You are always a nord!

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:12 pm

So I'm playing this Bosmer character for about 70 hours now and I noticed that in many cities some NPC's refer to you as if you were a nord. They even call you one. Like this one at Whiterun: an alchemist shop owner. She always says something like " A strong nord like you doesn't need potions". NORD?! I think you are mistaken lady. In Windhelm a guy on the street said to me: "Get out of my face! I despise a nord with no honor."
COME ON!!! These are just a few examples, but there is more. I know that there is a lot of bigger issues with this game and I already gave my opinion in a lot of threads about them, but I haven't seen any thread about this issue. Anyone noticed this too?

I'm and Orc and cannot recall issues like this... I'm also 70 hours into the game... The guy about honor in Windhelm is that guy who stands outside a building complaining about dark elves alot eh? He calls me a stupid ugly Orc from time to time. Nothing about being a Nord.

So I'm the lucky one eh. Hurray!!! Seriously, I can't believe how uncaring bethesda is about its consumers.

Sure you aren't just crouching around them. NPCs usually get suspicious when they see you sneaking.

I'm a mere level 21 Imperial. Must say that everyone calls me an imperial and anyone close to the Strom cloaks doesn't seem to like me.

At least thats normal. Instead I'm stuck in the main quest as the game freezes when getting my reward from Jarl Balgruuf in Whiterun

I'm a nord warrior, my heavy armor skill and two handed are at 100 now, yet sometimes when i walk past people they say "we're watching you sneak thief" or "dont you try picking any locks under my watch" yet my lockpicking skill is so low..? Also i was called a wood elf, though this only occurred once and hasnt happened since, mostly they all acknowledge me being a nord. How it should be.

I'm a Breton and this happens to me occasionally too - I thought it might be intentional on Bethesda's part because Bretons could easily be mistaken for Nords more than any other race. But now I guess it's a bug. Can't imagine it would be easy to check so that every character's greetings to match up with your character race though, so it's understandable.

LOL. Have you read the op? Have you played this game or other games from bethesda? I said that this is one of many issues within this game. Bethesda isn't uncaring for this bug specifically, but for always releasing games for their fans to test them. I choose to talk about this issue not because it annoys me particularly, but because I haven't seen topics about it. Peace dude!

Are you sure they're not talking to a Nord that's somewhere near you?

I've even heard that people playing as Wood Elves are told to "go play in a tree" from time to time.

This is the most minor bug possible. If it does actually exist, it has nothing to do with Bethesda being uncaring, and you know it.

This happens with me too. Guards always make comments about skills that I svck, like if I was good on them. I think the system is getting it backwards. Strange.

I have played Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim. I understand that there are going to be bugs in the game. Every game has bugs and a game of this magnitude would be impossible to make without hundreds of bugs/glitches existing. Expecting the game to be bug free on release day is too high of an expectation if you have played games from them before. Its hasn't even been a week since the game was released.

They are and YOU know it. They aren't uncaring for this one bug. I just brought that up because I haven't seen any post on the subject. But they are uncaring for treating fans like drug addicts. Here how bethesda thinks:
- Well the game is finish. Let's release it.
- But sir, we need to debbug it properly!
- We won't waste money doing that. Let the fans do it.
- But sir, aren't we risking our reputation and the game sells doing this?
- Nah!! Their a bunch of addicts. Losers with no life. Their going to buy it, enjoy it and praise it. Some will even defend the fact that we have bugs in our games like if it is some kind of trademark or something. Come on! Do it and let's count our money. (EVIL LAUGH)

Well. That was very silly. I wasn't aware Bethesda was populated by cartoon characters.

Can we get back on topic? I've never experienced this bug, but yeah, it sounds annoying. But hey, that's what patches are for. Don't think something like this would be a game-breaker for me.

I am not demanding a bug free game on release, I am demanding a playable game on release. And that excuse "this game is too big to be bug free" is getting old. Have you played the Rockstar stuff? Red Dead Redemption, LA Noir and GTA are also huge games and their aren't full of bugs. Actually I remember just one in Red Dead Redemptiom when NPC's dupplicate, but thats all. So please. don't say to me that is impossible to raise up the standards.

Shouldn't have to be any pattches. That is the point. I've paid for the full game expecting it to be working properly not to be waiting for it to be fixed.

Yes, I have played Rockstar's games and there is so much more content in a Bethesda game by far. For all those saying "X is a terrible glitch that should have been caught," I would love to see them all try their hand at creating a console game and then debugging it, or actually a decent sized computer program. It's not easy. No, it is not impossible to raise the standards, but no game company has created a game with the same amount of content as Bethesda. So right now, they are the standard.

Hummm. I just saw from your last post that you are really a fan to the core. In a bad way I would say. You seen to be in love with the company or maybe even addicted. I don't treat campanies like they were a footbal team when winning or losing, good or bad I still cheer for them. No! If it is taking my money I demand satisfaction. Just like I would treat w h o re. LOL.

Yes I'm a big fan because I enjoy the games that they have created, so obviously I'm gonna buy other games they have created. I bought this game knowing that there would be bugs. From the way you post, you sound like quite the gamer yourself. If that is the case then you should know what to expect from the company before buying. Also, they are not taking you're money, you are giving it to them. Nobody forced you to buy it.

I'm a carrot.

Can't say for sure that I've experienced this. They don't seem to refer to me as anything particular that I've noticed, except for "Thane" in Whiterun and the guards there now sometimes refer to me as "Companion". Though once or twice I have heard "Imperial" from somebody and I am playing as an Imperial.

Yes I am a gamer and yes I expected this amount of bugs from them. This doesn't mean that they are right to do it so. Does it?

Just ocurred me. I'm playing the unpatched version of the game. I rather wait to a more solid patch to be released instead of downloading small ones. Which version are youo guys playing? Maybe this issue had been fixed already.
