You can't even ride dragons.

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:40 pm

Could you please point out where in my response I said one may not take a stance on Skyrim other than that of a positive one? Take your time...

You still haven't found it, have you? That is because it wasn't said. I was condemning his choice to put words in the mouths of Bethesda leading up to the Dragonborn expansion's release by assuring the ability to freely roam on the back of a dragon, for example. Nothing more, nothing less. Good day.

Don't worry friend, I found your lost sentence for you.

If you cannot do this, simply refrain from posting about your supposed "dissapointment" inDragonborn.

Well, that was a more specific part anyway. The whole comment is essentially implying it. People expressing dissapointment in the way a feature was implemented is genuine critique...

Oh, so you meant in future DLC? My mistake, apologies.
It's understandable, since initials like that can get a little confusing at times.

If I wasn't myself a poor college student, I'd gift it to you :)

Haha, I appreciate the gesture. I'm sure that when I get this eventually, I'll enjoy it more than I won't. And I know that just looking at a list of what's new is very different than actually experiencing the content first hand, but for whatever reason, looking at lists of new content is the only way Bethesda's allowed me to experience any new content. If I actually was able to play the content, I'd probably have a different opinion, but as it stands, I have to wait for the chance to, and as time elapses I'm going to find more and more reasons not to buy this because the flaws, legitimate or not, will overcome the hype.

have you played it? I think you have too many conflicting opinions imo. I think you should stick to one console if your playing on xbox as well. Because your just going to compare one to the other. Why there is a need for spears i wouldnt know, or werebears i wouldnt know. But I dont mind either of it. I hope you end up enjoying the dlc. I am enjoying the new stuff. :)

Only have a PS3 so hopefully I'll have the chance to play this sometime next year, but I have my doubts. Can't stand the feel of an Xbox controller.

Spears and werebears were prerequisites for a new character I wanted to make, the first new character I've been looking forward to making in Skyrim for ages, rather than being made because I ran into another unsolvable bug. WIthout either of those, his entire basis is gone.

Maybe if you focused on what is actually in the dlc you would enjoy it. Plus basing your opinion on just what you heard prior to actually playing for yourself is a pretty ridiculous method of forming an opinion on something.

And yet, I doubt you'd tell me thinking that this seemed good based on what others are saying about it was ridiculous. I'm not saying anything about whether or not this DLC is good or bad. I'm just saying it seems to be lacking many features I was looking forward to, and as such, I'm in no rush to go out and buy it.

If I want the Dark Knight Rises, I buy the Dark Knight Rises, I don't buy the Complete dike Van Dyke Show on Blu-ray. That's not the say the Complete dike Van Dyke Show on Blu-ray is a bad product, but it doesn't contain what I'm looking for. Same thing here.

My point is that when you get it, you wont care about what isn't in it. It seems silly to not get it just because some features that were never promised in the first place are not in it.

But those were features that actually made me feel excited about playing Skyrim again. There lack of inclusion in this DLC diminishes my interest in it. My spear using Nord werebear living in the wild as a follower of Hircine can't be done, I still don't find any appeal in playing as a mage in Skyrim, and the lack of a Thu'um tree and its promotion to being a core battle mechanic rather than a nifty add-on all take away from the things I wanted to do in this DLC.

The lack of these features is, in some ways, Bethesda telling me that this DLC isn't for me. Oh well, maybe I'll finally get what I'm looking for if/when we go to Orsinium...

Bethesda never promised us much, so we can't say they failed to deliver, just that they could have done more with what they put in. I think they've already put in quite a lot though.

the most funny thing is that the complaints here comes mostly from angry ps3/pc users that haven't even played yet dragonborn

think positive for once, all this negativity is really out of place on a forum of videogames

dragon riding ? a gimmick put in to satisfy the youngest players, but well implemented considering console and world space limits

for us its almost useless, but we could understand why it could result fun to someone else

werebears and spears ? they could appear in a future dlc or patch easily, we also want the lattest :bunny:

this dlc has class for what we have seen until now, be patient and you' ll see it for yourself perhaps

complaining on wishes and suppositions ? are we serious or what ? judge the content when you' ll play it

or it will be like judging the chef only reading the menu :bunny:

for a gimmick not implemented we have at least five good things, look at it this way :bunny:

if this is not the dlc for you perhaps the next will...wait and choose, but they couldn't please all of course, there will be something missing even in orsinium or riders of hammerfell, bear that in mind

I never got the impression that Dragon Aspect was a core battle mechanic. Sounds like another victim of speculation. Anyway, even though it is not, Dragon Aspect is VERY useful, and is now one of my favorite shouts. I think you'll find a lot of things in this dlc that you will love despite your wants not being in it. I had absolutely nothing in DG that was at the top of my list, but I got it anyway and loved it. Still do. I could see if Beth actually promised us things like perk trees for shouts, werebears, and actual working spears...but they NEVER did. People just assumed and got burned. Despite all that, this is one of their best dlc's if not THE best. You'll soon see that when you get over what's not in it. If we focused on what is NOT in a dlc, we'd never enjoy any of them.

It just feels like a waste of time, they should have worked on something more useful than dragon riding. It is seriously pointless and I would have liked to have had something else added in its place that would have been useful. Yes it does look cool but its pointless, thats my only gripe.

I'm not saying that Dragon Aspect was a core battle mechanic. I'm saying that I've always thought that the Thu'um should have been a core battle mechanic from the very beginning, but it wasn't (a major design flaw of the Thu'um in my opinion). I was hoping this would be rectified, especially in a DLC with you going toe to toe with the First Dragonborn.

If you're silly enough to think it'd actually be free roam, then yes. It wasn't what it was made out to be.

I knew it wouldn't be, just sitting here with my bottle of mead laughing at how people got their hopes up for a feature that would inevitably be stupid

this is BETHESDA we are talking about remember :P

My bad. I didn't mean you personally. Just those in general that thought it would be free roam.

I dont think it's stupid btw. It helped me make the cw questline that much more epic, so that equals awesome in my book.

Lol, Howard happens to be my last name. Common last name, I know. Its just strange seeing it referred in that way to me.

(to those that say stop whining)

People have a right to be disappointed . All the release info really push the whole mounting a dova whereas were-bears and spears weren't even hinted at (beside those reikling) . I wish they just kept the whole glorified fast-travel cutscene secret and it would have been a nice bonus but of course you need your selling point . And regardless people shouldn't demand others to stop expressing their opinions as some bethesda [censored] are doing here .

I'd prefer to fly about on a little white cloud like in the Japanese TV show monkey. The theme tune to this TV show must also kick in while in flying mode.
