So will dorfs ever be a playable race?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 5:05 am

Or are they gone entirely? I absolutely love Markath - or however the dwarf city is spelled - and it seems natch that the dorfs haven't gone extinct but have some simply withdrawn from the world untill such a time they feel they're ready to re-emerge. Hell, it would make for some good drama to see them re-emerge in force and take on the Empire and/or any other contenders. In my 20 odd years of gaming - PnP, MUDs, MMOs, etc. I've always prefered playing dwarfs and gnomes. It'd be cool to see them in the world once more.

Oh, BTW, dwarfs in the Elder Scrolls series aren't actually short people. They are just another race of elves.

Can you imagine Dorf swinging away at a Nord with a two-hander?

All of the Dwemerl died after the Kagrenac incident. Except 1. They turned to ash.

If they come back, they won't be what you're expecting anyway. They're just a bearded high elf.

The "dwarves" look like altmer with funny beards and hairstyles. Slightly stockier, but not necessarily any shorter.

If I remember right from fighting Dwemer ghosts in MW, they were actually shorter than Altmer but are about the same height as the average man or mer.

The Dwemer (dwarves/dorfs) disappeared from tamriel after attempting to make themselves immortal, they are currently considered a 'lost' race & no one knows if they will or wont reappear...

Lore aside - we will probably see them return in future games, maybe even as a playable race. There is often mods for different races such as dwarves etc which you can use if you're on PC. (something like this wont exist for skyrim until after the modders resources have been released)

In the mean time the Dwemer artifacts and influence in skyrim is brilliant.

That might be correct, it's been a long time. Regardless, they don't look anything like dwarves as most people think of them. Not Gimli, nor Tyrion Lannister, nor any of Snow White's 7. THey would be fairly underwhelming, and the last thing TES needs is ANOTHER playable elf race.

I do think there will be a game focused solely on their return in the distant future.

Why would you want to play the game as Stephen Dorf?

He is a b list actor at best.

Way I understood it, the dragons returning was the final prophecy of the Elder Scrolls. So logically, there should be no future games.

Um, the whole premise of all the games is that they come from the Elder Scrolls. Sounds pretty relevant to me. I think the titles of the games would tell you that much.

"Dorf" = World of Warcraft slang for Dwarf. We know where the O.P.'s been. ;)

The Elder Scrolls in the lore change all the time so you can't tell if that is the last prophecy or not.
