Your most satisfying moment in gaming?

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2016 4:50 pm

Oh I have another good one, I was playing CoD MW3 on the 360 with some friends and we were playing Infection, well in one match it was coming down to the wire and there was three people holding their ground, well I threw one knife at one person, stabbed the second person and spun around and stabbed the other guy all in about 1.5 seconds. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL  .

And Super Castlevania IV is incredible.

As for me, well, I simply cannot pick one, because nothing really stands out to me. I've beaten numerous hyper-difficult games, beaten impossible odds with severe disadvantages and caused some of the most fantastic scenes via über-elaborate "Mouse Trap"-esque ambushes or setups.

The most satisfying moments are when I can put the game down and declare it as time well spent. Most recently, that happened with Metal Gear Solid V, because it was thoroughly enjoyable all the way through. It met and exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend that game.

Next up will be XCOM 2. Such satisfaction from extreme tactical proficiency is what I expect. Beating the odds, and doing it with style. Hopefully the soundtrack is as good as the previous game too. Music can often be tragically overlooked in video games, or shipped with a "stock" orchestral soundtrack that was a complete waste of such an opportunity.

Anyway, here's to more exceptional moments in gaming, and less of the crap that has infested the industry of late.

Sniper Elite V2: Pulled off a 200 m head shot that entered the enemy snipers scope, through the eyeball, and out the back of his head. Was glorious.

I think I've seen a little bit of it. Looks like fun. I love me a good ol' fashioned side scroller (I have had the urge to play Super Mario Bros. 3 recently, but I do not have the means to do so).

Is SCIV the one with the wall chicken?

That was an entertaining read. 'Tis a wonderful feeling to put someone in their place, indeed.

Wing Commander on SNES was a single mission that went on forever. When I realized it.

Another great moment in gaming for me is beating King Gallagher in Super Valis IV (a REALLY watered down version of the PC version) on the SNES, I loved the Valis series and I was happy to put this one to rest. I still have the cartridge as it is one of my favorite snes games.

All of them have wall chicken and wall pork chop.

But pork buns? Man, you have to travel to Hong Kong for that!

Beating Wind Waker. It took me a year to do or so, and I was only seven or eight. It was the first big game I had ever finished, and it was an intense journey. I beat Ganon a few minutes before the bus came to take me to school. It is and will always be my favorite game (and game series) of all time.

My journeys in Tamriel are important too, though. :P

Haha lmao. I think many of us gamers have moments of relief like this. In may case I felt so good when I quit playing WOW. Too much time spent, too many repetitive chores.

Hmm. Prolly blowing up the oil rig in Fallout 2. Since I can't stand the game-play, beating that game was satisfying as hell.

Is that the Armageddon mission, the one you play if you're on the losing path?

I was down a path like that in Wing Commamder 3. It got depressing so I started from scratch and made sure I was on the winning path. Much more cheerful lol.

A YouTuber named BCSBuster did a LP of the entire Wing Commander series and showed the bad endings from the SNES game as well as Wing Commander 3 and 4.

overcoming a hard part of a game is one thing, but being able to unite other players from all walks of life in order to overcome the human nature of a jerk is an entirely different feeling

Wind Waker Ganondorf was a joke. What a complete travesty they committed! He was way too easy and the ending was the worst part of the game for me. I enjoyed exploring the ocean and finding treasure, but some of that game really svcked too. They introduced Beedle, they split the franchise between the "kiddy" cel-shaded games and the "realistic" other ones and it was too damn easy for the most part.

Skyward Sword was like a halfway meeting point between the two different styles, but seriously, writing an ORIGIN STORY for the ENTIRE LoZ franchise in 2011 is about 25 years too late. Plus, I felt that it once again cheapened Ganondorf, who is eternally made out to be some kind of weakling with the way he fights.

Twilight Princess was excellent, Majora's Mask was the best (no "whipping boy" Ganondorf and an odd obsession with the macabre), but the Oracle games and Link's Awakening remain in second and third place respectively.

Still, most Zelda games are better than most other games, even the ones I rate fairly lowly. It's the same thing with lots of established franchises. You could say that you like some Resident Evil games (for example) more than others, but most RE games are still better than most games.

Anyway, we'll see what happens in March. I'm going full self-censorship on the new LoZ game, so as far I'm concerned, everything is spoilers (items, locations, characters etc). I do this only for games I'm genuinely looking forward to though (Did it for Fallout 4 and XCOM 2 in the last year. Still don't want DX:MD spoilers either, even if I'm holding off on buying it until I think I'm getting a good deal for it).

I always wonder about the generation which grows up playing the game people dislike. It must be precious to them if only for that experience.

Not the hardest boss, but I'll argue he and his puppet forms are a smidge tougher than OoT's two forms. Not too shabby for a second grader who still watches Blues Clues on occasion, if I don't say so myself.

I've said it before here, but Ocarina of Time is one of my top 3 games of all time. Finally beating Ganon was definitely an exclamation mark on the end of a superb gaming experience.

Loved OoT. I actually was stuck on Ganon's first form for a while. And then it didn't help that I ran out of magic, requiring me to restart the save. #speedrunning

That's how I was with Final Fantasy 7. I played it day in and day out, and was totally into the story line. I actually watched the credits all the way to the end, I loved that game so much.
