Post » Sun May 27, 2012 2:31 pm

I have some souped up armor I made with smithing, but I'm wondering if anyone has enough septims to buy it near full price.

No, there are no merchants with that amount of cash. The most your likely to see is two grand tops.

No, but there is a mod that allows for that - http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=769 . It has several options - one being merchants having 10.000 gold.

Well damn, what's the point of having super expensive things if nobody can buy it? Ah well, I'll just take what I can get.

Is there a "creeper" or a "mudcrab" merchant in Skyrim that anyone has found yet?

Loved that about Morrowind.

If you have the invest perk from speech you can invest 500 gold in the merchant at Riverwood and he gets 11,000 gold. I guess a throwback to Mudcrab only in a better position? Theres a repeatable persuade "cheat" in Riften which you can use to get your speech up to the 70 required for the perk in less than 30 mins, which is what I did.

Obviously you're gonna gain a few levels from this but if you do it early on it's such a convenience. I didn't do it till about level 30-35 so I missed out on the most use. Also it uses up 3 perks I think so if you're build is tight you might not have this option.

If you perk your speech skill you can add a total of 1500 to merchants, upping them to around 3k each. Given you only net around 50% for most sells thats not a bad amount.

I love how that everyone asking a question is assumed to be playing on a PC so they can resolve everything by opening up the Console on PC and making a cheat/hack/mod. For the 75% of all users playing on 360 or PS3, these console mod replies are simultaneously hilarious and useless.

pretty much. Anyhow OP, best option would be to take payment for the armor in junk items from the vendor, then sell those back to other vendors.

Best solution I can think of, for users with PS3 or Xbox, without any Perks for extra gold, is to find a trainer with a skill relatively high, that can also sell or buy items from you.

Armor, I believe the Light Armor merchant in Riften (Merchant stands) would be a good suggestion, i'm sure there are others around too.

It's costing me nearly 2000+ each training, X5, now over 10k. (Note they don't always train past 75)

With now over 10k gold on the merchant, I so happened to have brought my inventory of stock for sale... and get 99.9% of my money back.

You don't really make gold (well, perhaps the extra 1k they probably have on them) but you do get free training in the process, and also sell your equipment for what it's worth, rather then having it down to 4k only (or in my case, barely 1 ><)

This. I thought this was the coolest throwback to the mud crab and creeper from morrowind.

1st i'd like to see a link for your 75% figure....2nd the reply is still usefull for 25% even if thats correct so shush....3rd anyone posting in these forums is prolly doing it from a computer which has the chance of running Skyrim on it so its not so farfetched now is it? stop being a console snob.

i wish they'd lvl'd the gold better that vendors have. its such a pain to HAVE to level speech craft to be able to sell your high end items for even close to what their worth. having to make trips all over the province isnt much fun either. it seems like cause an effect is what hapened here...someone said "how do we make speech craft useable and appealing? i know lets set the gold limit on vendors super low so you HAVE to take it for any appreciable difference in your earnings" /head esk

It's really your own fault for playing on the inferior consoles. It really isn't "elitism", the PC is just leaps and bounds ahead of the consoles. The anti PC sentiment is just as old.

You could just use the console and give yourself 100K gold and dump the item, if gold is all you are wanting anyway.

My suggestion would be to buy a lot of stuff from the merchant (that you can use) and then sell your armor and get your money back.

As far as the console systems v. PC discussion. Let's try not to start a flame war and get the forum post locked. Each has it's own advantage to how you would like to play. I personally play both, just depends on my mood. Sometimes it's fun to just play on a controller and go through the game naturally (and yes I relize the PC version supports controllers) and sometimes it's fun to open the PC console and get the epic weapons/abilities to just own everything in your path.

Actually there is a merchant that has 10,000 gold. I don't know if this is a bug but Lucan in Riverwood has 10900 gold after I invested in his store. It might be a bug because none of the other merchants I invested in got that high in cash.

Typically just check the shop and if there's something you wouldn't mind getting just get it and sell expensive junk to cover it. Besides that nothing else to do.

I thought that in this version of the game the shopkeepers were supposed to have more money?

What's the point of having items that cost 60k if the most you can ever sell them for is 2k?

That's just irritating.

I can confirm this he usually has around 11k to 14k (if you get the final perk in speech the one that adds 1k).

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

There's not much here different from OB or Fallout or any of the Bethesda games. Admittedly in FONV the merchants scaled with the player and got an influx of cash—it's too early to tell if that happens here.

The whole concept of the economy is to buy and sell. Accruing cash is difficult by design to slow training and make major purchases like homes and high-end gear take some effort.

As I understand it there is at least one Merchant exploit to make cash on back and forth trades. it was mentioned here early on and you might find it by searching.

Disparaging consoles or PCs serves no constructive purpose, neither does whining that someone who has taken the time to answer a question didn't take your platform into consideration. Reminds me of a beggar that would throw back a dollar bill and huff that he only accepts Euros.
