Is anyone else not really a fan of the Daedric equipment?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:41 pm

I don't mean the Daedric Prince equipment - Spellbreaker, Dawnbreaker, and a few others are just plain beautiful. I mean the Daedric Armor.

They look like toys to me. Really over-the-top gruesome, silly, Todd MacFarlane toys. RAR SPIKEY MCSPIKERSON. I laugh at characters wearing them. In general, when Skyrim goes for ostentatious, I'm not impressed - the Glass Armor looks really bad to me too, and the Elven armor is a bit off-color. Dwarven stuff is the only eyecatchy armor I'm fond of. (And even then, keep the helmets away from me.)

Anyone else?

honestly, i'll never use them, maybe on a Death Knight character, but untill then, no. Simply for the reason that THEIR THE STRONGEST!! I wish each type of armor had a strongest and weakest (to a point) but with smithing i suppose you can make normal steel awesome

Daedric armor in my mind will suit the upcoming Vampire Lords well...or emperor robes..depends.

I despise it. I think it makes for a fine armor to put on display and I like how it is a lot rarer than it was in Oblivion. I hated walking around Anvil and half the town was wearing Daedric.

I like them, but then again if you don't like it don't use it. Bethesda added in Smithing for a reason. If you like your Iron Armor, upgrade it and take the defensive perks in Heavy Armor. I for one, like it. It suits my darker personality great.

Seriously? I didn't play Oblivion, were random NPCs really just running around looking like Spawn refugees? XD

Not trying to get it removed, but I see a recurring echo of "I love the Daedric Armor/Weapons," so I'm wondering who feels differently.

Well oblivion did have strange level scaling, like a bandit running up to you in glass armor asking for 100 gold.

What I like about it is the glowy red eyes. Other than that, whatever. Steel Plate and Dwarven are my favourite looking armours, and yes I agree glass armour looks utterly horrific. Shame, cause I like the look of the weapons...

I like it. It really isn't suppose to look very real, I mean it is pretty much demonic armor, the extreme spikes and evil look come with the territory sometimes.

I like it. Yes, its over the top and wouldn't be practical in real life, but this is a fantasy videogame so it doesn't bother me at all.

I think it looks pretty neat. I especially love how it actually does look like an "upgraded ebony". It's also nice to see that it's possible for other, weaker armors to be just as good via smithing, so it's not absolutely necessary to wear.

Honestly I really like the exaggerated style of Daedric armor. And I like the glass a lot too. It has a beautiful metal flake type effect IMO.

Glass weapons are alright. I think it's mostly the colors, not the designs - I have a brass and blue retex of glass that looks much better.

Yup, I'm right there with ya. I haven't really used any vanilla armors beyond iron and steel for months now because the high tier stuff is just so over the top. Cool for people who want to run around as a "GRR EVIL OVERLORD!!!" or a "MIGHTY MORPHIN POWA RANGER!" but for us who want to use armor with a less ostentatious design there are very few options (aside from mods). Hell, they even have an option for people who want to run around as Batman. The Thieves Guild armor looks great though.

everything in oblivion was extremely level scaled. Their would be minotaurs, trolls and orges everywhere when you got high enough.

That makes no sense.

Steel, or Plate should never be more powerful than Ebony, or Daedric.

Never.

Sort of. Due to the ridiculous way of handling level scaling every 5th bandit would walk around in full Daedric after you reached a certain level.

Yeah, it feels too out of place for me as well. I perfer the leather and steel armors. They fit a bit better in the setting of skyrim.

But that's boring and bad design.

I'm not a fan of any fancy equipment. It looks ridiculous and you stick out like a sore thumb. So much for immersion.

I like the way Daedric armor looks. It's supposed to look like it's from another world. It also reminds me of the armor Sauron wore in lotr, I love how that looked.

Ebony's not -bad-, my dislike for it is pretty solely on just not liking the 'grim' aesthetic, it doesn't look incongruous to Skyrim the way that Daedric armor does. It's about as ornate as Dwarven, I'd say. But it's not a very practical armor design, no. I'm not exactly a "armor must be realistic' person, but I seriously think Daedric Armor and Weapons just look wacky. I laugh at characters wearing them.
