315 hours and it keeps getting better!

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 7:48 pm

Over 300 hours, maybe 400, on my second game, couldn't finish the first because of a problem but I don't care; patch is coming. I'll be playing for years. With DLC coming and mods and Radiant AI, it's different every time I play. Just love it. :tes:

It was around 300 hrs. in Oblivion when my character was so powerful (lvl 33) that even the toughest opponents weren't much of a challenge. Not so with Skyrim! I'm lvl 39 and just got owned by three snow trolls and glad of it!

Three words for you: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15256. For all those Oblivion residents who relish a feeling of constant paranoia, and the knowledge that no matter how large they grow, something around the next corner might give new meaning to the verb defenestrate.

Glad Skyrim's working out for you, though. None of the ES games are really better than one another. Each have their strengths and flaws, and each appeals to a different audience. :)

I got the game on release, and I still can't wait to play it when I have time. I'm still on my first character, imperial 2h / archer, with over 120 hours. Haven't completed any guilds or even the main quest. I love this game, man.

I loved Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, but at the time when I used it my computer would crash constantly when I was in external environments. I think I was using it at an earlier and less stable stage. TBH, the instability of Oblivion is what eventually caused me to stop playing it, not because I was bored of it.

I will say that vanilla skyrim to me is a lot better than vanilla oblivion. With all Bethesda games, it's about mods, so I can't wait to see what Skyrim eventually becomes once the CK is out.

Any PC people who want a change-up for a future playthrough, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6wtuYzRaVI where he covers Realistic Lighting Without Post-Processing. I installed that plus subliminal traps and tougher traps, then took off the enemy and stealth indicators with iHud like he shows in the video. That made the whole stealth experience a lot more intense! I wish I would of had this set up earlier in my playthrough.

I just walk for two hours, without using my map and find stuff. Then I go back later to clear the dungeons and such. I'm lvl 20 an haven't Ben gotten to the Rifteb suburbs yet.

Skyrim ftw

I know this will seem weird, but although I don't find much that's fun in Skyrim-as-it-currently-is, I'm delighted some people are really enjoying it enthusiastically. Each of the ES games is very different, no two alike, and there's no reason they should appeal in the same degree to the same people. Your pleasure mirrors mine in Morrowind or heavily modded Oblivion, and I can't say a bad thing about that. Go for it.

I'm happy for you OP! Kind of tired of the whiney threads on this forum :P Nice to see someone loving the game for a change. I'm not sure how many hours I'm on since I've created and deleted so many characters. But I'm about to hit my 1000th saved game. :whistling:

Ahh yes, a few weeks ago i entered a draugr infested ruin, to find strange blue orbs of light following me around and gaining in number until about 10 or so were following me... They would illuminate the dark crypt around me, it was quite magical, and strange.
Yesterday i completed the Dark Brotherhood quest line, and my god.... Best quest line in the game!

I just upped the difficulty from adept to expert and the Dragon fights are definately more epic now.

I still have LOTS more exploring to do; plants and alchemical ingredients to collect and concoct into ever-increasingly potent potions (I love fiddling around at an alchemical lab finding new lethal combinations), armor and weapons to create and enchant! I continue to marvel at the beautiful, detailed and varied graphics, that out shine any other game I've played!

My magic is steadily getting better as I level up, still finding new tomes and I'm still honing my battle skills. Some underground structures are so big that it takes three times to completely explore them...and I haven't even started Blackreach! NPCs are still giving me side-quests and I'm only about one-third the way through the main quest. Yes, there are glitches, but they are few and far between. The game has not crashed once on my mid-to-high end PC, nor even hiccuped during the most graphic-intensive action scenes.

To Bethesda I say hats off to you! Skyrim deserves to be GOTY.

How dare you come here and post something positive. The sheeple will not invite you into their fold with behavior like that...

300 hours of gameplay and you're only 39? (<--Right...??) I'm at around 300 hours now too. but I have 2 characters in lvl 50+, one in lvl 15, one in lvl 12 and one in lvl 23. That's weird, might even be impossible unless you just use the same sets of skills over and over again (but that's a bit boring, imo)

E-peening is so 2009.

Next you'll be asking for leader-boards.

229 hours in, and it keeps getting worse.
Though I suppose it would happen to any game I play for such a long time but Skyrim really has unforgivable flaws to it that makes it tedious and overly repetitive to play.
I'm gonna go and do some real roleplaying in Fallout New Vegas with my lovely lovely mods before I try to create another character in Skyrim.
Cause if I don't take a break I'm pretty sure I'm gonna perform Seppuku.

(And to give reasons: unbalanced health/damage system that either makes me too powerful, too weak or makes enemies too damage sponge'y. Repetitive dungeons. Boring loot. Unrewarding quests. Forgetable NPC's. Dungeon crawler emphasis. Constant Dragon attacks. Draughr Deathlords around every [censored] corner. Economy broken. Already got the best gear I need. Forced quests. Broken quests. Boring combat. Dumb dialogue. I need to play something that is actually fun so I can forget about all these flaws and return later. Hopefully when the CK is released and great mods that fix some of these things are out.)
