how old where yall when ya became a mod

Twenty I believe

Are any of you interested/participating in game development of any form?

What amount was the most gold you had at once in morrowind?

Brunettes or blondes (possibly soul-less gingers even :whistling: )?

How big and how full is your HDD?

Bubble sort or quick sort?

And last but not least; Facebook, good or bad?

1. Interested? Yes. But there aren't any such opportunities where I live and moving isn't an option at the moment.

2. I have no clue, but it was a lot because I had a merchant added with 60k available.

3. No preference.

4. 60 gb I think, and at the moment I believe I have 20gb free - I should really go through and uninstall some old games.

5. ?

6. I don't mind it, but I don't spend much time on it.

Whats your favorite cheese?
Beer, liquor, or wine?
What kind?

1. Probably mozzarella or ricotta. I know these are sort of low brow cheeses but they're a wonderful addition to a lot of meals. In the last thread when I answered the "if you could only eat one cheese what would it be" I chose scamorza, which is another fantastic cheese but not only I can get often.

2. I don't drink alcoholic beverages.

3. Sparkling lemonade.

Have any of you been invited to any events such as Quake con as part of your mod privileges. Have you met any devs or even the god himself?

Who is the newest mod and who has been a mod the longest?

Do you not agree redheads are superior?

1. If we asked to go I'm sure they'd love to have us, but I don't believe any of the mods are close to QuakeCon. There was a standing invintation for E3 tickets once but I don't believe any of us were able to go. I've never met any of the devs in person. Leydenne is the only mod who has met me.

2. The newest mods are Falchya, Greenwarden, and Nu_clear_day. I am the longest serving mod, my nine year anniversary is at the end of August.

3. At what?

How many languages can you speak ?

English. I took several years of Modern Standard Arabic in college but I was never fluent.

Harry Potter or Twilight

Favourite animal

1. I've never read Harry Potter, I'm not a big fan of contemporary fantasy. I have read the first two books of the Twilight series, several summers ago my wife was having serious migraine problems and I'd read young advlt novels to her. After exhausting our collection of Diana Wynne Jones someone suggested this new vampire series. The first one didn't do much for me, the second I really didn't like.

2. gharials

Whats the worst kind of trouble you got into when you weren't a moderator on these forums?

Off the top of your heads, what are the odds that a banned member will rejoin the forums? How do you guys combat against this?

Which Bethesda game are you the most knowledgeable in?

1. This is a fun story. So back when I was a fairly new member there was little active forum moderation - in fact Pete may have been the sole admin at the time, and the only moderator was "Bethesda," an account I'm not sure was ever used. Anyway, during this time its also important to note that a thread OP could delete the entire thread by removing their OP.

Someone created a thread with an exceptionally long subject line and it trashed the forum formatting. However the OP refused to delete it because there was an interesting conversation about Tolkien in it, so this thread remained and it was generally on the front page. Since going to the moderators to get the thread title truncated wasn't really an option I decided to repost the entire thread with a shorter subject line. I didn't know if exceptionally long posts were acceptable, or if they'd corrupt the forum database, so I reposted everything individually.

Rather than being applauded for fixing the problem, and letting the old OP delete the original thread, the conversation revolved entirely around me spamming to get my post count up. My thread was locked, although I wasn't contacted and there were no reprocussions.

2. No clue, probably on the low end actually. There are many ways we have for tracking rejoined members, some technical and some not.

3. Probably Morrowind or Fallout 3.

EDIT: Can mods see through the [censored] things?

No, the tag is a full replacement, there is no way to check and see what the profanity originally was.

Are mods subject to the 60 second post limit?

Nope.

If two mods have a child together, is the child born human, or as some sort of freakish moderator-human hybrid with innate banhammering abilities and a spidey sense for detecting trolls?

On a totally unrelated note, are any of the mods in a relationship and/or willing to participate in an experiment for science? :spotted owl:

I don't believe there are any mods in a relationship together, however when I first joined Facebook I almost ended up married to Freddo.

