Awesome Secret Places

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 2:36 am

I have been wondering, as big as Skyrim is, just what might they be hiding out there.
I've come across abandoned houses, awesome rock overhangs stretching out over a river, and random occurrences with caravans... Beautiful.

Here's my question,
What have YOU found, that made you stop for a moment and say, "Good Job Bethesda, Good Job."
Preferably, I would like to hear about places that have things such as Money, Gear, or Beneficial Items... Again, NON-QUEST related!

I hope all of you are loving the [censored] our of your Skyrim! Have fun! :tes:

haha that was quite a great job on their part. Even though it was pretty much The Elder Scrolls : The Hangover.

I thought there was maybe a little easter egg there on their part. I still see Sanguine wondering around that fort-type place.

There is a large fallen tree bridging a revine in front of a water fall. A picturesque setting.

Crossing over the narrow trunk seeing the fall beneath you is hairy. But .... when you cross on the tree half way through a bandit pops into thin air and asks for a toll.

Forgot where it is though, I found it exploring on the return trip from the Elder Gleen back to White Run.

I was wandering around the hills behind Riften and found a smouldering house. There was a charred body in there next to a circle of candles. Next to the body was a summon flame beastie scroll - very funny, the dude burnt his whole house down trying to using conjuring

That's far from a secret. A high number of posters already know about Blackreach. Try again by using some of the examples already provided that would normally not appear as a map pin on your world map.

Examples:

- the chasm of bones behind the waterfall.
- jumping from Bard's Point and the ghost that appears right after.
- the strange summoning circle surrounded by glowing mushrooms on a mountain peak.
- the warm patch of growing flowers in the middle of a frozen tundra.
- the frozen family inside a floating iceburg.

Good thread idea,

Started a new character last night and found something interesting about the old lady in the shack opposite Riverwood;

She has a trap door in her house slightly hidden by straw with an alchemy and enchanting station below and some alchemy ingredients etc and a note inviting a 3rd women to join/start a coven.

Small things like this and what Caljen said above are pretty cool

My favourite ones so far have been:

An unmarked (on the map), burned down house with a magic circle on the floor and a burned corpse clutching a scroll of Summon Flame Atronach :D

A statue to Talos right at the peak of a random mountain (kind of near Helgen I think) with some imperial armor strewn around it and an Imperial sword sticking into the ground. Once again unmarked on the map.

I was in a town collecting a bounty and I was stopped by a priest/ follower. He was hunting for daedric worshippers which they are in a house. Went into a house and he heard a noise and afterward a boom. He go more then he bargain for. He had a taste of my characters blade after hearing a voice. Caught in a trap now do his bidding to fetch a priest in a another daedric shrine on the other side of the damn map (more like beyond the bleeding black stump!!!!).

I found Luke Skywalker in a cave north of Winterhold, there's a skeleton hanging upside down from the icy ceiling and under him is a sword with an enchantment that causes the sword to glow blue.

The coolest thing I've found so far was three naked hunters (2 chicks, 1 dude) all bathing together in a spring. Hunter orgy, anyone?

I'm trying to remember where I saw it, but there was an unmarked area where a necromancer used his Raise Zombie on a couple of dead chickens. I lol'ed.

I was checking out one of those overlook dealies near Winterhold, and noticed nearby there was a flag sticking up out of a rocky crag. Got up there, and there was an iron helmet and a glass mace. That's not all, though. Down below the crag there was a small Dwemer building, the size of a really big phonebooth. I couldn't get inside of it (unopenable metal grates on all 4 sides) but there was a lever inside.

I should go back there and see if I can Fus Ro Dah the lever or something. I couldn't find any way to reach it. But I wonder what the hell that lever does.

its actually........... the elevator exit point for a dwemer ruin nearby, I believe.

And yes, I ran into the skinny dipping hunters, was funny :)

On my way to the last major companions quest, found a skeleton with what looked like a regimental flag(First major TES i played, can't identify it) on a pole beside it, and its sword, journal, and supply chest next to it. doesn't sound like much, but slowly walking through the ice and snow and suddenly you see That... well, i was a bit more cautious afterwards.

There're more than a few quest-related ones that are truly awesome... but that's not what this topic is for.
Other ones... i'll let you know when i find one. it's 6am and i've yet to sleep so can't think of one instantly.

If you go north of Mage college there's a hidden cave where you find an old magician and a dwarven cube. It's the best quest I've ever been and accidentally stumbled upon.
