Considering they're three things that could be easily implemented, and they just weren't I'm sure you can understand why.

You mount and the dragon flies around in the immediate area, attacking enemies. You can specify specific enemies and use some ranged spells to help fight. You go to different places by using the fast travel menu, and the dragon flies there. That's pretty much it.

I didn't say they'd be unjustified gripes ;)

Seriously?

Oh Bethesda, why are you so good at creating disappointment? So much wasted potential and half arsed implementations of game mechanics.

There was an unusual lack of pre-release information for this one, so it mostly comes down to the players building too many expectations (see: datamined spears and jumping to conclusions).

Exactly that, it was never once unofficially-confirmed that spears would be playable. Just that they would be included in the game in one way or another.
But people tend to blindly ignore facts in face of belief/longing!

In all honesty those expectations were rather small. The spears, a feature they know their fans want (and even got working to some degree in Game Jam, so people had every reason to jump to that conclusion) and dragon riding (a lot of people weren't too fussed on that regardless) which may as well not have been implemented at all by the sounds of it.

In the case of dragon flight and such, I imagine there's issues with map designs and exploits to consider. Like getting past that wind barrier on the Throat of the World when you're not supposed to... or getting into the final dungeon of the main quest before Sovngarde.

I actually found that good, even If If found feature useless, it's simply Dragon Ridung does not work with the game mechanics, and flying mount, I personally say that they ruin open world games, I never played World of Warcraft but there, there also considered as a "feeling destroyer".

I love it. I attacked whiterun on the outside during the civil war mission. That=awesome in my book. And it provides another rp'able way to fast travel like the carriage.

I agree completely, but the way they implemented dragon riding makes it seem pretty useless and shallow.

Nope. A lot of people wanted itincluding me, and I'm happy I got it. I never expected it to be free roam, and was worried it'd be a one time thing. I'm glad it is in. It fits well with the dovahkiin thing. Pure epic.

haha you know what they say about ass-u-me...don't exect things and you won't be disappointed ;)
I was hopeful for a horse replacement but I was expecting the same as odaviing during the MQ, this dragon riding falls somewhere in the middle so i'm ok with it

Well good for you... I didn't say nobody wanted it, I said a lot of people weren't fussed. There were tons of posts in the series of threads about the scripts found, the vast majority seemed to indicate that people didn't care much either way.

Dragon riding like that sounds fine to me.

As said above, flying mounts run open world games and Skyrim is already many times smaller than an MMO, so limiting it is best. Plus, you are not controlling the dragon like a horse, just fighting together.