Are you angry because there are no spears in Skyrim?

I want answers from ALL of you!!!

Please...

The lack of spears and crossbows doesn't faze . . . fase? Arg, my in-laws' computer doesn't have a spell-check integrated into the internet browser - this isn't good for me. Anyway, I don't care either way, and it's worth noting that I used both quite a bit in Morrowind. In fact a crossbow weilding mage is downright awesome in my book, but I'm OK not having that option in the game.

Most useful hand tool you own?

Longest continuous game session without sleep?

What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow (careful...)

Harry Potter or Twilight

Favourite animal

Sookie Stackhouse

The original of my avatar is insisting that I answer, "Cats". The other three non-avatars agree. So my answer is "Cats".

My day job now is cataloging books, av material, and electronic books for a community college library system. So basically I work on a computer all day, then I come home and, after feeding the cats, I play on a computer for at least an hour or two at night.

Can a mod see through the [censored] tags? No. I believe though there is one of the old replacements still around. If "Please continue my good sir" shows up, we know what you typed, but that's because we remember what the censor replaced.

Spears in Skyrim; no, I don't think it bothers me that much. I only ever collected them in Morrowind and Bloodmoon. I'm far more interested in how they are handling the bows.

Edam, and havarti for eating and sandwiches, fontina if I'm making cheese soup, Amish pepper cheese for a change of pace.

Beer; Lionhead mostly.

Pc. I just upgraded for Skyrim and anything else coming out in the next several years....

Not fond of either Prince or MJ, actually. If I had to choose one, I guess I'd pick MJ, just because of Vincent Price.

My other favorite studio used to be Bioware. Not now though. Between ME2 and DA2, I'll wait for reviews before deciding whether to get a game or not.

Elder Scrolls; while I do like Dragon Age: Origins quite a bit, there were some really aggravating moments for anyone who is used to Bethesda's open world "If you can see a place you can probably get there" games.

This. I really like Dragon Age: Origins, but I'm spoiled by Beth. Nothing else feels as immersive , for the simple fact I really can go in just about every building.

(How do you spell immersive? Is it even a word? I've been changing the spelling to see if my spell checker will pick it up, but no luck)

Are any of you interested/participating in game development of any form?

Back in college, I minored in game design - but nothing's really ever come of it. Life has a way of making other plans, but you never know...
Brunettes or blondes (possibly soul-less gingers even :whistling: )?

Red-heads. But my wife is brunette. So I mean brunettes, obviously. ;)
And last but not least; Facebook, good or bad?

I've moved around a lot in the past decade - most of my older friends don't live anywhere near me. Facebook is actually our primary means of keeping in touch on a regular basis. So good.
Harry Potter or Twilight

Harry Potter. But I've read all of the Twilight books (my wife kind of made, and I didn't have anything else to read for awhile.) So that doesn't bug me as much as it does other people (once you realize that you're not in the target audience, it's easier to understand why it's not appealing - there's an obvious market for supernatural romance novels; and I can't really hold it against Stephenie Meyer if she's thus far the best example of that niche...)
Which Bethesda game are you the most knowledgeable in?

Fallout.
Where do you work? Is your day job interesting?

Actually, today was my last day at my job. I used to do support and backroom logistics at a grocery store here on the island. But we've decided that it's best for me to stay at home with my infant son. Hopefully this might eventually give me some time to work towards working from home, as well - which has always been the long-term goal (my wife's in the military, so what with moving every four years, it's kind of difficult to settle on a real long-term career otherwise.)
Do you use Console or PC?

Both
Micheal Jackson or Prince?

Prince
Favourite game studio other than Bethesda?

Bioware. I actually tend to find their games more "immersive" than Bethesda's, personally. I prefer a bit more of a cinematic approach to my single-player videogame RPGs. I used to do a lot of IRC role-playing way back in the day - so I've sort of gotten the whole "open" thing out of my system by this point.
Favourite game franchise?

