Is anyone else not really a fan of the Daedric equipment?

is ebony over the top? Thought it looked pretty practical just black.

I admittedly have simple tastes so yeah, ebony and it's power ranger-ish helmet are among the armors I never use. Kinda wish they made a few more steel variants involving plate and chainmail but I got those via mods.

But that's boring and bad design.
Not necessarily. It makes more sense that better materials should be stronger and if you just automatically got the best armor than why even change it. Seems more interesting to get better quality as you advance.

It is way over the top. Ebony, Dwarven, Imperial, and Iron are thyeonly heavy armors I think look good. I never use heavy armor though, I always wear Theives Guild armor. I've never liked the really fantasy looking armors.

Glass weapons are alright. I think it's mostly the colors, not the designs - I have a brass and blue retex of glass that looks much better.

I dunno, I've really warmed to my glass battleaxe - it's tempting to blow some perks on the other side of the smithing tree, but that characters gonna be a vamp lord, so the daedric look fits.

I enjoy the daedra weapons (with the exception of the arrows) but not the armors. Specifically it is the daedra sword that I like to keep on me. The armors are too extreme. Instead I just use upgraded guard armor.

Ebony's not -bad-, my dislike for it is pretty solely on just not liking the 'grim' aesthetic, it doesn't look incongruous to Skyrim the way that Daedric armor does. It's about as ornate as Dwarven, I'd say.
Always looked like it was trying to be a bit fancy than grim. Not sure how it looks grim besides being black. It's like saying a black car looks grim.

I like the Daedric, except for the helmet.

That beak thing on it bugs me.

Dark colors + gothic fanciness = grim. Especially with the automatic connotations of black plate armor in society.

Most mid to high level high fantasy armour looks silly like that. Some people like that look, I can't take it seriously. I mean, in every ancient culture, there is a science to their weaponry and an exact reason why they shaped the sword or armour like they did, so there is a certain logic to the design, but Daedric, that just looks plain impractical. At least its not as bad as WOW armours

Someone on the Nexus requested a WoW armor import.

I groaned and moved away from the topic lest I found myself unable to breath for laughing.

I know it isn't this way in TES games, but I am more a fan of games where armor choice is both an aesthetic, and tactical choice beyond simply what has higher armor rating. In the Souls games for example, you have to take into account how much the combined set of armor weighs, as that affects how quickly you move and how efficiently you can dodge, as well as armor having individual crush/pierce/slash resistances, and differing elemental resistances and vulnerabilities that can alter your choice of what to wear.

must admit, i think glass could have been done better. think the swords should have been slender like the ebony swords are. dont really like the armor. but the elven looks amazing when compared to oblivions. also no ill never use daedric armor because of how it looks, maybe the daedric bow but thats it.

In the real world, Daedric and Iron armor would do pretty much the same thing. The only real difference is the unearthly hardness of Daedric, but that doesn't help the jarring impact when the character's own weight can't withstand the force of the weapon. (Indeed, it might be better against penetration, but most of damage comes from the concussive force.)

its okay. I like the bow. The gear is cool for some roleplaying ideas. Not really my style tho. I always rolled with leather cuirass and leather greaves in oblivion. In Skyrim i use ebony mail

I've noticed that the armour and weapons look worse than they did in Oblivion, with a few exceptions.

My favourite returning armour styles: Elven and Imperial
Elven armour in Skyrim looks better than it did in Oblivion. Could have been intentional on Bethesda's part, Elven armour in Skyrim is a modern Altmeri design, not ancient Ayleid.

Imperial Armour looks much better in Skyrim. It's Roman style again instead of Oblivion's plate armour with a Greek helmet.

Glass armor looks bad imo but the weapons look good except for the glass war axes. I can't stand the Ebony sword or the dagger but the armor looks fine, much better than oblivions.

The Daedric gear does not suit my taste, but I like the otherworldy look for what it is supposed to be in the game. I like the look of hide, iron, and steel plate, but it’s important that the world has more variety than that.

I guess I just think of grim in a different way. Also what about blades armor? It is a bit rusty but it still looks kind of nice. Not sure if you one for a more eastern looking armor however.

The gauntlets look cool in first person, but that's about all I like about it.

If you mean something in terms of varying abilities I also like that. Thought you meant more of just aesthetic difference which doesn't interest me much.

I think Blades Armor looks really silly, like it's not sure if it wants to be lamellar or plate and decided to be bad at both.

I don't have anything inherently against Eastern armor, being half-Korean myself, and a huge fan of Avatar: the Last Airbender. But I do feel like it doesn't quite 'fit' in the rest of the world of Skyrim, and honestly, I don't think I'd like that armor even in a psuedo-Oriental game like Jade Empire. It just... looks wrong.

It depends on my character. If I want to play an evil, menacing warrior who seeks to wreak havoc upon the world, absolutely. I could stand a less spiky version though, especially for my females.

Thought it was suppose to be roman segmented fused with the blades easterner theme, so it fits with the imperials which is where it comes from. If you look at the history of the blades the armor makes sense.

Oh, I know what they were going for aesthetically. But I know just enough about armor to know that combining lamellar and plate doesn't make sense, so it just makes me facepalm.
