Are you wearing something for its story value?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:37 pm

So the question is simple: Do you wear or carry something you got from someone either by quest or was given in your characters backstory? If so why do you wear or carry it?

My current character Thorom wear an Amulet of Arkay because it was a gift from a Priest of Arkay he helped.

My clepto - kitty is holding onto the claws you get throughout the game. I'll have to go back and steal one that I can think of. Once I get a house I will probaly arrange them in the house. She's kind of a treasure hunter.....so shiny things are in her inventory until like I said I get a house.

Vriddi always wears her wedding ring. What sort of (use your imagination) wouldn't. I do use a mod so she can wear another ring as well. She also wears the Token of Kyne although she could enchant something more useful herself.

J'rahzir has a tendecy to carry much moon sugar and skooma. Can't say J'rahzir holds onto such treats or such sweets for far too long, however.

Oh heck yeah definitely - I always prefer items that have story / sentimental value even if they are statistically outclassed. For example, my Nord warrior rocks the Ancient Nord Armor even though he's level 54 now and could easily get a full set of Ebony, simply because for him it is a sign of his rise to the role of Harbringer. My mage character wears the Diadem of the Savant because he was able to pass the test of Shalidor's Maze, and wears the Gauldur amulet because of its lore significance (even if it is rather underwhelming statistically, and I could easily be wearing a -28% cast cost Destruction / Restoration necklace instead).

In Morrowind my guy always wore a ring, but i can't remember what the significance was. It wasn't even an enchanted ring either.

I've not yet found a similar trinket Skyrim, but it would be cool to find something like that.

My main character (mage) wears the Mage's Circlet because of what happens in the College quest line. She usually wears the Gauldur Amulet because that item was the toughest for her to come by. She took on that quest at a relatively low level.

Kinda. My mage is wearing imperial legion boots and bracer's because she is in the legion. She used to wear imperial light armour too, but is now using a master robe instead. I could easily enchant glass stuff instead, but it wouldn't feel right :(

This one always has Nightshade, plenty for J'rahzir also.. If J'razhir would share sweet, sweet Moonsugar with Nyan?

My character has an ordinary iron dagger in his inventory that was given to him as a gift from his father before he dissappeared. It's all he has to remember him by.

I'm not really a hardcoe roleplayer of this game, I just made a little backstory to one of my characters.

My current character Primrose always carries a flute. She is teaching herself to play. Not that the game will let me do that of course, just pure RP.

J'rahzir may 'misplace' some Moonsugar and it may be refound in the pockets of fellow Khajiit... Who is to say, hrm? Certainly not J'rahzir.

I like wearing the jagged crown with the Wolf armor with my fighter that completed those quests. Sometimes when I go out to fight dragons, I don my dragonplate, and use Dragon Bane. When I'm fighting drugar, I like to put on my ancient hero armor, with the fire resistant ancient nordic helm you can find.

My Nord keeps the wedding ring on him. I nearly disenchanted it but stupidly didn't as I felt kinda guilty (even though I know its just a game, lol).

I usually always try to dress a character to suit its race. Example being is my Nord wears Dragon plate over the slightly better Daedric as I feel Dragon Plate looks Nordic (based on the Nordic trollbone style armor from the old Morrowind days). In Oblivion my Nord wore Crusader Armour and in Morrowind it was Nordic mail.

My latest which is a Redguard wears full Dwemer for a similar reason as according to TES lore

"Many Redguard in Hammerfell have shown a particular interest in the Dwemer ruins there for unknown reasons. Theories persist that Yokuda, the original homeland of the Redguards, was an ancestral Dwemer city."

"Stros M'kai and some parts of mainland Hammerfell hold many Dwemer ruins, and some young Redguards seeking to enter military service must brave the dangers of these ruins."

One of my earliest mages has a pair of boots given to them by a court wizard as a gift, they are actually a very unique gift. I have only seen a few pair of them in game.

i always hold on the sweetroll i stole from the bannered mare at the start of the game. Now, i finished all the faction quests and majority of the quests in skyrim, without getting caught on lollygaggin/murder etc etc, and i still have my sweet roll. No backstory, its just wat i accomplished at the start of the game. Time to eat it.

Yes, but of course. J'rahzir knows the Jo'Nyan will find many good things. Perhaps he will remember the Moonsugar that is found and was cast away by J'rahzir as well, yes?

Tyrae wears her flawless Ancient Shrouded Armour because it wasn't given by Astrid. Concerned about the direction the DB is headed Tyrae is anything but loyal to the gals and guys of the Brotherhood, especially Astrid. The DB has forgotten its obligations to Lord Sithis. She may well use her armour to turn on the Brotherhood and obliterate the blasphemers.

My nord warrior, Berengar, refuses to wear any armor other than hide. He doesn't wear a helmet though, because it reduces his visual field.

It's fully improved and enchanted, still it's very challenging on master difficulty.

Savos Aren's Necklace was always in my inventory up to a couple of minutes ago, about 35+ levels and more than 75 hours of playing. It was a shame to see him go so quickly, so I saved his necklace.
The Staff of Magnus is in my inventory also, just due to respect of the quest-line's awesomeness.
I also have Eduj and Okin on the weapon rack in Breezhome, the only house I've purchased and probably the only I ever will, out of respect to the quest and character these weapons regard.
The Mace of Molag Bal is also an old time weapon of mine, getting it at about level 25 and keeping usage of it up until now, level 52 with the option of leveling up. An amazing weapon and a great quest.
