More of a Shagwell man myself.

Me too. Wait, are we still talking about ASoIaF?

King Stannis Baratheon is a boss. Sure, he's wrong about damn near everything, but the way he goes about acting on his incorrect beliefs and silly convictions is damned awesome. You also have to love his deadpan lines.

Brandon Stark is awesome for reasons that are terribly spoilerific.

J'aqen H'gar: you know why.

The imp, of course.

But all the Starks are pretty impressive too.

I don't understand why so many people are fond of the Tyrion from the show. I haven't seen all of the episodes in the show but from what I did see the lack of internal dialogue made Tyrion come out as being a lot shallower than how he is portrayed in the books. Granted the same goes for other characters but Tyrion is just one of these characters where being able to know their thoughts is so important for properly understanding them.

Yeah, a lot of the characters come across as a lot more shallow than they do in the book. I think that's just the nature of TV/movie adaptations of books. It's more noticeable in some characters more than others, obviously. That said, I think Tyrion's main character attributes come across sufficiently well on the show. Then again, I read the books well before the show aired, so maybe that colored my perception a bit.

Also, Peter Dinklage is far and away the best actor in the cast. That probably has somthething to do with it as well.

Hmm, tough to say. I've only watched the show, though I have the books (I bring shame upon the Helmet house). I liked Arya, always getting into trouble. And Daenarys was pretty cute, though her character was pretty boring the majority of the season.

Tyrion.

I should probably have said a more obscure character for reasons already stated in this thread by Waspinator. :(

I will go the well trodden path and say Tyrion, books and film.
(I probably like him better as a character in the film because of the book to be honest)

Some obscure one-page character from a book after Game of Thrones and before Feast for Crows, thus making me instantly recognizable as a tr00 fan of A Song of Ice and Fire, instead of calling it after the tv-series.

Oh yeah.
No character is truly obscure unless they are in the Wheel of TIme series

This. I personally think Jean Bean and Lena Headly played the characters better than in the books.
And now my list in order.

Nobody
Tyrion Lannister
Brienne
Jamie Lannister
Davos
Sansa Stark
Spoiler

After she was taken away to the Vale and took the other identity.
Quaithe (I think she's better sorceress than Melissandre, at least she hooked up the right one)
Melissandre (just because she's so damn hot)
Ygritte (I just love girls who know how to handle themselves)
Sam & Gilly
Podrick

Ok I guess that's too many for a favourite one

Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf, is pretty funny. But I don't have a favourite so far.

(I have to be very careful here, someone already spoiled a little from the books.)

The midget.

What he said. I think he was the only one in the series that actually acted well.
