Why use magic...

when an armour skill, one handed, smithing and enchanting turns you into a god?

Because, as I've been finding out, its very very fun. Whats not to love about sending fireball after exploding fireball slamming home into a group of enemies? Or having an enemy charge headlong at you thinking "Awesome, squishy mage is squishy" only for the alteration school and mage armour to completely reverse that situation? Hell, throw dual dremora into that mix as well!

I only want spellcrafting because I want a more powerful version of flames. <3 that spell!

How people love to not read anything properly just to suit their own arguments. I am against the crafting loop, even though it's Beth's responsibility to patch it.

I NEVER SAID that I use the loop, nor did I advise it. I wrote that that the build doesn't require the crafting loop to be massively overpowered whatsoever, without even using things like +smithing enchantments, such as Destruction does (unless exploiting Impact).

All skills should be equally useful, they all require the same perk investment, so why not? However they are not. The build I showed combines all the best skills in the game, and it's by no means an odd build that nobody would choose to take. Its a warrior build with enchanting, for crying out loud.

At some point, you need to learn comprehension and accept that Skyrim isn't perfect. Crafting needs to be toned down, especially Alchemy, and certain skills, like Destruction, need buffed.

That is the point of this thread, summarised into a sentence on how one can easily make the game laughably easy without even meaning to.

Completely ineffective skills aren't fun, I don't want to have to stack spell cost reduction to use Destro. or spam firebolt with the impact perk, how boring. Fun comes with balance, Beth needs to realise this.

But how is running up to an enemy, out-tanking them and outdoing them in terms of power output any better than the destro things you just mentioned? Horses for courses...

I'd also argue that destro is far from completely ineffective. Missing the capability to deal damage equivalent to a IC Missile Bombardment maybe, but FAR from ineffective. After all the fuss I've been shocked at how effective it actually is!

Why use magic? For hitting things that are far away when you can't use a bow worth crap. Your one-handed "god" of a character's going to get owned by a dragon that refuses to land, just keeps blowing fire at him.

I use magic, because I'm a cherry tapper and it's the least OP way to fight in the game. The AI don't feel shame, but I feel a bit of satisfaction defeating Big Bad Al in a loincloth in under a minute, on Master. I bet your character is a badass, in capped out armor, with Berseker Rage, and weapons that do thousands of damage per strike. Somehow, taking down the toughest fights with 100 health, and spells that do at most 75 damage makes ME feel like more of a badass.

Also, no playable build runs faster than an Altmer in robes with nothing but magic in her hands. As much of this game involves running between quests, and fights, I really enjoy this, not to mention the ability to dodge arrows. You can also run full tilt with firebolts flying from each hand. No perks, straight outta Helgen, as soon as you can hit up Farengar, or Faralda to cough up the tomes. Eventually, you can do this with a bow, or shield up, but it requires quite an investment to get there.

Invisibility isn't exactly a unique effect. You can do it with Alchemy, or even Vampire Dust without taking up a hand, or using your Magicka. I still use it, the nightblade serial backstab of everyone in the room while they run around wondering WTO is going on is just too much fun, but it's certainly not enough to get into magic.

Use it because you like it, or don't because you don't. It's just that simple.

Don't tell me to "learn comprehension" because you ask a question and found out people have opinions that differ from yours. Who on this thread said Skyrim's perfect, no one. Are you sure WE are the ones reading what we want out of this?

Why use anything in this game... when I could set it on novice go naked, punching people turns me into a God???

It's 'cause of people like this that they continue to "streamline" games. Why bother making a lot of spells available in TES VI... if one handed, smithing and enchanting turns you into a god... "We'll just make 3 destruction spells, fire, ice and lighting. Upgrade? Why bother, most people will use 1h"

To roleplay, and you do know that enchanting is a branch of magic right?
