Your favorite build?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:44 pm

What's your favorite build? By this I mean which skills, race, standing stone ... Everything that makes your character!

My personal favorite is a Mage. Not using all of the skills, but quite a few of them.
Race: Breton
Skills: Alchemy, enchanting, destruction, illusion, conjuration
Stone: Mage

But what about you? Do you have any favorites? Feel free to post as many as you'd like - the whole idea of this thread is to give others ideas as to what build to try next!

Usually a Mage.

I'm enjoying a magic based assasin though :)
I'm a Breton.
Lover stone.
One handed, illusion, sneak, destruction.

Race: Human

Skills: Heavy Armor, Two-Handed and Restoration

I prefer the Crusader/Paladin character build and I prefer to play as human characters, even though I hav nothing against the other races.

When I first started playing TES as a kid I always used to roll a sneaky type, but nowadays I pretty much always find myself playing the mage guy. I still do enjoy a thief/assassin type every now and again though.

Currently, I've already grown bored of my Khajiit Monk, so I'm going to give a Mage another shot. This time I'm going to become overpowered by using all the magic schools.

Race: Altmer (I've FINALLY made my Altmer handsome looking, it took me about 45 minutes in the Character Creation, but I finally nailed it! I used to roll Khajiit Mages but I figured I'd finally give Altmer a try, they are very fitting mages after all.)

Skills: Destruction, Alteration, Conjuration, Illusion, Restoration, Enchanting

Stone: Mage (Going to be switching to Lord or Atronach as soon as I run into them though)

I am contemplating throwing Sneak into there and becoming an Assassin Mage of sorts, perhaps I will run my character through the DB quests so it fits. Who knows though, I've got time to think about it.

Is an assassin mage difficult? There are no sneak bonuses for magic, after all.

Altmer.
Healer.
Atronach stone.
No factions save College of Winterhold and the Bards' College.
Restoration, speechcraft, alchemy, enchanting for main skills, one handed because it would daft not to, a bit of destruction.

It's pretty easy once you get the Quiet Casting perk. I really wish they made the Shrouded Hand Wraps give spells the ability to get sneak attack bonuses, it would have made more sense than backstab bonus. Oh well.

Race: Dark Elf (fire resistance and badass looks)

Skills: Dual-wielding (all you really need and the only thing that's truly effective on a low level, plan on trying a pure mage build though), Sneak, Archery

Stone: Steed (always pick this one as soon as possible, regardless of build. It's mainly for those 100 points of carrying ability - always add the pickpocket perk of 100 as well - there's nothing I had more than being over-emcumbered. And of course, if I'm a heavy armor user it's nice to be able to move more freely)

Argonian

Guerilla Warrior: One-Handed, Block, Light Armor, Sneak, Enchanting (to get killing blows to recharge weapons) Illusion, Conjuration, (one point in archery for 20% dmg)

Atronach stone (going to switch to Lord or Serpent stone later on)

Playing my Arcane Archer at the moment. Lots of fun.

Altmer
Mage stone (for now; will switch to Lover or Lord at some point)

Archery
Alteration
Destruction
Conjuration
Enchanting

with a little Sneak thrown in.

Archery is self-explanatory. Alteration is for protection (he doesn't wear armor) and eventually utility spells. Destruction is for when enemies get too close, or to lay down runes. Conjuration is for the bound bow (no summons), and Enchanting is for making my own enchanted physical bows.

I'm playing this mostly as a non-sneak archer, so I rely on traps/runes and sprinting when things go bad. But in some dungeons I do sneak. I'm thinking of taking 3 sneak perks; just up to Deadly Aim for the 3x sneak attack with bows. Not sure yet.

It's pretty challenging on adept right now, because I'm spreading out my skills - and very fun. I have no melee capability other than the bow bash, so my Destruction spells need to be decent (another reason I took Altmer - the Magicka pool makes this kind of build not too frustrating early on).

traps

I wish they allowed us to craft traps. Like bear traps and such. I know there are mods for it, but I play on 360 anyway. Actually, I find it ridiculous that we cannot craft alot of things. We should be able to craft arrows. And robes too, using thread and stuff. Ah well.[

Edit: And the biggest surprise to me was how we can't make any staves either.

Drunk Monk
Breton
Mage stone
Skills - One handed, restoration, alteration Illusion and some enchanting

Great fun, meele based character (mace) who wears robes and only does good. No looting, stealing or murder and an alcoholic to boot. DPS is an issue though (master lvl) so you might want to mix in destruction instead of illusion.

Currently build is a Knight of the Circle (Atkayd military wing).

