Anyone else collect meaningless crap?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:53 pm

I collect skulls and put them in the spare basemant room of Proudspire. Also in there are a saw, tongs, bloody rags, human hearts and flesh. I was going to just keep piling skulls in there after each visit to a cave etc, but I might end up using this room for a newfound collecting/hoardig love: gold ingot. While these are hardly meaningless, my character has so much money at Level 36 that I certainly dont need to be collecting and storing like this.

Spoiler

This is 27 total bars in this container. Its hard to tell from this shot, but it is 3 layers deep of ingots.

I also have a set of shelves outside the bedroom in Proudspire which contains bottles of skooma, sleeping tree sap, Black-Briar regular & reserve bottles, Honningbrew mead, Spiced wine and the 3 special drinks Talen-Jei has (Cliff Racer, Velvet LeChance and White-Gold Tower).

I collect unique weapons/items. Anyone know if there's a way to keep items Delvin pays for (like the statues)? They're quest items, so you can't drop 'em and once he buys them off you, they disappear from the world (I think). They're not in his inventory, anyway. PS on 360

Wow. Awesome. Good to know im not the only collector.

I think the "meaningless" was not the right word. I mean, ofcourse i collect weapons and armor and books and stuff. I have one of every weapon, and armor. I keep all assassination contracts, fliers, notes, journals, and scrolls in the nightstand next to my bed in breezehome.

But i love to see other people collecting the "other" stuff. Like flagons, skulls, embalming tools, and whatnot. That gold ingot stack is incredible. Good job.

Oh and i believe oblivion got me started on the collecting kick. I think mainly cause of the times where you would have assumed something would never be needed, but then you need it later and your almost screwed..

Khorne, much?

FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

Ahem...

Anyway, i collect the shoes/boots from every NPC I kill. The poor Markarth Housecarl can't move for them all, but at least he's ready to hit the town at a moments notice.

Yeah, this game has turned me into a clutter monkey! I collect a few of everything just in case I need it for a quest or something. Ha, I even found a use for brooms!
Spoiler
You need brooms to make magical staves at the atronach forge in the College of Winterhold.

The thing I do like collecting though is all the in-game books. Many of the titles can only be found in one or two locations so that makes them more unique than most stuff.

All ingredients I see, which includes breaking into people's houses and stealing Garlic, Frost Mirram and Elves Ear. It's all for getting my Alchemy to 100 "later" which never actually comes.
lol hahah i do the same thing =P

Behind the Guild Master's desk in the cistern.

It seems like I'm the only one that collects Soul Gem Fragments, just to put them into a floor tray next to my Arcane Enchanter in my Solitude house. Makes it look more realistic IMO, like Im really working there.

I collect guard shields, one for every hold. I also have a huge stash of gems, and I also collect Dwarven Centurion Cores, their red glow and dwarven design goes really well with my Markarth house.

Like:

Linen wraps
Embalming tools
Pots (that have no value)
Pans

Etc...

i used to, but, beth ruined it for me in skyrim.

i always enjoy maneuvering objects in-game to create burial sites, memorials, and, obviously, house decorations, but, the system is busted.

this better get fixed, lol.

I love to collect Centurion Dynamo Cores, they glow with a red aura, every time i find them i put them all around my house. I also like collecting Statues of dibella, though i have only found 3 so far, they look nice just above a fire place or on a shelf in each of my houses. I just wish the placement wasn't so freaking hard to do.

This, they look great pretty much anywhere. I love those.

I collect a lot of stuff to be honest. Now that I know how to effectively decorate homes, I've spent a bit of time on that and the results are great.

I collect unique weapons, guard shields from every hold (you have to do it before the civil war quests), rare clothes - I even took the wedding dress, ring, and flower headdress from a particular Dark Brotherhood quest - lol), books, skulls.

I also use quills, ink and paper to decorate my den (Housecarl room - let's just sayhe housecarl had an unfortunate accident) where I'm writing "The Dragonborn Memoirs". The den also has unique items has decorations (Eye of the Falmer, map of dragon sites, etc.)

It's fun after you've done a couple of "intense" quests.
