Why is my wife sleeping in the basemant?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:45 pm

So, I recently married Camilla Valerius and moved her into my house in Solitude. The first time I stopped by it was the middle of the night so I expected to find her asleep in the bedroom, but she was nowhere to be seen. Finally I checked the basemant and I found her sleeping on an old sleeping bag in a storage room. What gives? Did we have a fight that I was too drunk to remember? Does Skyrim not have community property laws? Is she simply trying to be respectful of the close relationship that Lydia and have developed over time? But seriously, how do I move her upstairs into the classy part of the house? There is a dialogue option to move to a different house but nothing to let her know that she can live upstairs with me. Also, she will buy/sell items, but we have never discussed her opening a business and I get no dialogue options to get my share of the profits. Anyone know of a solution for these items?

Spouses sleeping anywhere have been an issue with me. One of the main benefits is the Lover's Rest perk you get for sleeping with your spouse. Well I wanted to do some smithing at the forge right outside my house in Whiterun. I figured I'd get the perk first then do the smithing. Well I followed my wife around for 3 in-game days before I finally gave up. To date only twice in 320 hours of play have I been able to get this perk. I thought spouses would be on a normal schedule, but apparently they like to eat and read all night long. :(

I just bought Proudspire Manor. I wish I could sell the thing. I hate the house. Come on. Three floors??? That's a lot of stairs. Maybe she's got arthritic knees. My knees hurt just walking around the place. And the sleeping bag. I assume you gave that for your housecarl? So if your spouse is sleeping in the sleeping bag where is your housecarl sleeping?

There's no bedroom furniture for your housecarl??? Well the Riften house doesn't even have a sleeping bag. I guess your housecarl sleeps in the hay. Lydia has a bedroom, but she watches you, and watches you, and watches you. But I've noticed housecarls eat bread.

and really... do you really need any share of the profits from her business?

I know right? I've yet to get the Lovers Comfort perk. My wife has only slept once since the marriage and even then I still didn't get it.

Imagine how cool this game would be if everything actually worked right? I swear, it seems like everything you work hard to achieve in this game is all for not sometimes.

Ive gotten it in ysoldas tiny house sleeping in a single bed, the only one in there, so long as she was in the house when i woke up. Got it everytime I slept at hjerim with my wife in the house. Ok just tested on my new guy thats married to Borgakh the steel heart. Kept her living at "her house" which is her dads longhouse in the or stronghold of Mor Khazgur. Like three other people live there in the house besides her and its all single beds except her dads (the chief). I wait until night and she goes inside, find her sitting at a table then go sleep in a bed for eight hours. Wake up with lovers comfort. Then I told her move to proudspire manor, then I fast travel there and wait 24 hours after I go in. I dont even see where she is and go sleep in my bed 8 hours and awake woth lovers comfort.

I always thought that room was supposed to be for your housecarl too, but Jordis literally never sleeps. Every time I show up at the house she is sitting around eating and telling me that she hopes I am not planning to cause any trouble. Honestly she has a very impressive figure for someone who just eats all day long and never stands up. Maybe Camilla just feels like someone ought to get some use out of that sleeping bag? And as for the money, no, I don't really need it. It was more of a curiosity because I thought the standard thing was that spouses ask/tell you that they are planning to start a business.

Don't you worry about Sven. After I decided to Marry Camilla, I helped him get Faendal kicked to the curb. Then, I took Sven as a follower and intentionally placed him in highly dangerous situations until he was killed in a crossfire. My wife will not be receiving any "gentleman callers" while I am away.

When I've owned Honeyside it's always had a room for Iona. It's in the basemant by the alchemy lab and the arcane enchanter.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. The next night I went down to the basemant and closed the door just before bedtime. This seemed to fix the problem and she joined me in the bed upstairs. Didn't get the lovers comfort bonus when I woke up though.

A far more disturbing question is why I found Olfrid Battle-born sleeping with his son, and his wife standing right outside the bedroom door.

She doesn't want to sleep in the same bed as smelly old you. Really, when's the last time you took a bath after all that cave diving in those abandoned crypts and getting trenched in the blood of your foes?

Sounds like some of you aren't married. After 30 plus years of a very succesful marriage we get along much better if one of us is sleeping in the basemant. Although when it's my turn for the basemant... and I get 99.99% of the turns... I usualy wind up in the dog house. I have yet to be married in Skyrim and and not waiting around to be in a virtual doghouse

Heh. I'm sure husband would probably agree with you, though after 36 years the rule is that even if we're FLAMING angry at each other, we kiss and make up before bedtime. Saves setting the house on fire....

And.... I have ZERO interest in marriage in Skyrim. Just.... SPARE me.

That's probably it. That or sleep-shouting, she got tired of getting Fus Ro Dah-ed across the room a couple times per night.

Yea, Honeyside does have a fully furnished Housecarl room, although Iona NEVER uses it! I guess she is afraid to climb the stairs...

But yea, I always wondered about that basemant room in Solitude. Why doesn't it come furnished? Go figure... lol
