caps are stupid. some people are running 3 monitor setups playing this game! thats more an advantage over a few extra fps

There can't be an FPS limitation.

afaik Fraps shows the FPS u have, not how many you could have. My graphics card's workload doesn't change while playing and I can SEE that I have different framerates. I am 99% sure there isn't such a restriction, which - on the other hand - would be pretty [censored]. I'd rather trust fraps than this hypothesis here.



Not impressive since this is not an AMD card. :brokencomputer: Try playing with a HD5870 and tell me if you really think I should get 220 FPS in the menu and 25-80 FPS ingame with the same settings :shocking:

This game isn't capped!

It's only capped at 30 when people are connecting to you (IE. you are a server)

The reason for this is relatively simple, do you want all 15 people connected to you to LAG? Or do you want them to have a smooth experience?

If the server runs at 30 FPS, its not maxing out its CPU, and can handle all data requests in a timely fashion, resulting in a smooth experience for the other 15 players

Logical.

If you don't want a 30 FPS cap, join someone else's server!

The server is capped at 30 fps.

You are the server if 1) you're playing single player, or 2) you're playing campaign mode and people are connecting to you.

If you're playing multiplayer (campaign or freeplay) and are connecting to another system that is hosting the game, there's no limit on the framerate.

I don't know why this is set up this way, it's just what everyone seems to be reporting.

as i said id come back with my FPS reports. i am going between 35 and 60 fps

T.Vann, are you a socialist? the whole point of capitalism is that you beat your competitor. the whole point of sports is to beat the other team.likewise in gaming if the problem is you do not have a good enough computer, find a job, and work hard (like i did) to have a good one to use to play the games. see how ridiculous this sounds? its about as ridiculous as you mentioning healthcare and other things that are WAY beyond off topic. apples to oranges. your previous post sir is an example of that comparison.

so in your mind everyone should just give up their built computers? what if your car is better than my car? should you give up your car because it'll hurt my feelings? you should pay more for gas because mine cant be as fuel efficient. basically you work harder so i dont have to! we should make PC gaming socalistic while we're at it then, we all just turn in our good computers and get back a bunch of clunkers running on celeron processors. or how about we're all winners and nobody loses in FPS gaming?

you have a friend who is incapable of playing the game cuz of his computer? maybe we should all just chip in and buy him one too? matter of fact my friend sitting next to me wants to play he is unable to cuz his laptop cant run it. he thinks its unfair and he agrees with you, so he is asking your help to buy him a better computer to be able to play brink!

Buddy - I have absolutely no opinion whatsoever about how many FPS you would get with an HD5870.

My point was that the game is not capped to 30 when playing on dedicated servers and it's common to post your specs as a reference to performance figures.

You seem to have missed the entire point and gone off on a tangent.
You are adding in things to get your point across:
At no point did i mention people should give away their computers.
At no point did i say others should finance others computers.
At no point did i mention people should follow this method of social behaviour and fair play anywhere else in life i just gave examples of current society that are made to be fun team based activities like children's sport.
At no point was this game made to be a capitalist game as it is made by a UK developer and is also based around fair team play and helping others not playing for yourself and getting as many kills and points as possible. (You want COD for that)

If you have a better computer (like i do) then thats great enjoy the game but if someone has different priorities or basically doesn't have the option of having a better computer because they were born adn raised in a poor society or country they should still be able to play a game based on skill not how much money you have. Games like this are little league and if you want real competition, as to where someones size and money and factors outside of the sport come to play then good go do that but dont bother the people just wanting to have skill based fun with your lack of skill being replaced by loads of power in your computer.



You know nothing about me and if you did you would know that this is a very hurtful and serious thing to say and above all incorrect. You should not make assumptions based on someones view of a small subject it is rather narrow minded. I have come from a hard upbringing and am still in a hard situation even though im in one of the most fortunate countries in the world, Australia, and this is why i understand that some things cannot be just attained from nothing many people have no option or have different priorities and i would personally like to fight them in a fair skill based fight that shows who is really the better fps gamer not the person who has worked harder or has been luckier in life that has absolutely nothing to do with the game and the value of a player.

So please spend your money on your computer and enjoy it for all its worth but understand that a true test of skill should not be based on external efforts (like MMO games where you can buy XP and items with real world money) because this is a team based fun skill based FPS made for people who like to work together and test their skill not teabag and kill streak and claim the champion [censored] award.

Notes about the author: I am a avid gamer (who is modestly quite good at brink) with a dedicated computer for gaming and am continuously upgrading and overclocking to make sure i get all i can get out of my computer and i do the same for my car yet i know i have different priorities to some and different circumstances to some and always prefers a real test of skill against someone who may beat me to a person with a awesome computer who will continuously lose.
