlc is so short and rushed they make you walk long distances so the dlc seems longer.

But is lame when I have to walk 5-7 minutes in a purple desert of nothing 3 times for one quest. Then it is even lamer when I walk through a snowy valley fo nothing for 5-10 minutes.

There's a lot in these two areas to explore and find. Have you found the portal that leads to Aurei el's shield, and the hidden books? Have you found Arvak's skull and the various new conjuration spells in the soul cairn, or the reaper and so on? Look around, man. Then you'd find your horse. This aint COD Black Ops. Gotta explore. Its an open world for you to enjoy.

I found the head of a horse, but there is no world map so it is hard to find my way around to where to turn it in.

Says the one who walks pass the diving dragons...
The reasoning for the long walking distances is exploration purposes, for example the Paragons that you loot from the Snow Giants.

The guy spawns next to you in that exact area after you pick it up. Please just use your eyes man, I like missions with not a lot of hand holding. Posts like this will just make more and more games even simpler.

I didn't like having a world map there either I just wanted to get it over with, the place looked awesome but I just want to kill those three people, get my soul back then get out of there

Is he a purple soul person? They don't talk to me ever. They only mumble stuff about being dead. Having a map for that area would be nice.

Its the same guy you spoke to to get the mission. He yells at you when you go near him.

There's your problem. Search around the area close to the entrance to the soul cairn. That's where I found him, but it could be random. I found him there every playthrough though.

Valid point, if you fast travel to each place you need to be you cut the length of time of the DLC in half if not more ;)

I think he only offers the quest once you done the main quest line part in that area and are on your way back.

Naw, I got it before. Must be random, since I got it on my way after main quest line was finished on my first playthrough.

Yes. And I also feel it was too much walking, especially in the Vale. The Vale is cool, but it was a lot of empy space for the sake of nothing. The dragon fight was cool though.
