Anyone feel like the wasteland is more dangerous?

Most definitely. I'm terrified of running into Powder Gang ambushes, let alone deathclaws. I love it.

Yeah, it sux getting owned by the conqistadors or whatever those flying bastards are called

but i love how you cant just venture off thinking "oh im gonna go visit new vegas first chance i get!" Ohno you aint lol.

the leveling system for the wildlife is similar to dragonquest: go out into the wilderness and get pwnt by a deathclaw lol.

I am playing in hardcoe, but the casadores are deadly. I kept trying to go a certain way and victor tried to stop me and they got me in two swings. I have to really think about where I'm going and I love it. I'm also on normal.

If you die too much by randomly walking into trouble, try upping your perception.

My character is only level 5 but has 9 perception + eyebot perception perk + night vision perk + special clothing (more perception) = I see EVERYTHING.

I even see things before the game puts them into existence. They only exist as ticks until I spend 5 or so minutes walking up to them. . . hehe. . . .no more inadvertantly running into deathclaws. . .

I'm level 5 yet to see a deathclaw though. And i haven't died.. though the nightkin really did a number on me.

I can actually admit ive never seen a deathclaw in my fallout career, i bet it's because they're scared of me :toughninja:

Say what!?!

Did you ever play Fallout 3? If you did, how the heck did you get through that game and not run into a Deathclaw..?? Boggles the mind..

Boy, are you in for a shock when you run into one - just hope it's not 2 you run into either. Make sure you have plenty of stimpaks on hand - cause you're gonna need them..

Personally I dont think its that quick of a level up I am only at level 6 or 7 after 14 hours of playing and I just now got onto the strip.

Aside from that it is more dangerous. You can run into pockets of thugs as well as pockets of radscorpions.

Spoiler
There was one part in the very begining when I desided to head south from Good Springs and I ran into not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 radscorpions at the same time. Then I also ran into three fire geccos which ended up killing me 5 different times and I am playing this on normal.

Not to mention the fact that weapons are pretty hard to come by and your currency is always near broke while playing the game.

I am still learning as I go but so far I have to say theres alot of twists in the story and alot of different options you can take. Having real fun so far and the map is pretty big. I think bigger than FO3 cause its taken me for ever to go from the center of the map east towards the Colorado river.

The difficulty I've found is when that shield appears to show they have armor. I really need to read up on the function of armor.

The armor sheild is just telling you your gun cant do as much damage as it could. Pretty much any gun I currently have after 14 hours worth of playing cant penetrate armor. So I am slowly stocking up on 20ga shot gun slugs as well as 5.56 armor piercing rounds with the hope that it will help me in some sticky situations.

So far I have to say if you have the 20 ga slugs dont waste them on the
Spoiler
fire geccos
cause they just aint worth a damn. If you plan on going up against them make sure you got some serious fire power in the form of explosives and big guns as well as alot of ammo

Deathclaw-phobia + arrival in Sloan = The fear of God is in me now.

lol when I left the starter town I looked at my map, and it said Sloan neutral... I figure I should gain some xp before heading to Primm so off I go.

I seen a Sloan miner, and decide to talk to him... he says something along the lines of "Those deathclaws are not giving us as much trouble as usual..."
I went "oh crap wrong turn", and got out of that town faster then a bullet out of a varmit rifle.

Not here yet. Closest I got is that woman in Novac who I think was a pilot for the Enclave and the reference to the BoS. The only thing Ive sen related to the Enclave so far is my current companion ED-E. Which I see is taken off the license plate for the most part but the numbers were omitted. He has came in pretty damn helpful in a sticky situation.

YES! (much harder - which I love)

I credit the DAM implementation. I ran into a single Giant Rad Scorpion within ten minutes of starting the game on HARD. Emptied about 30 rounds of 9mm and 10mm into it, and it did nothing. I then got stinger once to the face and was crippled. A second stinger strike decapitated me. I love it. Makes it much more fun. That's strategy holmes.

Even on normal it is still hard itself. I pretty much wasted all my cowbow repeater rifle on the 4 radscorpions I ran into they took atleast 6 shots to the face each just to kill them. Was hard when you had 4 of them chasing you and constantly trying to sting you. All it takes is just one stinger hit and your health starts to slowly go down even on normal. I learned that the hard way as I started popping soft drinks and food trying to freeze the health drop which it really didnt since I guess you need the "Antivenom".

But god it is fun, I am going to get back in the game now gotta head back over to Gommorah to turn in my chips I forgot about them and walked out of there with their chips. It was a fun place and I have to say it was done good. Theres live performers and there is some nudity but its tastefully done. I have to give them two big thumbs up on that. But the whole "fade to black" is the same as in FO3. But hey cant have everything you want.

yea it's def harder without that game ruining scaling system and i'm loving it!

back to the morrowind days, run around like an unprepared idiot at level 1, guess what?

you's gonna die, and thats how rpg's are supposed to be

i hate how dumbed down and easy so many games are getting to try and appeal to the ignorant masses now days

and yea the giant scorpions are tough as nails! i think armor piercing rounds are going to be the ticket with them

Yes, I've died several times trying to get passed places that I probably should have avoided.

Currently I'm holed up in some building with no ammo - which is my typical scenario sadly. :celebration:
