I wouldn't change my name. There's not many people with it and it's my moms maiden name.

I like my name, so I'm not inclined to change it, but Helios-Hyperion would be cool.

If I had to, I'd probably pick Thomas. For now, I save that name for a future son.

I don't mind my name, so I see no reason to change it.

However, when it comes to female names I've always been more fond of those that starts with an N, not sure why. Nadja, Naomi, Nina and so forth. If I ever have a daughter she will most likely have a N-name :P

Laziness - Most people probably can't be assed to go and get the name officially changed. It's not like Sims where you just head to city hall and "voila!" ten minutes later.
Lack of effectiveness - People you know are most likely going to keep calling you by your old name, so that renders it useless unless you move right after changing the name and sever contact with everyone you knew in your "previous life".
Confusion - School documents, passport, ID cards, etc. Things are going to get really confusing for everyone checking these.

To name a few...

I assume the OP meant if you could get it changed without any of the usual consequences.

Yeah, it's a serious pain in the backside. Since there's no "central register of names" (at least in the UK) it's up to you to tell everyone, with varying amounts and authenticity of documentary evidence depending on how pedantic the organisation in question is, and some of them still don't get it right after repeated reminders.

I'm fine with my first name (Mike.) its my last name that i'd change. Probably to something a bit more neutral..like Williams or Cater or Davids or something. My last name has a tendency to enrage Portuguese people.

apparently if you're a u.s. citizen this organization will take care off the whole process for $129

so if you want to change your name but are lazy, all you need is $129 ;)

Slade, I've been called that since I was in the Air Force years ago. Either that or Corvo, hah. Lone Wanderer is taken I bet. :P

:goodjob: Ugh, now I'm going to have to spend the whole day watching Simpsons episodes on TV. Thanks a lot.

But going back to the topic, I think I'd like to change my name to Adam Jensen.

I love my name! If I had a different choice, it would be Damien Drake.

I would but being only 14, I doubt it would be easy to change, also; above about everyone still calling me my old name (Jacob)
So there's no chance for the foreseeable future. It was just a fun little thread to see peoples opinions :)

Mrs. Axton would work for me at the moment.

....but seriously, I like my name. I'm used to it. Changing it now would just confuse me.

I'm okay with my name, I know of plenty worse names than my own. Plus my name is representative of the decade I was born in, (Any guesses?)

It's something I'm planning on, actually; just need to wait and time the legal change correctly so I'm not stuck with a weirdo name on my ID for too long.

I'm going to go with Gwendolyn, for a number of reasons: it's versatile(short or long, friendly or formal), it's Celtic(Welsh specifically; I'm a huge Celtic nerd), has some cool meanings("White Bow," "Fair Ring," or any combination of the two), and it just sounds pretty to me. What's more, I really, really identify with it. Can't wait till I can actually use it, my current name....urgh, makes me want to hurl.
