I like how nowadays you can still get some great cartoons.
Sure, I like a gritty drama, but I'm so glad there are still 2D cartoons.

Currently enjoying Montalbano on BBC 4 about a Sicilian detective. However in many ways hes a similar character to Aurelio Zen or Brunetti and faces the same problems (corrupt/incompetent bosses, Italian distrust of the state etc). Its very formulaic but well done
As for tv being better in the past people have been saying that for as long as I can remember (1970s). For me the golden era was early 80s when Channel 4 was new and less mainstream and Dennis Potter and Alan Bleasdale were at the height of their creativity

After I read the thread title I was waiting to read my name.

But yes I concur, most programs are pretty repetitive yet somehow we tune in to watch anyway, what a sad bunch we are.

Named after Aragorn's daddeh right? Is there a reason you chose it? Did Tolkien write much about him? (I love Tolkien but haven't really delved into the Appendices/Silmarillion/Unfinished Tales yet.)

Yeah. I was like 13 and couldn't think of anything else to call my first Oblivion character. Unfortunately it's stuck with me. And sorry to dissapoint, but I have no idea, i've never delved beyond lotr/the hobbit either. :(
