Armor... or lack thereof...

Post » Thu Jul 12, 2012 11:17 am

Shouldn't every race have it's own set of unique armor? Just like the Altmer and Orsimer do? Playing as a Dark Elf and I was thinking that some Dunmer armor would be incredible. Better yet, Each house of Morrowind should have its own armor!

Imperials have their own armor. Not saying it's good though.

The Dunmer should have brought Netch armour over although I'm not sure if any Netch survived Red Year.

Let me see:

The Nords have the steel, iron, advanced and dragonbone armors in their style.
The Imperials have one heavy and one and a half light armor style.
Orcs and Altmer is already mentioned.
Dunmer have Ebony, at least Ebony follow Dunmer style according to the Art Book description.
Glass is either Dunmer or Altmer.

The races without armor are Redguards, Breton(unless you count the Forsworn armor), Khajiit, Bosmer, and Argonian. I wouldn't mond adding some of their armor to the game.

What about Khajiit, Argonian? Glass is definitley Altmer since their guards where it if you see them at high enough levels.

not enough armor in the game --- I like to see my char in many different sets.. It gets old after a while to see the same old armor all the time

Well technically that is Legion armor; every race in Tamriel should be represented in the Legion. I always thought elf armor kind of covered the whole of mer, but I think some variants of it would be nice for Bosmer and Dunmer, especially since the default has a very Altmer feel to it (and is worn by every Thalmor to boot). If unarmored were still a skill, then the Redguard would technically have their own armor set, although seeing as how they are warriors, it makes sense that they should have some heavy armor.

Basically, I agree with the OP, especially since Orcish armor fits orcs so well. It would be nice to have armor tailored to each race.

Well, they are mentioned in the section where I list the races without armorstyles so... not sure what you are going for here.

As for who made glass: Glass is a metal from Vvardenfell as far as I know so it makes more sense that the Dunmer perfected the style. That Altmer adapted the usage of the armor is likely, seeing as it is much stronger than Elven.

khajiit should mostly light armor since their battle with claws and hidden behind trees to attack (just like Real world big cats), etc...

Actually, most of the armor sort of is stuff learned from specific races. Glass armor is of altmer origin. Same with elven. Orcish is, obviously, of orc origin. Human originated armor types seem to come more from the Imperial side of things and the fur armors are just made by any race. Argonians had a bonus in the unarmored skill in Morrowind, which seems to indicate that their native armor isn't armor for most types of combat. Khajiit don't really have a set type of armor they like to use in their homeland.

The fact that Khajiit have so many breeds probably implies that the Suthay-raht will be the ones who wear stronger light armor while the Suthay will wear much lighter armor. The Cathay and Cathay-Raht will wear either medium or heavy armor. The breeds gifted with more skill in magic will probably just wear their shawls or whatever they call those really brightly colored things they wear and robes or some sort of clothing that covers tons of skin/fur(Khajiit don't like to show their torso fur at all). The Sence and Sence-Raht will... just look up a picture of that battlecat from He-Man. The human like Khajiit are most likely the archers.

Dunmer armor is made from the parts of Morrowind's native insects and sea creatures. That armor was only in Morrowind. They have quite a good amount of types of armor. I could see Bosmer doing a lot of combat in leather armor types. Bretons, I'm assuming, wear armor similar to the kind of the Imperial culture. Redguards most likely wear any type of armor, but might favor light armor more due to their liking of using faster battle tactics.

Should look pretty badass :P
Armor that blends well with the sandy environment for the Khajitts and Scarly black/green armor for the Argonians.

Well my opinion there are not many there needs to be more armor and weapons.
Like Light, med and heavy armor for all types and makes some chainmail armor types too.
Weapons there need to be way more types, like you can make a iron sword with a big fat flawless dimond at the end of the hilt.

Personally I think it's the robes are lacking. I want robes like the Dragon Priest, not half naked robes. But what I mean is robes with a little bit of decorative metal on the sleeves or on the shoulders. They can still be counted as cloth, just want more robes with armor like plating on them.

Robes do need more variety. Heck, they should have ones that have some armor on them. Clothing in general is lacking. Why is there only one type of pair of pants in the game?
