Are you a internet gamer?

I honestly don't think there is any RPG with quests that don't have a Questline and that's seriously not the point of my post.

Nyx, your points seem conflicting. You basically say that the point of games is to have fun by being engaged in a good story, etc. You then also say that the point of MMOs is to have fun by playing a game with friends. So then, what does it matter how a player is having fun if the point of games is to have fun?

I tended to play it more as a single player game

I do the same thing. To me World of Warcraft is a massive single-player game with thousands of unpredictable NPCs who are controlled by other players. ;)

I do sometimes, but it's mainly online Scrabble, which I also play IRL. Not sure if that counts me as an internet gamer to be honest.

There's no point in arguing with you since you've obviously have never played WoW or have never taken the time to read the dialogue during quests.

the only Online game I've played was WoW & overall it just wasn't a good fit for me (dial-up & my financial situation changed so I couldn't afford it anymore) though that was many moons ago.

In short I play SP games now

Not any more. I don't need that addiction. Back in the days of Diablo and Diablo 2 and when BattleNet was at its prime, it was fun and addicting.

i need to destroy the goblin robot airship horde but in order to do this you must first fetch me 30 cogs from the clock-raptors that roam the Darkened Swamps so that i can repair this large weapon whose name is a reference to some obscure adventure game from the early '90s BUT TAKE CARE HERO for not every clock-raptor drops one so you'll be at this for at least forty minutes. HAVE FUN ADVENTURER.

i play Battlefield and that's about it.

I hear you  I don't even read the quest text in WoW, only the summary telling me how many boars I have to kill.

Now quite everyday, but I'd say I'm a frequent online player.

Mostly fps-s online, COD, L4d, killzone, etc. Huge fan of demon's souls, IMO one of the best online gaming experiences ever. Never really touched the mmorpg genre.

But at certain point online gaming can really get on my nerves for reasons most of us have probably experienced.

There's really no substitute for a great single player game that is made to be only single player. So many games to do " a little bit of everything " and usually fail at doing any one thing really well.

In fairness, this is not unique to online games. We experience more than our share of this in single-player games too. Dremora are threatening Tamriel with total destruction but we need to help the counts and countesses before they'll send troops. Dagoth Ur is spreading blight across the length and breadth of Vvardenfell but we have to get a puzzle box for Hasphat Antabolis. Darkspawn are over-running Ferelden but we need to pause and fix a problem in the Circle Tower first.

The list goes on.

My favored genre is RPGs but i will play anything that someone says play this and hands me the controller. I love all games but just do not see the appeal of playing online, maybe because i am a hermit and live in a tree.

Personally i don't, maybe because i am a old school and believe in man against the game.

What's your capacity for small children?

I play online games every day, usually Forza or TF2.

I do not understand this post. :ahhh: What are you trying to say? Single-player games are old school? They are not (I'm not saying that multi-player games are). And do you think multi-player games don't have any non-playing characters? Most of them do.

I can't remember when the last time I actually played a game online that wasn't Mortal Kombat and even then I barely play that game anymore. I used to play online all the time with friends, especially Halo 3 which I played almost 24/7. But these days I don't find myself buying multilayer games (going to be buying Arkham City instead of BF3) anymore. And I only play Halo: Reach when a friend comes over and wants to play, though even then we both only play for like 2 matches then get bored.

I'm playing video games less and less, I suppose music has become a much better/funner hobby for me now that I'm semi-decent and can finally play songs I know. Though it's just punk so it's not saying much

Same here. I didn't really have any friends... and still kind of don't just because no one in my neighborhood or at my school(s) that I knew played any decent video games. However, online games aren't limited to your neighborhood. You play with people all over the world on online games.

While I generally like the challenge of online versus, I tend to get bored of FPS rather quickly. Now co-op is a different story. I love co-op but sadly there hasn't been a good co-op game besides Borderlands and no one on my friends list plays that anymore.

I only like multiplayer over a LAN. It's more fun to bluff, I mean engage in psychological warfare, when your target is sitting right there in front of you. Also when I get hungry and want to take a break I can just say "Hey guys, who wants to take a break and grab some grub" and I know I won't be missing any important gameplay while I'm away.

It's rare I play games online. This year I've played the Portal 2 co-op levels online and ~3 hours of Left 4 Dead 2, and that's it.
