Will ESO be enough?

How can a game be unbalanced if everyone can pick the same skill trees?

I'll be honest...I'm not too picky with what I choose. I'll try an interesting game out for awhile, and if i don't like it, i take a break from games for awhile, or go to another one.

My reason for choosing ESO? The supposed flexibility of character progression, massive pvp encounters, smart ai, and of course, Elder Scrolls themed zones and dungeons.

If it isn't what I expected, and is still fun, I'll keep playing. I'm afraid to say, but if I see the direction heading towards what WoW is now, I'll most likely quit immediately.

you can only pick three skill trees and you cant reset your stats but can reset trees also it is more about the CC and DPS more or less it is first one who CC with high DPS wins.

Personally I'm just looking forward to playing something that is decently made and also not a Wow clone.

Like so many others I thought GW2 was going to be THE GAME but combat turned out to be pretty much exactly like WoW.... even after people said it wouldn't be....

if they don't want, why complain then?

but that's the same in every game, even in Counter Strike the one with the first shoot was the winner (most of the times).

No MMO will ever be enough, people always seem to want more to die. Like some sort of... dark ritual used for the express purpose of burning money.

Yep, although the problem with Planetside and Defiance is that they're not made by Bungie. Bungie's Destiny will be a huge hit. I tried Planetside and didn't like it, I've heard mixed reviews on Defiance so I don't think I'll bother. As I said, Bungie in their first foray into the MMO genre will be one to watch.

I wouldn't expect anything new from an average console fps developer.

I've seen a lot of people saying the same lately. well at least GW2 did something good by getting ppl to understand not to get overhyped for every new MMO

The only other upcoming MMO on the rader for me is Wildstar. But Its so different to ESo that I dont see it as competition, just another mmo to play alongside it.

Just because a game is free to play does not mean it is lesser quality than a pay to play. PlanetSide 2 is probably the best modern first person shooter available right now and it is completely free to play. It may not be the best game of all time(I still think PS1 is better in many aspects) but do not dismiss a games quality purely based on its payment structure.

The shooting mechanics are actually pretty average in PS2, it's just battlefield in a big map. I would say that Tribes : Ascend is a better modern fps even though it's still horribly buggy and the devs don't seem to really care about it now that they have their new moba. And it's f2p too :P the only f2p game in years that i have wasted my time and money in to

in my experience the games that are made f2p are much less fun and lower quality. now with everything in life there are exceptions which is my hopes for marvel heroes. diablo 3 really let me down in the ARPG department so i now look to that game for fun. also i agree ps1 was better than ps2. the biggest issue with f2p still is the constant slap in the face with limitations unless you buy now

F2P Guild Wars not successful? Not Guild Wars II. Neither Guild Wars is Lower Quality because they are F2P or nobody would have purchase any of it. I think Guild Wars for a F2P it is engaging and has so much content that it takes a long time to play it all. Also P2P has is successes but it is not for me. It does not mean that one game is superior to another because of how you pay for it! Content, graphics and other attributes determine if a game is successful or not.

Planetside 2 has a simple 'pay to get better weapons'-system which in my eyes disqualifies any game from being 'the best available'

If ESO stays within a mile of the single player TES, I will be quite happy to stick with it. I'm sure everyone here was thinking to themselves that they would kill to at have Skyrim be co-op let alone an MMO.

I largely disagree. Sure, there are a few select amount of weapons that are straight up upgrades, rocket pods for esf for example but many of the standard starting weapons for infantry are actually the best you can get. T9-carv for TR for example is one of the best lmg weapons for heavy assault and you start with it. Soe's model for this game is to introduce 'sidegrades' rather than just straight upgrades. Sure, they may fall short on certain weapons here and there but for the most part I really think PS2 has the best F2P model of any game out there.

No, not at all actually. I firmly believe the singleplayer TES games should never have multiplayer at all. Waste of developer resources imo.

Spent the day with the Neverwinter open beta.

Yeah, so. Barring a complete overhaul, this one isn't going to last. The user-created custom quests add something, but there is just so little to the game that it makes me a little sad. It feels like a MOBA wearing big-boy pants (though fighting bots, not people), but every fight involves spamming mouseclicks, abilities when they're off cooldown, and saving the limited dodge ability for the obscenely over-telegraphed attacks.

The open beta launch was also went fairly badly for the first 2 hours or so. And was quite laggy for a while after that. Good times when the system is resetting your characters position every few seconds. Combines very well with twitch combat.

Has several important lessons for MMO developers, including a firm lesson on how not to monetize a game, and what is possibly the worst crafting system I have ever seen. You hire 'guys' (or rather, inventory icons) and they go off (on cooldown) for various periods of time and you get rewards when the timer pops. You can add mats for more things in the reward, and as you level up, you can have more guys at once. Huzzah.

Neverwinter MMO is true F2P not without reason... I think it might just last if players start to make content. Yep, Im ready to move there after Defiance. Im little bit hyped about Neverwinter TBH, mainly because the combat is slightly more hack-and-slash with quite fast pace, should be fun for certain amount of time.

Ah thanks for the correction. So GW is that and not F2P. I assumed that it was F2P because you don't have to pay a subscription. Sorry for my misunderstanding.
