You guys better release it on Steam

Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 6:31 am

Hey guys, there have been rumors that EA may be excluding Steam from future releases, using their big IP's to promote their own store (EA store). I don't know if this is true, and I hope it's not. Personally, for various reasons, Steam is the best way for me to buy games, and if it's not available there, I will not purchase Crysis 2.

They will release it on steam.

They had the EA download manager before they moved to steam, so it's never been an issue with regards to steam releases of EA games.

Plus, it'd be like telling gamestop/gamestation/GAME that they can't sell the game, the only company it'd really hurt is EA.

OH PLEASE SAY YOU ARE JOKING! STEAM IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF **** **** I HAVE EVER USED! IT HAS COUNTLESS BUGS, CONSTANTLY DISCONNECTS FOR NO REASON, THE VOICE CHAT NEVER WORKS FOR MORE THAN 2 MINS, EVEN WHEN IT DOES WORK IT HAS A HUGE DELAY, AND IT ALSO STOPS ME PLAYING THE SAME GAME WITH MY SISTER LIKE WE CAN ON OTHER GAMES, AND I'M NOT GOING TO PAY £70 TO BUY 2 COPES OF THE SAME GAME.

Whoa! Chill, chill out. Caps lock does no justice.

I guess everyone has their own personal experience of Steam, I for one haven't used it before (But I'm guessing I might get to soon). But I can expect Crysis 2 to come out on it, I mean, what better way to get a PC gamers attention?

Just because you have a slow pc and/or a slow internet connection doesn't mean steam svcks.

*psst* steam has 30 million users.

Also, to the raging weirdo, steam does not mean steamworks if you're that bothered. It'll just make it a lot easier to pirate the multiplayer without it :)

I hate steam by limiting the game.

I mean I will not have mod tool, you can not create your own server to play with your friends, and dedicated servers that will have to pay.

please do not steam I have experience with this platform

well Need for Speed: Hot pursuit isn't being released on steam and is likely to be never released.. so as of now, you have to assume it won't release on steam..

btw why won't you buy the game if it isn't on steam?? as much as EA download manager no where close to steam, it works the same way if you get the game on EADM.. credit card payment, your games will remain for download whenever you want.. so i really don't see the logic behind your decision..

Ummm, seriously, no offence but why can't you just buy the disk version? I mean unless you are underaged or I don't know, you really woulnd't buy a game you want to have just because it's not on steam?

It'll be on steam. In this day and age it would be stupid not have a game available on Steam.

As long as it's not steam login dependent. That'd just svck balls.

I don't call a 2.6ghz dual core processor, with an ati 4870 & 4 gig ram slow, nor is a 20mb connection

These days, Steam is so optimized that it really doesn't make a difference.

Then you must have incorrectly configured your computer settings.

No, no.
Only no Steam, please.
It is the biggest **** what i was using, why?
1. Steam's Servers are overloaded in day of premiere. I wanna play, no wait.
2. Too many problems.
3. Problems with install game (Look on Call of Duty! Thousands problems.)
I think it only need a installer & anty-pirate system.
Please don't spoil the game, in this way!

Take this to heart, friends from Crytek.

I'm quite capable of keeping my computer in good nick and not messing up it's settings thank you very much! Why is it every non-steam game I have works great but i try to play DOW2, half life 2, COD MW or BO etc. there's always SOMETHING going wrong. It isn't just me either. Look on the forums.

Take another look at the pc games that came out this year and then say that again. Even black ops uses 4 cores :P You don't require a dual core in most games, but you'll definitely by cpu limited with a decent card. Plus 2010 is probably the last year of the dual core.

Anyways, it's not like quads are expensive, an athon II X4 630 is £63 and will teabag an e8400 into oblivion ^^

Regardless, the game won't use steamworks, but will be on steam. You will also be able to buy it in a shop! I'll probably buy a hard copy, just because the case will be cool to have, depending on whether or not im willing to risk not playing it on day 1 (steam is very reliable for being able to play, pre-load it and fun times).

Also, lol, at 'zomg no mod tools, servers ect.', that guy has never used steam obviously. I have a billion server tools in my 'tools' subfolder, and quite a few SDK's.

Yes some NEW games are (apparently) now adding support for quad and occasionally 6 cores, but there's still very few games out at the moment that do this.

I own some games on Steam, and I hate the offline issues. If it's not "well" validated (the game), you can't play offline. It also has some issues with modified content in some games, issues not present in retail (no steam) games. However it's great if games are released both ways, so you can choose the Steam version (Online multiplayer focused) or the retail one (Offline singleplayer and modder focused).

I have no doubt it will be available on steam as the current Crysis games are available there.
But i don't think it will be synchronized with steam like counterstrike is.

Agreed. Absolutely MUST have this game available for digital download on Day 1.

YOU may not enjoy Steam, but it's my preferred means of purchasing PC games.

YES to STEAM for me.

I for one won't buy the disk version because it can get scratched or broken, and if your going to reply to me....just be careful with it...or something like that. I have a 2 year old nephew do you? he likes dvd's way too much. you get my point?
personally I enjoy steam and they have alot of sales...I got l4d2 for 6$!!!! :D
