Avoiding the forum.

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:29 am

I hate spoilers, so I'll be avoiding the forum for the most part. Would prefer to find out the story myself while playing.

Maybe there should be a warning: any one caught spoiling the game for others will have a lovely talk with a room full of deathclaws.

I just avoid the trailer threads now, but still enjoy the GECKulation and anticipation-threads as much as anyone else that posts here. :) I don't want to know anything more about the game, nada, nill, ziltch, nothing - I already know too much, I'm pre-ordered x 3 and am counting-off the time. I feel a little ridiculous being this excited for a video game, but am glad at least that I am not alone in the wasteland and can GECKulate amongst other nuka-addicts while the clock spins down. B)

Actually I'm getting lots done, its like packing for a big trip in trying to get everything done and wrapped-up so that I can maximize my game time afterwards. Crazy.

Ohhh yes.

There will be trolls and probably raids where people who got early copies will post spoilers. I know it happened with Fallout 3, so I am not going to risk it.

I thought this poll would be one sided, (considering everybody that votes is on the forums) but I'm surprised at how many people didn't want to be spoiled, Somebody spoiled the origami killer for me a week before heavy rain came out, and I was fine playing it.

Avoiding the forum? Probably somewhat. I am somewhat keen to see the reception, but I wouldn't want to jump into too many spoilers.

I wouldn't say I will avoid the forum but due to my long hours on FNV I probably won't be on this section of the forums to much.

I'll be here handing out warns and bans to folks who insist on posting spoilers without tags or in the general discussion section. We moderators get extra cookies just after release. One per ban...sooooo....

Yes, I will avoid the forums at least until I finish the main story once.

This thread is ironic to me because I've been avoiding the forums for over a month now, making sure nobody spoiled anything for me.
This is only one of the few times I've visited since then.
It's a shame that there are people out there that are either too stupid or too selfish to avoid talking about spoilers.
I remember how the MW2 ending was spoiled for me a couple weeks before release.
Pissed me off like you wouldn't believe.

You could say that. But the real reason is that I'll be too busy playing the game.

How can you even physically visit the forums after installing the game?

I highly doubt someone finishes the game and tells the whole spoiling story in 1 or 2 days after the release date (If so, you basically have no life or used Cheats)

Or, you know, they got a copy early.

Happened in the Mass Effect 2 forums. And since the Social Site is really active, a lot of people got the story spoiled. I'm not going to risk it with New Vegas.

I think you'd be surprised.. <_<
Besides, the whole game is supposed to be a surprise.
Chances are there will be some [censored] who logs onto just to tell us what happens 15 minutes into the game.
Like he's "totally l33t" because it probably only happened to him and noone else that played the game.

I'll probably stop coming around 3 days before the game comes out, in case it gets leaked early and some dip[censored]s decide to ruin the game.

I probably will start soon. As the game gets closer, things start to happen..
This happens on most game forums with nearly every game.

-Less info, more lulls, people start arguing more. I don't like to be involved in that. Especially since my opinions and other things usually end up being wrong or I get complained at for them. Usually why I end up leaving most of the boards I like. I like the people here, but I don't feel like getting ripped on because I'm opinionated and not in the "in crowd." Even though I post alot.

-Reviews come out, and people rage, regardless of the rating.

-People get the game. If they get it early, it's spoilers abound. After release: Complaints about everything in the game.. I'll come back after a couple weeks and try to be helpful and learn about thingsI didn't catch before.

I will be dead to the world once it unlocks. By the time I come back to the world of the living I will know enough where I won't get spoilers.

My current plan is indeed to avoid this place so as to limit how much I find out. 'Cause yeah, you can "avoid threads with spoilers"- if you can know for certain where they are, which is iffy at best. ;)

Of course my plans, like most good battle plans, tend to have trouble upon first contact with the enemy too- I concluded 2 or 3 weeks ago it was time to bail out of here, sooooo...

I will avoid the new vegas cheat and spoilers for sure. I like going in blind and finding everything myself the first playthrough. Usually i mess up, and things dont turn out the way i plan. It can be kind of comical sometimes. Only 20 days now. I got off for 3 days that week. :P

I do assure you that the moderators will be doing their best to ensure there are no spoilers and that the topic titles of the moved threads (that get left behind in the forum they are moved from) do not give too much away. :)

Poor moderators, you'll have to actually read all the spoilers before deleting them...

Though that may not seem to be the case, I'm already trying to avoid the forum as much as possible. But I do pop in here for time to time, when I'm bored.

It's just that there are some bastards around here that seem to have a problem with putting spoiler-tags in their posts, and even outright put major spoilers in the freakin' thread-name. God, do you annoy me.
