will Crysis PC be just a port of the others?

We all know about the "real time development/conversion on all 3 platforms thing".
But thats just real time scaling to fit for each platform. There must be a "base" version in which the creator is actually working. Then the whole thing is real time scaled in 2 other windows "for Ps3 and Xbox360" to fit. But the technical base on all 3 platforms has to be the same.
So this real time conversion thing doesnt mean that the Pc Versions -visual quality isnt affected by the consoles. Because if there would be features in the "base" version that consoles are not capable of the engine couldnt convert it. And that is why big areas with a jungle setting wouldnt work for Crysis 2. Because the single versions would differ too much.

I think thats the point of the topic... so far.

It's exactly that. The PC game is of course slightly nerfed in terms of level design size. But that doesn't matter, bigger is not always better (apart from more player in a battlefield game)! If i'm to be perfectly honest my favourite level in crysis was exodus! It wasn't the biggest map but it was a very well put together level, which really blended the sandbox gameplay and story together perfectly and one of my other favourites was the carrier! If a shift to smallers map creates a game of the quality of those levels i would be over the moon with crysis 2.

Still that is an entire other discussion.
There are a lot of games that are developped for console and later ported to PC. Including those stupid on screen navigationbutton suggestions for the console. (press X for shooting, press 0 for jumping etc). This is not the case in Crysis2. So no, the PC is not a port of the consoleversion.

PC games obviously aren't profitable, which is why steam shut down, blizzard went bankrupt, crytek collapsed after making crysis and that's why there aren't any PC exclusives.

I'm off to play civilization V

P.S. If modern warfare 2 was released at a reasonable price and didn't svck more balls than a ten pence hoker overall i'm sure it'd have actually sold more copies on PC. PC gamers are just generally far more pickier, and being more technically proficient they can pirate. Whereas a large number console gamers probably only have the technically ability to put a disc in the correct way.

However you look at it though, a PC game that had a terrible reception from the PC player base still sold over 1 million copies. The PC playerbase is huge (you're looking at 100m+ pc gamers), but far more diverse, the generic twitch shooter NRA playerbase is far more limited so when you look at the sales of those games you'll definitely get less PC players. Whereas games like battlefield bad company 2 which require a bit more thought and teamwork sell just as well on PC.

Steam shut down? Are you living in a cave or something? Steam is doing VERY well and is up and running just fine.

Crysis has sold over 3 million copies by now.

3 million x $50 (don't know where you got $60, Talon) = $150,000,000 .... which isn't bad considering the development of Crysis 1 cost $27 million.

Surely, surely you saw the sarcasm? the first paragraph states nothing but junk and the second mini paragraph says i'm off to play a pc exclusive game that's making lots of money.

Steam dinged 30m users recently too, which makes it bigger than xbl :)

Crysis2 is not even out yet, so how can it be sold 3,000,000 times?

Anyway, in all these calculations, you forget the publisher... which takes a big part of the pie ;)

We are talking about the original Crysis sales.

And yes, I made a couple mistakes in my calculations... xD
