If you cared that much Valerica...

A big question is whether she intended to ever retrieve her daughter.

Was she in the Soul Carin to get power to stop Harkon or just hang out until he died of unnatural causes thousands of years later?

I would have preferred the option to play along with Harkon, be the servile minion who knows that the moment his usefulness expires or power grows too great his master will try to kill him, waiting until he's accomplished everything I need him to and then knifing him in the back. I'm still pissed that we didn't get to kill the sun as promised.

And why is there no option not to be Serana's friend? No, I don't want your help! I don't need your help! I want to sacrifice you to bring in an age of eternal night, dammit!

Get a tainted arrow. Shoot it through Auriel's Bow at the Sun.

Do a little dance. See the return of the vampire assaults on cities.

She is rather selfish. I almost think that she's afraid of the death she would likely face when fighting Harkon.

Yea, I was a little confused about her reasoning. On the one hand it kinda made sense but on the other it was selfish and cowardly. At the time I just shrugged my shoulders and figured either I missed something or the character knew something I didn't.

It would be neat if there was an option to
Spoiler
trick Harkon into switching places with her. Imprison him in the Cairn as a gift for those Watcher being-things

Well we do know if you keep Serana alive you can get blood forever. If you kill her, she'll eventually run out of blood. Didn't think of that Harkon did you.

The impression I got was by sacrificing serana he could perminently block the sun out, rather than temporarily with a splash of blood.

See, I had the impression as well, but everyone keeps telling me I'm wrong.

I understood it that if he bathed the bow in her blood then the effects would become permanent.

 Makes little difference I suppose. I'm on my second play through now so I'll get to see if I'm remembering correctly :)

I don't believe Valerica she is correct.

The clans really hate each other and the way harkon is talking he wants to go to war with the humans. The vampire clans will not work together, plus not all the vampire clans are masters of subtlety thats more of the cyrodil clan thing and volkihar are not really all that good at infiltrating and when they do they have to use magic and the people in the jarl of solitude court know that sybille is a vampire. Plus the feral vampires driven insane by blood lust will slaughter and drink the blood of humans lowering the food for vampires if the sun is blotted out permanently.

Plus vampires are weaker the higher their generation is and if there are more vampires that puts a bigger strain on the food source the volkihar even give quests where you kill vampires that are trying to turn a said group of people into vampires or if a group of vampires are overfeeding. Lets not forget the vampire disease can spread quite easily since it can be given to people by accident if you enter combat with a vampire.

If the sun is blotted out permanently vampires will be annihilated or if they win they will kill of their food source(feral vampires and clan/in clan competition for human cattle). Blocking out the sun permanently is stupid imo.
Agreed, Blotting out the sun permanently sounds like a good plan but it's really, really stupid. That's like saying "hey guys, lets make the world's biggest cheeseburger using all the cows in the world!" Tastey, fun and delicious...hell yes but not very smart since we won't have any cows left...

Of course Harkon's motives are understandable. But my character wasn't finished with him yet. We wanted to darken the skies and bring in the age of night. I'm more inclined to believe Harkon than Valerica: if there were no sun, people might pay more attention to vampires, but there would be nothing they could do about it.

Err... perhaps you should be made aware of a massive lopside in the population ratio of nonvampires to vampires?

Granted, but that doesn't change the fact that vampires have a demonstrated predilection toward subterfuge and are several times stronger than your average mortal.
