Seriously, the CoD bashing just gets silly. Yes, Skyrim's a good game. Yes, you may not like FPS's.
That doesn't change the fact that the previous installments have broken sales records every time. The new one has three times the pre-orders that Skyrim has. Today's Best Buy flyer shows tons of third-party accessories in MW3 colors. There's an awful lot of people out there who like it & will buy it.
The whole "Trollolol! MW3 suxxors! We much more smarts than n00bs who MW3!11!1one! Why would they ever prefer to do a midnight launch for that over Skyrim?!?" comes across as pretty dumb.
(and for the record... haven't played a CoD game, or any other WW2 shooter, since the original. And don't care about online multiplayer anything.)
None of the reasons in your post are any of the reasons I have for not liking MW3. I personally logged
WAY too much time on the first MW and readily pre-ordered MW2. I got it launch day, popped it in, and two hours later I was bored with it. Why? Because it's the same damned game as the first one, with a new paint job. It has nothing to do with my anticipation for Skyrim, the fact that it's "popular" or that it's the best selling game of all time. What that tells me is that there are way too many people out there buying hype, not a game. It's what I like to call "Cartman Syndrome." It has nothing to do with it's merits as a game, and everything to to with social status. They gotta be the first on their block to get it, along with the special edition X-box, aftermarket special edition controllers, and premium member services. They gotta be the first to unlock the guns, perks, and rank out, and find the glitches, then set to smashing all the people that haven't spent the first 18hrs after launch in a Mountain Dew induced fever, laughing and spewing obscenities at them over the headset for being "pWnt NooWWbZ."
THAT is the reason I no longer play the MW series, and probably never again will.
