Your perfect class

Its true that runic power was used to magic spells. But the main source of dmg still came from melee strikes death coil was suplement to your melee dmg and an option if the enemy was out of range. The dk used magic to further increas his (melee generated) dmg as a secondary tool of dealing dmg IMO. But yeah conjuration should be the biggest skill after 2h and heavy armor and dont forget you get a death grip as DK:P
No, main source of damage from unholy was empowered ghoul and death coil. and melee strikes were to spend runes
Frost dk is nothing without howling blast because it was build around crits and spamming howling blast

Frost dk was mainly based around Dual wielding

Also Dragon Knight is fire based, not good for frost dk.

The types of classes are going to be off the wall in this game, especially at first. I am still a little hesitant as to how it all is going to balance out when we are all battling in Cyrodiil.

For me I plan on doing a dragonknight that's mainly dps with a little bit of a battlemage mix, or a templar that is basically a paladin type class.

It will be impossible to balance an open-ended character creation/lvling toon in the game since based on other threads about people's choices, many are going for hybrids(ie moving away from the boring formula of the "holy trinity" as you young whippersnappers say these days. Will a pure offensive, heavy armor, 2h sword of kick-[censored] juggernaut be able to beat a hybrid fighter? Probably depending on the fighter's chosen skillset, but you never know. Is that a balance problem? Not the way i see it but your point is valid and will make for an interesting beta for character testing.

A battlemage/shaman like character - my plan is to start with the Sorceror class line, use a 2handed polearm/spear/glaive for a weapon, and focus on a mix of medium and light armor. The basic idea is to create a primarily melee oriented character where the stacked stamina from medium armor allows for frequent dodging and power attacks, while using close range destruction spells, defensive/ward spells, and summoning spells for melee support. The closest class from another MMO would be the deathknight or shaman from WoW, or an assassin/shadow from SW:TOR - a melee heavy weapon (2h) class with support spells.

I'm also hoping that between the mix of defensive spells like wards, mage armor, or life draining spells and the ability to parry/dodge, I'll be able to efficiently off-tank in situations that require it, though obviously the character is more focused on damage and support.

As far as summoning goes - we're not sure what kinds of summons will be available through the sorceror's daedric summoning tree (yet), but I'll probably use some form of utility/support summons if I'm able to - a clanfear, winged twilight, or scamp perhaps, and failing those probably a flame or storm atronach.

this is basicly what i wanna do maybe i should start with the sorcerer class after all:P the only thing i would change is the use of heavy armor.

Just reading all of the possible combinations gets me excited for the large scale battles.

I've never really thought of frost/unholy DKs as mages in plate until now, but it made my head asplode...

After all creating a perfect clone of one of the death knight specs isnt gonna be possible anyway i just want a tanky melee fighter that uses defensive and support magic to slow his opponents and defend himself from magic dmg with undead summoning if im gonna be able to do some death magic with that aswell that would be awesome. But personally i think it would be best to limit the skills that you wanna use in order to keep it most effective in this case im choosing defensive magic over destro magic (think of AMS AMZ IBF Sacrefice ect)

It would be great though if the devs made a huge amount of possible skills to combine. Like a stealth character with a 2h sword for example

I have to see the trees before making a concrete decision.

a dark elf, medium armor sorcerer dual wielding swords or staff, practicing lightning magics primarily - pure dps

or
a nord, heavy armor templar wielding 2 swords or a sword and shield, utilizing self heals through hp drains, or ae healing abilities - self healing tank

Archer-Rogue hybrid. An assassin. Leather and mail gear. Would love poison blow darts. Trickery and deception when in close combat. Deadly efficiency with the bow at range.

Yeah things like poison blow darts and throwing knifes would be great. Aswell as close range deception skills like blinding powder or whatever
I doubt that most of these things will be inplemented though maybe as a stealthy type ability that you can unlock
