I bet $20 that only Google+ and possibly Gmail users can be replied to/upvoted. Check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KH4NrUxcsYs, check the top comments, find the ONLY COMMENT you can respond to and look at what it says next to his name. That comment's a year old.

I guess you'll have to move to twitter to comment freely on youtube now I guess.

Does Google own Twitter? I am note sure nor do I care how Twitter works. I don't like the idea that all social medias have to be this giant blob of crap that you can't use one without dealing with all the other forms. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and whatever the hell else it just bugs me.

The most active I am in the online world is this forum. Youtube a far second.

I've spent the past 2 hours trying to figure out how to reply to a comment on a vid of mine, and I can't as i no longer see a "reply to" button by their post.. guess I can't respond and answer his question...


seriously, Youtube was fine just as is.. but google is trying to integrate everything with Google+ because of the money they sinked into it thinking everybody would switch over to it from facebook.. which of course few people did..

I just noticed another huge problem with this new stupid system.

Alot of channels that I normally watch ask for people to leave ideas in the comments section... So how are they supposed to do that now?

And I noticed that those who are making posts have "Via Google Plus" beside their user names. I am also seeing people making comments about how it svcks to have this new system lol.

First it was forcing people to change their screen names to their real names, which I somehow got to keep StylesV13 but everytime I sign in I have to make sure it is set to youtube as StylesV13 and not my email address I used for my account

It just looks dumb as hell to see "Via Google Plus" beside every name and only seeing posts form Google+ people and the posts are few and far between now.

I'm telling you, I'm betting that's what it is. I bet only Google+ people can be upvoted and/or replied to.

I can make a comment on the video just fine, but you used to be able to press "reply to" on anothers comment, it would then say your comment was in reply to s comment, and would notify them...


But that button is no longer there, and if I just reply to him by commenting on the video its self he may not be aware i replied..

Exactly, and I bet if we get two users in this thread; one Google+ and one something else, only the Google+ poster will have the "reply to" or "upvote" features activated.

That vid I linked has comments from over a year ago, and the ONLY ONE that can be upvoted or replied to to this day? Just so happens to be someone that was using Google+ one year ago.

I signed in and I left a comment on a random chanel. I could reply and vote to my own comment. And one other guy.

I am sure that is what it is. Google+ was a huge fail, Facebook is tanking and Google put all this work into Google+ to connect all social media so they could take all our online info and sell it.

But people didn't want to use Google+ and now they are forcing it on people. Heck I had "Do you want to switch to Google+" messages for well over a month, in my email, everytime I logged on to youtube and so on. And then one day I log on and it's like "Ok enough dikeing around, you're getting google+ whether you want it or not!"

So now I have Google+ and I still don't want it.

Actually... I signed out of G+ a couple of weeks ago. That is, after getting a notice every other day that they were going to shut G+ down.

I still run a Google browser, just not G+, anymore. However, my YT account could still be tied to that G+ account.

Also, this is fun: for some reason that old feature of being able to write "8:10 best part" and people could click the 8:10 cause it auto-linked to that time in the vid?

I can't even scroll past a certain amount of comments, so I guess it won't bother me so much. The View/Show More button has vanished and my browser just gets "stuck" scrolling.

Did they really get rid of that feature @Longknife? I guess it's not too much of an inconvenience to take an extra second to click, but I don't see any reason why that would be removed, either.

What bugs me more is the "ADD ALL THIS STUFF TO YOUR G+ PROFILE!" and "USE YOUR REAL NAME!" I'd rather not, thank you.

For some reason, everytime YT "Upgrades," everyone has an issue with it, and for good reason. I wonder if anyone is going to create a new Youtube with all the Original features that made it so great before Google bought them out and instituted changes.

Bring back the 5-star rating and yellow subscribe button, with the description on the side of the video, and the title above it! I will always remember those days, before "Content blocking" and Vevo, which was one of the main reasons for adblock in the first place.