X-Com. (Don't even get me started on this new remake... :shakehead: )

I'm not sure about the best recipe I've made. There have been a lot of good ones and bad ones. I do a mean shrimp scampi though.

I don't deprive myself of sleep these days so 10 hours or so I guess. Which is far too much time in one day but I did it 10 hours a day for days and days, weeks and weeks.

I'm not sure why but if someone wants to know I answer if I can and it's not too personal. And it gives me something to do when I ave a few minutes between checking on the reports besides read until I'm cross eyed.

What (if any) pets do you mods have or have once had?

What gaming platforms do you own? Which ones do you play games on the most?

I have one dog, a min pin named Fergie. She is a jewel but is getting a bit old now and I'm afraid she might not last too many more years.

Can you ban yourself?

Coke or Pepsi or it doesn't matter or no soda?

If I gave you $100 (USD) would you want it in:1 $100 bill, 2 $50 bills, 5 $20 dollar bills, or 100 $1 dollar bills?

Gasoline powered car or Diesel powered car?

Which one do you prefer Gas grill or Charcoal grill?

Moderators don't have warning bars, so no.

Coke

$100 bill.

Gas, Diesel is way too high now. I would really like to have an electric car or a fuel cell car.

Charcoal or wood.

Do you use Console or PC?
Micheal Jackson or Prince?
Favourite game studio other than Bethesda?
Favourite game franchise?
Old forum layout or new?

Both, usually PC though. My hubby usually uses the Xbox.

Prince

Bioware

Elderscrolls

Both have drawbacks and advantages.

I met Attrebus but that is it. I'd love it if we could ever meet up. A few have met some of the "company folks" and some have toured the studios.

I know a few folks who met hear and got married (two I can think of right off), some that dated. But I don't know any of them on a personal level. Just as friends on the forum.

Youth Soccer Referee.

Maybe. I probably wouldn't be on nearly as much in the very least.

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I was wondering how you became mods. Is there a specific way, or is it just people who are active and helpful. I'm not asking because I want to be a mod or anything. I'm just curios.

It all starts with a white van. After that, to be honest, I've blocked out the memory.

When we need moderators we all discuss it, come up with some consensus candidates (basically unanimous candidates) and then ask them. Usually we notice people who are active and helpful.

If you could change the [censored] tags with more word specific phrases i.e. s*** becoming [s'wit] instead of just [censored], what replacment words/phrases would you use?

Well, we used to have cool ones, but for some reason they were taken away. I wasn't a mod then, so I don't know the whole story.

For example:
Spotted Owl was for a three letter word that also stands for a triangle (with three known measurements) which cannot be proven to be similar to another.
Noble Seamstress was for a female of a certain type of mammal often kept as a pet.

We still have some specific ones though:
really devoted fan
I am not funny

One more thing I just need to know:

Who killed Kennedy?

Do any of you play CoD?

1. Ummm, Lee Harvey Oswalt or Sirhan Sirhan, take your pick.
2. I played a bit of them in college, but not the most recent pair.

What (if any) pets do you mods have or have once had?

What gaming platforms do you own? Which ones do you play games on the most?

Never had any pets. My sister current have a pug though, and used to have a cat about a decade ago.

I mainly play on the PC, but I've also been gaming on the Nintendo DS lite quite a bit this summer. Only this month I finished Dragon Quest 4, 5 and 9 for the DS :P I also have a PS2 and GameCube by the TV.
Do any of you play CoD?

No, I never played any of the CoD games, not even for a second. Never played any of the Battlefield games either. I just don't see the appeal with army shooters, when I play a FPS I want something more unique like No One Lives Forever, FEAR, Bioshock or Singularity.

I have played the first http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Flashpoint:_Cold_War_Crisis and did enjoy it quite a bit though, but that's not just a shooter. More of a war simulator, with way more realism than a FPS.
