Will this game run properly on PS3?

Post » Tue Oct 09, 2012 2:26 pm

I've been reading through the reviews and the game looks great but I have been unable to find a single reviewer that has played on the PS3 version of the game. I would love to play this game but after Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas I'm just really skeptical that Bethesda will release a decent product.

If anyone knows of any sources that can show that the PS3 copy of this game actual works as well as it does on the other systems then please direct it to me here. I'm not buying this game until I can know for sure that it will work on PS3.

It seems to run on the PS3 rather well, judging from other posts I've seen. Be aware that Dishonored do not use the same game engine as Fallout: New Vegas or Skyrim.

And here's a PS3 review; http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/review/dishonored-ps3-review-many-kinds-of-magic/

Arkane studios is the developer and Bethesda is the publisher though I suppose they fall under the same parent company ZeniMax Media, the problems and issues that have been plaguing Bethesda's development team regarding PS3 ports should at the very least, not be carried over in this title. It remains to be seen whether or not Arkane will have their own issues with the PS3 port, but I'm hoping that is not the case and the port is as "flawless" as the other versions that are supported.

Thanks for the link Freddo! I really appreciate it. It would be nice to play a Bethesda game that actually works for once. :)

Do remember it's an Arkane game, not a Bethesda game matey ;) But Arkane is under Bethesda, and also is the publisher,
but they've had nothing to do with creating the game! ;)

I posted a comparison video forgot where but on cvg site they have it on there looks roughly the same on each system but actually PS3 is a little less blurrier.

OPM didn't take issue with the game and it got a great score. But every game has its quirks that slip through QA so a few technical issues will pop up regardless. Some reviews I read mentioned objects floating and some clipping issues while climbing but nothing severe enough to ruin the experience.

Arkane is under ZeniMax Media similar to how ZeniMax acquired iD Software. Although they all share the same parent company, the development efforts are separate.

Which is of course over Bethesda Softworks (Publisher) and Bethesda Game Studios (Developer of titles such as TES, FO3 and FONV)

I heard both versions have screen tearing probably cause they don't have vsync but its ok that doesn't bother me much.

I doubt anyone has gotten their save file to a large size yet. Waiting to see what happens THEN!

I honestly don't understand this stance. I'm not saying you should do everything I think is right, but I can't see why anyone would avoid what could be a masterpiece just because they don't like the publisher.

To be honest, it should, unless you insert the disc the wrong way. Ha, kidding! I've actually never tried that. I've read that the PS3 does have some minor framerate and screen tearing issues, but nothing to be concerned about.

The link might have spoilers. I didn't read the review.

Having completed Dishonored on PS3 we can assure all it's glitch free with no Skyrim-esque issues. It's also awesome http://t.co/DRlw8Vqw3 hours ago

It would be best to wait until some other PS3 players have played it and see if they found it smooth. So far, I don't see a reason for it to have any issues, but we'll just have to wait and see.

It is interesting to see people instantly dismiss this using the reasoning that it's a different developer using a different engine as if no one was around for the RAGE PC launch.

Yet again a different company and different engine.

Um...yeah that was my point: id, a developer which is synonymous with PC gaming, managed to completely botch a PC release under this publisher. ZeniMax/Bethesda is now known for rushing out every single game regardless of the developer and/or engine used. (the Bethesda developed Gamebryo games just happen to out-stink the other stinkers)

Honestly, Creation Engine(Skyrim) and RAGE-Engine(Rage) were both not really solid.
Unreal Engine has been quite solid and easy to work with for many companies, look at Unreal Tournament, Gears of War, Batman games, Borderlands 1 and 2 etc. All of em great successes on both PC and consoles. The largest worries are the Engine and the Developer, and thereafter the publisher.

Even a well-tested engine in the hands of a good developer can result in disaster when said developer is beholden to a publisher which is known for rushing products to store shelves game-breaking bugs and all.

Everything is possible, I do not agree in this case entirely however, looking at the statistics of the games released on Unreal Engine, the chances are small on that part compared to many other scenarios
