Playing Age of Empires II online for the first time. I was new, I svcked, and I got steamrolled in the first few minutes.

But I didn't go down. I retreated into my ally's base and rebuilt from NOTHING. We traded with markets to keep gold flowing and my ally basically carried the whole match. The trouble was that it was a stalemate. Wave after wave of his paladins faced off against their scorpions, and each time both sides were decimated. This went on for an hour before my master plan was carried out, and I cut a secret path with a siege onager through the thick woods.

A secret path right into the heart of the enemy base.

While the two giants were having another paladin vs. scorpion battle on the killing field, I swept into the enemy base with a fresh contingent of troops and gutted it clean.

It was a sound victory indeed.
Well played sir! :ninja:

Discovering the goodness of role-playing game by playing Oblivion. Mind-blowing moment.

Oblivion was my first true RPG, actually. I was so into old Nintendo games and Gamecube that once I was introduced to oblivion, oh my goodness! The freedom I had!

Ninja Gaiden 2. Thats the NES version, thank you very much. I beat Ashtar and thought that was it. But then the cut scene plays, and there's more to it, so I go through another level or two and discover that Jaquio is still alive. So I keep fighting and get up to him. Beat him, phew! Ah crap, he has a second form. Die, die, die! Oh, for the love of...a third form?! Aaargh! Then I finally beat him, and was so relieved. That battle was a rough one. One of the toughest NES games I ever played, though Blaster Master was worse.

I didn't think anything could surpass Fallout or STALKER or Metro 2033, but damn Dear Esther was an amazing experience.

Nothing matches my first couple of playthroughs with Diablo II. I doubt anything will.

Metal Gear Solid on the PSX.

I got the game around 10am in the morning. 10pm that night, I was watching the end credits.

BEST. DAY. EVER.

My first test of a modified Grinder in SPAZ. It had one tractor beam, its main weapon slot was an Overload Emitter, everything else was a Beam Booster and I used a Fixed Turret to make its turret a large Beam Booster. When I first saw its power well, it was a few minutes before I remembered to close my mouth.

Refereeing Masks of Nyarlathotep with a group of people who had never played Call of Cthulhu. I didn't let on what they were playing, just that it was an investigative game set in the 1920s. Some very shocked reactions when the wierd stuff started happening.

It's gotta be Doom2 with too many monsters with favorite music from the game.
Followed by MW3 Survival Mode especially when breaking my own record to reach wave 28 :-)

I am hoping Doom4 will beat both the above!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Amazing game that I spent more time than any other game on in my childhood.

..and as always I have to go with Suikoden II..
:D

Mine would likely be holding Halls in Guild Wars for like... Hours. We just stomped everybody. My first GvG battle was pretty cool, too. I mostly played Halls and GvG after they got rid of Hero Battles - I was ranked ~500 at one point and was steadily doing better and better. Can't wait for GW2.

Mine was playing the first missions of Warcraft 2. There was one human mission where you had multiple units in different colors under your control. I always tried to save them.

Hmm, I'd say going out to mow my lawn and finding a perfectly uncratched game sitting in the middle of it. Just waiting for the love it truely deserved. I wasn't very old at the time and didn't have much money, so this new game became my focus. at the time I had no idea what the title meant but the gameplay felt like a modern day THIEF game (My older brother introduced me to that franchise). So I loved every moment of the game. It still holds rank #1 in my pantheon of best games ever played by me.

Still don't know it?

One last hint...

Lets put on a trenchcoat,

and fight some conspiracies

get some experience,

and level up abilities

will you pick rifles or computers,

don't pick swimming

because its fairly useless

got it yet?
I'm of course referring to the original Deus Ex
THIS! END THREAD!

what a shame game!
