Why would giant's attack my property?

Hmmmmm......fence......GIANTS......it might just be me, but you might want to rethink that strategy

You would be surprised at what a fence can deter...

Another possibility is that some giants are violent and aggressive. You periodically receive a bounty on a specific giant, possibly because he's stopped being peaceful and started killing livestock or people.

Another question: all the giants seem to be male... so how do they reproduce?

There's your answer.

Well yeah, but if you manage to build the house without being attacked, you obviously aren't in their territory.

You walking around their camps is one thing. You building a home in their territory is another thing. Also keep in mind that you can have livestock around your house. Giants can see that as easy food for them. Just because a Giant walking along the road wont attack you, does not mean that they are all peaceful. Remember, they are much bigger than you. And their mentality likely reflects that.

I still don't get beth on this one. I thought giant's are supposed to be generally peaceful, but territorial creatures. If you came up close to them, they would attack you, but if you kept your distance, they would leave you alone.

So then why would they try to attack my home? I don't get it.

For the same reasons vampires attack cities in Dawnguard or 9 out of 10 NPCs in Skyrim are roadside bandits. Modern games must keep the players constantly busy pushing triggers and killing stuff because it's so fun! (sarcasm warning)

You do remember the giant you encounter when going to Whiterun the first time, right? that is also on a farm and their camp is kinda a long way from there.. Maybe they like to steal cattles and seen in the Hearthfire trailer, we also have some.

Ahh that is what you would think.

If you have played Fallout 3 you would think that the Super Mutants are Male too.

Even giants have their rogue jerks. While the species might be peaceful on the whole, the guys attacking your homestead are bandits writ large.

The very first time I played Skyrim I was ambushed by three giants just because I was walking in between them 'on the road' like a good girl.
Took me a second to die.
Ever since I've been traumatized by these giants.
Second time I saw a giant, a dragon attacked and disturbed the peace so the giant decided to attack me instead!

So, no, giants don't like my character. Ever since those two encounters I've started killing them... and it made me rich! They always carry a lot of money + when dead their chest remains unattended. Now that I've got lots and lots of money to spare after hundreds and hundreds of playing hours Hearthfire is just what I need! ;-)

I wish we could just build a fence to keep intruders out. I don't want to be responsible about protecting my house or family.

You'd make a great husband and father....

"what's that dear? you and the children have been sixually assaulted?"

"yes dear, i won't stop bleading"

"oh well, I don't want to be responsible about protecting my house or family"

Will the 11-foot giant behind the 10-foot fence give me neighborly advice?
