Anyone Ever See A Falmer Out In The World?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:06 pm

Just curious.

Only place I've met Falmer are underground.

However, they obviously get out into the world at times, e.g., dead merchants, remark by Whiterun guard.

Anyone ever come across one outside of their underground lairs?

No, and i don't think are any such places. However you can encounter Chauruses in the swamps north of Morthal.

And a Whiterun guard can sometimes mention seeing an "evil looking creature" near the entrance of Shimmermist Cave, but that doesn't really happen.

No, but a chaurus reaper attacked me near the coastline once. It shocked the hell out of me. Hasn't happened again, across hundreds of hours and 2 characters.

Yes, had that experience myself ... I think near a wreck on the coast north of Morthal.

There's a spot with a dead merchant and Falmer arrow in the merchant wagon fairly close to a Falmer lair.

So, it seems they do get out for a "breath of fresh air" once in awhile. Also, the Whiterun guard comment.

They maybe did not like it. So they back in. Maybe the light is too bright.

Does the guard say evil looking creature? I'm asking, because the german translation has the guard say that he spotted 'a small, pale white creature' near a cave to the east and that he's never seen anything like it before. I always thought it was a very weird way to describe a Falmer. The Falmer are very tall, probably even taller than the Altmer, so I was kind of surprised when I encountered Falmer in that cave. I play a Breton female and they are so ridiculously tall, that she looks like a small child next to them. Poor guard, he probably needs glasses.

I've never encountered Falmer on the surface either, but I found a Falmer tent on the surface. It's located on a snowy mountain and near the entrance to one of their caves. There was no Falmer in there however and none to be found anywhere near it.

I don't rememeber the exact quote, it could have been something about a small pale creature too

I can't remember the exact wording in English, however I don't think it was "small, pale white creature". I think it might have been something like "strange looking creature" but, could be wrong.

Haha, it doesn't really matter, it was just one of those major wtf moment for me. I was curious when the guard told me about it and happily went looking for this 'small pale creature'. What I found however was a whole bunch of fully grown Falmer, all of them two heads taller than my little Breton and they weren't exactly happy to see (hear) me. XD

I have seen evidence of the Falmer above ground, but never the Falmer themselves. You can find a merchant wagon with two dead bodies and Falmer arrows around the site. Unfortunately I've never found anything connected to it. No location or event.

No I've not seen anything but as Mitheledh said, there is evidence that proves they do come above aground such as that dead merchant. Also some of their "banners" and "totems" can be seen placed outside some of their caves, meaning they must have come up to put them there.

Small is relative in my opinion as they are bent and are not raised as high as they really are. The guard think they are small, because he just caught a glimpse of the bowed falmer pose they have. They doesn't look that big when they are bowing down like they do

Sometimes they can be really small. Whether or not it's a bug or they're just baby falmer, I've killed a few of them in Nchuand-Zel. Took a screenshot too if your curious to see.

I found a cave full of the little buggers in rorikstead. But again that was inside a "cave". But after going through, I didn't see any sign of dwemer ruins.
Also in blackreach, the are a number of npcs that are labeled as slaves. So they have to get out at some point, maybe only at night? Dunno
Almost feel like Beth is setting us up with them, like they would hint at certian things in fallout, then have DLC associated with it

If it's the same over turned wagon I think it is, look across the river you will see a camp. Go visit the camp and follow your intuition, I think you will be surprised with where you end up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhnygLQ4Ar4

They must come out at some stage, because there are Falmer signs at the entry of the caves that they inhabit. Besides there are Nord folk lores that talks about Flamers coming out at night to kidnap people.

It's kind of cool that there is room for mystery such as this to exist.

Yep.

More evidence re: their external "activities".

There are always Chaurus in the swamps near Solitude.

Haha yeah, I've seen that too. I thought it may have been a bug with one of my mods.
