windhelm arena dlc

If they do make a DLC out of it, I hope they make it bigger than it is right now. It's kind of small.

What else were they working on? Bethesda is like the biggest time waster ever.. They have a grossly gigantic team and its not even a lot of good content.. You can have 500 dungeons and 5 million quests, but it all comes down to which dungeons are fun and memorable and same goes for the quests.. They wasted a load of time on this "Radiant Story".. Even in the world of Skyrim itself, it lacked Atmosphere.. A very boring setting and I am surprised they didn't add fantasy elements to a fantasy game.. The game is generally unbalanced based on rate the character and the enemies in the world improve.. Where in all of this does this equal 4-5 years of work..?

hey hey... you should review your priorities perhaps...
everyone gets 10000 times the real value of his work can't be called "lazy" :bunny:

I welcome the notion of an arena in Skyrim. Just because something has been done before in another game doesn't mean it can't be included again in a different game in the same series. If most people enjoyed it in Oblivion, why would most people enjoy it in Skyrim, especially since the whole idea of an arena is theatrical and with the new kill animation feature it would fit like a glove. Also, people could use the arena as sort of a way to measure the pros and cons of the different classes they choose to make in terms of exposed battle.

I didn't really enjoy the Arena in Oblivion. I thought it was repetitive and pretty useless. I had stolen more money than I earned fighting by the time I got there.

So an Arena in Skyrim? If they could make it interesting I'd say yes. If not, obviously no.

Nah, I'd rather have an arena in Orsinium if they add it.

Arena sounds fun but they need to spice it up a bit like some matches while you fight strong opponents they release wild beasts at you according to your lvl.

Why is everyone so obsessed about arenas... the arena in oblivion was lame and arenas in general are lame. You 1) fight and 2) get money.. both of which you can do any time, anywhere and easily. And once you do it theres litte else to get from it.

NO ARENA DLC!

Or you could just not buy it. That works, too.

You actually have no right to say what you said. If you wouldn't buy it, play it, or don't see the point in it, that does not render the entire idea invalid; it is in fact your opinion that Bethesda should actively not release one such DLC that is invalid, given that A] it'd be wholly optional and B] subscription to that opinion would do nothing but deny other people something they want (that would do you no harm) just because you aren't amused by it. What you think about others' entertainment, so long as the entertainment itself harms no one, is irrelevant.

That said, plenty other people on this thread have expressed disagreement or distaste towards an arena DLC without such vile commentary. There's plenty of "no thanks/not interested" and "I wouldn't buy it unless" posts here. Basically, the "Beth shouldn't make it at all because I don't like it" opinion is invalid and can easily lead to conflict.

I'd buy it in a second.

Same. I think.

I like that the two larger DLCs have come with a bunch of new equipment and some new spells. Personally, I would like magic to get more than just a few goodies (equipment seems to get all the love). I imagine an arena in Skyrim to work well: combat with whatever whenever, fame and fortune, team battles (PC and NPCs vs. baddies), maybe even a good questline. A return of the Adoring Fan (in the vein of M'aiq's return) would be nice, especially if we could trap him in a plane of Oblivion again xD

An Arena would be a nice addition to Windhelm.

It'd certainly be interesting and it could be useful for rp purposes. It could function like the Thorn from New Vegas, you can bring in new creatures as well as being a challenger or a gambler.

Seeing as how a large amount of the assets are already in the CK, I don't think I'd enjoy being charged for it. Well, maybe if the Pit was added in a larger DLC, but if it was the main focus? I'm not sure, it seems like it would make better free content.

I'm guessing it was cut because of the release deadline. As were several other features such as real-time carriage travel.

Merchant Giants. Civil war stuff.
Yeah there was a ton of cut content...

It'd be nice to add what was cut from the game as free content. I wouldn't mind going to the Arena, now if I had to pay for it then...meh unless I hear its some stellar in depth sort of thing.

If it was like $2 I would be okay with that, but Bethesda isn't keen on doing that kind of stuff anymore.

I really think it's lame how the arena got cut though, I enjoyed the one in Oblivion, and there's no reason they could not have made Skyrim's better.

No kidding. If they keep pumping out quality add-ons, they've more than made up for it.. but still... man.. I want a legit Civil War questline and an arena. That's like 5+ extra hours of content right there.

I do remember, I think it was Altadoon, said that the Civil War stuff was cut out of preference rather than time constraints though.. not sure about the arena

It still could have been added. Unless it was decided at last minute to be used for a dlc I don't see why they would just drop it like a bag of sand over a cliff.

here's why I think we need an arena. Skyrim's armed combat is unique in videogames and its done really well. There's no other game that allows for good first person melee combat like this. It's an enormous improvement over Oblivion's comparatively slow and jerky melee combat. And its why Skyrim is now my favorite game; I've finally realized I'm tired of shooting people in other games, and skyrim's melee combat is an exhilarating alternative. Fighting unarmed monsters isn't as much fun, but fighting enemies similarly armed with sword and shield is a unique and exciting experience. I need more of it, and attacking town guards isn't very productive. Skyrim's combat is unique and excellent and deserves to be fully fleshed out in an arena. I don't care if it's in Windhelm or elsewhere. The arena should be never-ending like in Oblivion, but not with animals and monsters, which isn't as much fun, but with armed opponents. Skyrim is the only game that provides this type of combat; there's nowhere else to go but to beg Bethesda to fully flesh it out in an arena via dlc. I think cutting the arena was the biggest mistake of Skyrim and the only thing keeping it from uber-greatness.

I want it for the sole purpose of watching fights. Not to gamble and make money, just to be entertained.

Actually, I'm unsure if I WOULD buy it, because if it was the Windhelm arena, it would mean I would have to grace those neanderthals with my presence. And they already don't like me.

Yeah, and maybe while watching one a mission triggers. Like if something entered the arena (maybe a dragon or daedra or god knows) and you rushed into fighting it. And that would lead to an arena on a plane of oblivion, with enemies we've faced before and more, like Xivalai, Spider daedra, and maybe a daedric-feeling dragon. The daedric realm arena should be big enough to hold a battle against a dragon. Maybe like windhelm, whiterun and solitude together... but it'd still be awesome. And as rewards there would be daedric based dragon shouts and weapons like goldbrand, daedric crescent, umbra and many others!