One handed, block, heavy armour, restoration with some smithing / enchanting (upto advanced armour).

I have 2 favourite builds at the moment: 1) Black Panther ( Khajiit ) assassin - takes a fair bit of messing around, but you can get her fur almost completely black all over  lord stone, with alchemy, archery, one handed, smithing, enchanting, sneak, illusion.
2) Blackened skin Argonian - dark ranger build.Again, same as the black panther,it takes a bit of messing around, but you can achieve an almost black with dark red patch skin effect - which kinda looks Daedric in some way  I go with lord stone, archery-illusion-conjuration ( necromancy) sneak, alchemy.

I can't choose my favorite... I have 3 favorite builds that I like for different reasons.

Build #1: Battle-Mage
Race: Breton
Skills:
Heavy Armor, Destruction, Conjuration, Restoration, One-handed, Smithing, Enchanting
Stone: Atronach

This build is so awesome because you can just charge in and blast anything with your one hand, and if they get too close you can just kill them with your sword

Build #2: Pure Mage
Race: Altmer
Skills:
Destruction, Conjuration, Alteration, Illusion, Restoration, and one point in sneak.

This build is so versatile, you can just deal with each situation in so many ways.

Build #3: Assassin-Mage
Race: Dunmer
Skills:
Sneak, Archery, One-handed, Illusion and Alteration.

This build is super fun too. I am currently playing this one and it is really fun to paralyze, turn invisible, slit throats and snipe people from afar

My main is a Nord warrior/scout.
Stone: The Lover - I like the +15 xp growth to all skills.
Main skills: one handed, block, heavy armor, alchemy, smithing

My Nord uses sneak+archery on ranged/unaware targets, sword+shield on melee enemies. Alchemical potions restore health/stamina. The flexibility keeps things fun. I like playing a durable character, but also with ranged options.

Build: Archer/Assassin/Thief

Race: Wood Elf

Skills: Archery, Sneak, Illusion, One-Handed, Light-Armour, Pickpocketing, Enchanting, Smithing, Speech

Stone: Thief at the beginning, then Lover Stone.

Archery and One-Handed are my main skills when it comes to combat, I only really use Illusion for Muffle, Invisibility and sometimes Fury when I can't be bothered fighting. Sneak is obviously vital when it comes to a build like this, and Enchanting and Smithing are used to forge better weapons and armour.

I find this type of build the most exciting. A mage build is alright, but I get bored after a while. I'm planning on joining the College of Winterhold though with my Bosmer, purely focusing on Illusion magic and nothing else.

Sec: Restoration, Alteration
Stone: Mage

Currently playing a Nord warrior, Accius.
Main: Onehand, Block, Heavy armor
Sec: Smithing, Archery
Stone: Warrior

I like all sorts of builds.

I played a Breton pure mage the first time through that ended up being sort of a spellsword toward the end. Now I'm playing an Orc brute warrior, both one handed, two handed, and shield skills. Next I'm most likely going to try a sneaky Bosmer assassin/archer type, using daggers and a bow.

I have many favorite builds. The latest one is a Nord no-magic warrior -- he uses no magic of any kind, so no healing spells and no enchanting. The only weapons he uses are Skyforge Steel and he only wears iron and steel armors, including Wolf armor and Ancient Nord armor. Perks go into Two Handed, Block, Heavy Armor and one point into Smithing to get Steel Smithing (may pick up arcane Smithing someday). He sometimes sneaks but never sneak attacks. He uses a bow for game and dragons that won't land but does not perk archery.

He might someday use an enchanted weapon or armor he finds, but won't fill soul gems (unless perhaps he finds a soul trap weapon), so would have to find or buy filled ones to recharge. So far at level 22 he has not used any enchanted gear. I am not sure if he ever will.

Alchemy is more akin to cooking than magic, so he will use and perk alchemy, although he finds enough healing potions, so he really does not need to make that many.

Lady Stone.

Breton
Sneaky battlemage/ archer
Archery, onehanded and destruction
Lovers stone
The Breton was a great choice. At the start the conjuration bonus was great as it was the only magic I used. I trained to 50 archery with Fadenal and can now 1 hit bandits EPiC.
Sneak bonus was helpful and one handed levelled up with long time use.

Nice work everyone! It's really interesting to started everyone's favorite builds. Keep it up!

I'm thinking of starting a non-sneak archer, inspired by a few threads I've seen around.
Race: Bosmer
Skills: archery, destruction (for runes), illusion (for frenzy and fear spells), light armor, alchemy.
Stone: I'll probably start with warrior for the archery boost, but switch to the lover stone as soon as my character is in the right area.

Should be fun, yes?
