Its so much more immersive...I was against it at first but now I'm not going back...the thrill of finding an area with the HUD off is great

HUD in general or only Compass? With no HUD at all I don't know how much Health I have and I prefer knowing those things before jumping off cliffs and such.
But no Compass is amazing, I really like to play like that.

Completely without compass markers is nice (iHud ftw!). Completely without the HUD would equal instant death for my chars on difficulties higher then Apprentice/Adept.

No HUD and no music.

with no music you no longer get the 'pwoomfp' sound of a new location discovered. Truly everything is as your character sees it.

You really dont need to see your health, magic or stamina meters. I play on expert using iron weapons and no armour. If I can survive anyone can.

Yeah, the immersive Hud (iHud) mod is great, only showing parts of the hud when you need them.

With WiS and WarZones activated? At low levels you soon need those Health meters. But no Compass is fun.

I don't go with no HUD, but I do go with no compass or crosshairs (yay, iHUD). It's quite nice. The game doesn't offer enough indicators for me to go without the HP bar. I also like to be able to see what I am focusing on, since I can't read the spine of the books and such.

I play with no compass. Health, magicka, stamina bar opacity set very very low so it's only slightly visible, and no crosshairs.

The only thing that takes getting used to is not having crosshairs, it took me a few hours to get used to aiming without it. I love it TC, way ore immersive and satisfying.

I just put some tape over my compass. Works wonders.

Something tells me this is a stupid question, but how do you know which direction you're going without a compass?? Do you just keep checking the map?

Can you disable the HUD on Xbox? or at least the compass?

Personally, just from having it off I learn where a lot of locations are. When you don't rely on the compass you learn what roads lead where, things like that. If I don't know where something is, then yes I check the map, or read the quest description. You would be suprised how quickly you learn your way around Skyrim out of necessity.

Roads, and instinct mostly. I don't go about running through the wilds all the time.

Yes but you have to disable crosshair and the health, stamina and magicka bar as well.

I think you can turn the opacity down to zero, but it also turns down a bunch of other things, like your health bar. I could be wrong though, If I am, I'm sure a 360 user will correct me.

Edit: Ninja'd. :ninja:

Could you please enlighten me on how to do so?

You can if you wish. But one of the main reason I disabled my compass is because it encourages me to pay more attention to landmarks. Celestial navigation is also possible.

::EDIT:: Double ninja'd. Dang, this board moves fast!

I think I may be about to go with no compass, I have the music blanked completely with empty files anyway and I RP not looking at the map anywhere but in towns.

I just disabled my compass in my .ini. *shrugs* I don't see the need for a mod.

Me either personally, but there are some mods that let you disable/enable certain things if you want. Gives a bit more customization if you want somethings displayed and some not.

Edit: You know what else is really annoying, other than the compass? The fact that it takes ages to switch between 1st person view and 3rd. That was the first thing I change in the ini when I purchased Skyrim. It drove me insane. Does that bother anyone else, or just me?
