I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
There's not much here different from OB or Fallout or any of the Bethesda games. Admittedly in FONV the merchants scaled with the player and got an influx of cash—it's too early to tell if that happens here.
How is it too early...? Many people who played the game from the get-go, are well in the upper levels. From what I understand/understood you can up the gold if you do farm/woodcut/mining jobs... But I haven't tested it. (ie boring as hell imho)
As soon as you level there is, I believe, a tiny tiny increase in Gold, nowhere near as big as FO:NV though.
As for the Riverwood trader. Could be bug or a hidden feature of some sorts.. If it is a bug, pretty good chance they'll leave it in (Beth. claimed they are not going to nerf every bug or exploit, if it makes the game more fun)
On the whole Console vs PC clash. Like others said: Some don't have a decent enough PC. Others like myself like to play it on a console. Talking for myself I occasionally buy old Beth titles for the PC (so on budget), install the best mods... and then re-experience the game.
Btw: The
option, is, I feel, cheating. The game as is (i am not talking about using the console to fix bugs) So adding encumbrance, gold, items and available money by the traders can destroy aspects of the game. Inventory management, finding powerfull weapons and dealing with a lacklustre economy are parts of a good RPG.
