Another glorified 1st person shooter like FO3?

Who is this "Sawyer" person you speak of?

He's director of the FNV project at Obsidian.

Yep...he's easy to spot because his user name is orange in "currently viewing" lists.

Indeed he does. Lurking at random and pondering, it would seem. From what we know of the hardcoe game mode, nothing bad has come of it until now.
He also was one of the lead designers of the original, canceled Fallout 3, which too is why this whole deal is so awesome for many oldschool fans. ^_^

I really hope the game's leveling is balanced. The level cap is 30, and we all know how big of a mistake that was in Fallout 3.

Yeah me to, after broken steel it seemed like i was a human god more than anything....

Right, which is why it would probably be better to drastically slow down the rate at which you level up rather than increase the level cap.

Well after hearing lots about how amazingly hard point lookout is,
i really kitted up before coming over...and i was very dissapointed,
it seemed a bit to easy even on Vhard. Maybe I'll start it at level 18.... (Oh and this was when i was at level 30) ;) :P

I think talking to SM other than an actual companion/named NPC would be pretty dumb, more so with deathclaws.

So you though Uncle Leo was dumb? :(

It can be quite hard. I was at turtledove detention camp once. Got swarmed by about five Reavers and three Glowing ones. After about one-hundred shotguns shells, and a whole #$&@ load of rockets, they were all lying dead on the ground.

But that's enough off-topic-ness for one thread.

I personally found it a little harder than other areas, but not by a lot. Even on hard the whole of Fallout 3 was fairly easy, then again, most games are pretty easy nowadays. Point Lookout did force me to use a lot of ammo since some of the enemies were apparently made of flesh-colored steel, so I guess that's sort of like making it harder. :P

Alright, at level 30 you really are invincible. Even the +35 damage the weapons do no matter what you wear don't bother people who are sprinting like Grim and exploding like nukes. :P

Yes because I definately did not just say "Talking to unnamed SM/Deathclaws would be dumb" but really said "Uncle Leo is dumb." Of course.

Uncle Leo and Fawkes are east coast super mutants. They maybe smart now but they will become dumb as they get bigger till they become out of control Behemoths.

this does not happen to west coast mutants.

Sentient Deathclaws were a cool idea in the first games, but that's what they were, ideas. People need to stop begging for old ideas to make returns and start brainstorming for new ideas. You can't eat your cake and have it, as they say.

Dumber than the intelligent Super Mutants of Fallout 1/2? Definitely. However I'm not so sure this is as much a result of the Vault 87 FEV as it is shoddy writing. Either way neither Uncle Leo nor Fawkes are as intelligent as characters like the Lieutenant and Marcus.

I never remember learning from the game, or anywhere else, that they actually grow more stupid as they age/become larger in size. I thought the level of intelligence had to do with how irradiated they were when they were experimented on. And that they'd keep that intelligence, at least unless they gained brain damage....or something along those lines.

I could be wrong-I just was wondering if this is really the case. Because, again, I never remember hearing either coast had super mutants that loss intelligence like that.

Also-I really don't find Fallout 3 as a 'glorified FPS.' It is honestly one of the best games I've ever personally played, and certainly far more like a RPG(with several plots, and ones of depth, as well as characters who actually develop and aren't absolutely shallow) than most games I've gone through. And it's definitely no FPS, which have little to no options in what your character does. You just shoot things, and are cursed to follow the plot until the very end-one you have no real effect on.

Of course, it could improve. But no game is perfect. Though I am excited at the idea that Obsidian will be able to make the RPG aspects even better in Fallout: New Vegas. Point is, I think people(as one person said earlier) take Fallout 3 for granted a bit. However, the fact that Obsidian will likely be better in the writing and plots is good news-naturally.

This started out on a pretty bait-ish note, given the thread title, and has meandered around, with half the posts of the "what I want in FONV...", which could, of course, be inhttp://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1078699instead.
