Why is my wife sleeping in the basemant?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:41 am

Ive gotten it in ysoldas tiny house sleeping in a single bed, the only one in there, so long as she was in the house when i woke up. Got it everytime I slept at hjerim with my wife in the house. Ok just tested on my new guy thats married to Borgakh the steel heart. Kept her living at "her house" which is her dads longhouse in the or stronghold of Mor Khazgur. Like three other people live there in the house besides her and its all single beds except her dads (the chief). I wait until night and she goes inside, find her sitting at a table then go sleep in a bed for eight hours. Wake up with lovers comfort. Then I told her move to proudspire manor, then I fast travel there and wait 24 hours after I go in. I dont even see where she is and go sleep in my bed 8 hours and awake woth lovers comfort.

I need to check this then. When married to Ysolda I had her move into my Whiterun house, so she is always there. I know that sometimes you don't get the message but the perk is active (you have to check your stats to see it). I'll try just sleeping with her 'in the house' and see if the perk is active when I wake up.

Only married My dragonborn once and it was farkas.. big mistake. rofl
Skyrim killed everything that make a good relationship to flourish, next time My nord will marry an iceberg or not one, this isn't dragon age to be thinking of any type of relationships.
You're character can make very good food+ enchants+ potions.. no need for 1 a day meal me think.

My wife has only slept once since the marriage and even then I still didn't get it.

I read somewhere on these forums that if you're not getting the lover's comfort perk, you should tell your spouse you want to move to their place. Sleep there for the night and then the following day, move back to wherever you want to be your home. That should get it going :)

As I understand it (haven't tested yet though), there is a bug with the Lover's Comfort buff, and a workaround.

Seems you won't get it unless you sleep in your spouse's home first. So, tell her or him that you'd like to move to their place, sleep there with them at least once (or until you actually get the buff), then tell them you want to move back to your house. You should be able to get it each time after that.

Note that (again, as I understand) you only need to sleep in the same house your spouse lives in to get the buff. You don't have to sleep in the same while they are sleeping.

EDIT: Hmm, guess I missed the post above me before posting. I honestly didn't intend to basically repeat that.

Well, don't feel bad. I married Balimund in Riften. You know the blacksmith. What doe he do? He quits his job as a blacksmith and decides to open a business doing what he wants.... Alchemist????? Did he get tired of seeing Sonja going over there and making better stuff? And he's all "yes, dear." "yes, sweetie." "hi, honey." Of course how does a man feel married to the Dragonborn? What's he thinking? And knowing she's the head of the Dark Brotherhood? And a werewolf. Probably "Try not to piss her off. She can be a real b**** at times."

To be honest, I have the same problem with Proudspire manor. I married someone for the hell of it without saving, and they did the same thing to me... so I ended up reloading anyway. I feel like they forget to put in the stuff for your housecarl to live... for the longest time I thought the storage room with the sleeping roll was going to be the housecarl's quarters. It would have been more useful than unopenable crates, in my opinion.

Also, because my housecarl never sleeps. She just watches the front door all day like a gargoyle.

Sorry to Necro this thread, but the basemant room of Proudspire is indeed supposed to be your housecarl's room. All of the furniture and such are placed when viewed in the CK, it just was not scripted correctly to swap the items once you paid for them ingame.

Here is what it is http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/486624373470404431/6C8849C779A563FA8F0275B8C6A5CF32368C3F75/.

Why Bethesda has put effort into fixing the weapons racks in Proudspire, but not the entire housecarl room, is anyone's guess.

This http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=9685 that fixes it.

I just bought Proudspire Manor. I wish I could sell the thing. I hate the house. Come on. Three floors??? That's a lot of stairs. Maybe she's got arthritic knees.

Too much arrow in the knees can seriously do that. That's why I have a specialized knee armor, to help protect my knees from arrows penetrating the to the knee. I wish I can sell them to prevent more people from becoming guards.

You could have fixed that without reloading. One handed increased.

Yeah it's a glitch that happens in the Solitude Manor. The bedroll is meant for the Housecarl but why does the Manor Housecarl sleep in a bedroll in the cellar when the Housecarls of other houses sleep in comfy beds?

This was answered yesterday. Also, the housecarls are supposed to sleep, but never do, nor do they use their assigned rooms. Well, Lydia does, if you add a chair in there. Iona has the busiest life of the housecarls: she likes to cook!

Current character married Iona and has Honeyside. Went in to sleep and get the bonus and couldn't find her. I actually found her in her room in the basemant. My previous characters who have her as a thane have never seen her in her room. She is either in the kitchen or sitting by the master bed. I know after marriage I chose for us to live in Honeyside so I didn't know what was going on. I opened dialogue and picked the move house option and reselected Honeyside. Now she is sleeping upstairs. So the short answer is to reselect the house you want to live in and see what happens.
