My character cut a necromancers head off during one of the special kill animations.

Aww poop. I may have the boring copy as well. I never get head-decapitationism.

i believe there's a perk in 1-handed and one in 2-handed that enables decapitations for axe weapons

I don't think you can do it like you could in Fallout, just by shooting or whacking someone to pieces. From what I've seen, it only occurs during finishing moves.

I started the game two days ago. I watched a guy get beheaded, and myself nearly beheaded. Then I went into Solitude. Saw another guy get beheaded.

You were saying?

Severing limbs in sword combat isn't realistic at all, unless you're a jedi.

Decapitation shouldn't be something that always happens. That's what I hated about fallout. It was just too much. Decapitations should be a rarity. A little extra to add some depth.

Not at all Medievil fantasy has always revolved around intense battling with gruesome bloody gore.

Pretty sure someone's head gets chopped off in the first 5 minutes in the game.

Also, sword inflicted dismemberment is realistic and historical, even while wearing armor it has happened.

Have you taken the "Standing power attacks can cause decapitation" perk yet? (it's in both the 1-hand and 2-hand perk trees.)

Yep. Because gore = better game. I find it refreshing that bethesda doesn't cater to the gore hounds. I feel extra gore cheapens some games.

Also... as many have said, there is a skill that allows for decapitations.

Precisely! When I talk about the ability to sever limbs im not talking about the cheesy fallout style animations, im talking about being able to freely cut of arms, heads and legs and open huge gashes. I always felt Elder scrolls was missing that horrir filled bloody atmosphere.

Requires a perk in 1H or 2H. You have to be have a level 50 skill in either of those to access the perk.

Fantasy ≠ Realism.
There you have it. And besides: medieval fantasy originated from myths and folktales, modern fantasy originated in the books by Tolkien. There's hardly any gore in that, or am I missing something? There has never been gruesome gore in any Elder Scrolls game, so don't make up some "rule" about fantasy.

LOL it really seems..people are getting uptight....calm down calm down :)

Don't put words in my mouth please...I never tried to make anything up. I never said Elder scrolls had any gore to begin with. All i said was..it would've been nice to see some semi frequent decapitation animations in the free flowing combat (non finishers) It would perfectly fit in the realm of skyrim, Big hardy battlling vikings, Monsters and the medievil theme. I Never intended to say whats right or wrong. Just an idea.

It seems some people on the internet really do not know how to calmly discuss things...no surprise there :P

Anyhoo...np
