just sold and sent off my PS3 ready to purchase PC parts for the end of the month and now i've been hit with horrible horrible news... i got in contact with father and he told me that he wont be able to pay the other half until augest.

we had a little deal that if i save up half way then he would pay the rest by the end of june but this abrupt news has just become the bane of my whole summer.

That's it... a summer with no gaming, no skyrim and no PC :tes:

i live in an isolated area so finding other things to do wi ll be a big problem.

WHAT DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!?????????

Well, at least you'll have Joon and Joo-lie to think about playing Skyrim and come up with another character while father gets the loot.

Given how you posted this I assume you have access to an at least semi-decent PC and internet at home. Get your ass to GoG and acquire some amazing classics like http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/vampire_the_masquerade_redemption to satisfy your gaming needs in the summer.

And do outdoor stuff.

oh ho ho ho rub it in why don't you? i've already thought up a character ready for skyrim since i sold the PS3 last week! oh man, the only game which is playable on this laptop right now is minecraft on lowest settings and reduced nvidia color settings and reduced resolution to make it all run at 20-30 fps :(

im already having withdrawel symptoms from skyrim let alone gaming.
Read, go for walks, do outdoor things.
but i already do these things!
currently reading bear grylls mud, sweat and tears
outdoor things include going out with 2 friends and sitting on some swings

i've got a 5 year old laptop built by packard bell... as i've already posted, it can run minecraft on lowest settings, lowest resolution and lowest colour rate

i was thinking about downloading daggerfall free from the bethesda site but there is some hocus pocus about it saying you have to download an emulator and fiddle around to get it working

So why not fiddle around? Sounds to me like you've got plenty of time.

Also, why not get a job? It will give you something to do and money to allow you freedom from reliance on your dad.

Great, that should run Redemption without any problems (it's not exactly a recent release). That goes for most games on there by the way, so get your ass to GoG!

Take a deep breath, its not the end of the world! I'll give you a list of things you could do with your friends:

-Hide and seek
-Paintball?
-Tree climing
-Build a den
-Make a fire (obviously making sure it's allowed and safe)
-Cook marshmallows by said fire
-Tell ghost stories by said fire
-Write your own fanfic/draw something
-Try and do a loop on swings
-Play old computer games, AoE for example

Can't think of anything else right now. The above things are all things I want to do but never have been able to D: (apart from Paintball and playing old computer games -which are fun)

i guess you're right on that part, im sure this laptop can handle a game running on an emulator for crying out loud haha.

:'{ i just got out of a job from helping around on a farm and doing paper rounds on my street at most you're looking at £5.00 for helping out and £25 every 2 weeks for the paper round.

NEVER EVER EVER! think about living in the countryside if you're a gamer.

ITS HELL [censored] IT!

Gaming isn't the only thing in the world. But I see that you can't really spend either since you're short on cash, so my suggestions of taking a course in something fun like dance or photography or something is out. If however you feel you can afford it, do that. If not, maybe get a summer job? If you're too young, volunteer somewhere. You'll cure your boredom, it looks nice on a uni application, and you might make a friend or two.

If all this is out, start watching a tv series. Or better yet, anime.

There's more to life than gaming, and quite frankly, I highly doubt that being told that you won't have a computer for a while is the "worst news you've came across".

It's a bit of a Platonic outlook, but books are better than games in the sense that the RAM and memory of a brain is far better than any PC machine. I just view games as interactive books, unless it's multiplayer.

There are many good reads, and I'd suggest getting a series. I liked the Demonata series, has 10 books in it. Lots of gore, violence and demons.

It's mentioned above...

Is it really easy to get a job suddenly? Cause everyone who says that makes it sound easy! :|

I preferred the vampire series. 12 books. And in my opinion a better story, though much less gore.
