Please, how does it work ?
From how I use facebook, telling people what I'm doing, showing drawings / animation etc, setting up the odd event and communicating with people.
Most of this I could do by text, phone, MSN, email, face-to-face or even sent a letter.
I somewhat agree with you, I've recently connected with my old friends from my old town that I've not seen in 5 years. But seeing what they've became over the years has led me to have a very negative opinion towards them. Also, seeing the "true colours" of the people around me has led me to the same opinion. But it does root out those people that you never expected to be just like you
I'm socially awkward, last summer when I got Facebook and Twitter I became... well, social. I got actual friends, went outside, got a girlfriend, etc... If I never joined I'd still be a hermit that played Halo all day, costing mother and father a fortune in electricity bills

Not entirely so much the case of recently after my girlfriend broke up with me I've returned to what I used to be quite a bit. Not to get too personal, but basically seeing other people tweeting and making statuses makes me feel less lonely.
Back on topic: I don't see anything coming out from this. Facebook will survive and continue to operate methinks. Anon can go to hell, same with LulzSec. I used to follow their tweets and it was almost cult like.
