Why would they be in? I'd find them annoying, besides, I dont need a stupid backpack, I have a black hole pip boy screen thank you very much.

I liked the idea of a backpack, the pipboy would just be to manage your gear and such, but I've not heard/seen any backpacks thus far, however the PC will most likely have a mod for that.

^ :P I'm in complete agreement with the above post.

If you have a PC then i'm sure it won't be long before somebody mods them in, so don't worry, If not................ better get used to your Pipboy :P

How would they even work? They free up your hands but they still weigh a ton so I don't see what benefit it would have in-game. I think they'd look cool, especially if I had a hermit character again. Maybe they could (for some reason) allow you to carry more weight but just make more noise so it's harder to sneak?

No such feature seems to be a part of the game... well unless there are backpack units for some of the larger weapons. I could see someone modding in a cosmetic backpack of some kind, perhaps it could also add to the max carry weight by a bit too.

So a back pack weights 10 pounds .... and now you have lost 10 pounds of your carrying capacity!!?? :nono:

Unless it a Bag of Holding .. ah, that works ... but that's another game and another time ...

If I thought about walking around in the wastes "IRL" (i know this isn't a simulation.) I'd have to have a way to carry supplies, much like caravans have brahmin. I think it would just fit the style.

You know, that or...saddlebags, being NV and all :lmao:

What empty backpack weighs 10lbs? it's made of cloth or some kind of fabric, so at most I'd say 3 depending on the pack.

And besides that, it'd just be form a realistic standpoint as you only have 2 arms, there's no way you can carry all that gear, and fight at the same time.

If you're referring to my post then no, I never said that. Having a big bulky bag of gear on your back would just make even more. Basically it's like an agility (-1).

I forgot I was even wearing my backpack until you said that. I have 2 backpacks (irl) that I carry daily. One's a strap around the front with a bag in the back, the other is a military C-Bag. Then I have a regular backpack for hiking. The only one I ever notice weight wise, is the C-Bag. That's because it's made out of steel and canvas. The other two weigh around a single pound, if not less. :nono:

But it's a game, so if you're saying a backpack would make noise, "taking the IRL approach" how can you also take the "lulz, pipboy black hole!" approach? apples to oranges friend.

That really depends on the TYPE of backpack. My school bag has an adjustable strap and the strap goes around your torso, from shoulder to waist and rests across your back. It doesn't move, or shift, or make a lot of noise. A duffelbag or a regular backpack would, though.

how can you guys complain about "no we don't want back packs they would make noise, I'd much rather shove all my gear into this black hole and be quiet", reverse logic is reversed!

Huh? What "lulz pipboy black hole!" approach? Making noise in FO3 was a factor, that's why we walked slowly when sneaking. That's why I said noise could be a trait of the backpack.

Uhh. So I was agreeing with you, genius. I'm saying backpacks would be a good idea, but they would still have certain drawbacks. I never once said that a blackhole pipboy is a better alternative.

I loved my (Blackwolf) Backpack in Fallout 3, never left Megaton without it. So I'll just wait for them to update it for New Vegas.

Well I'm sure your school bag isn't filled with metal guns, knives, and bullets that clang around. And if you take issue with the noise idea than just have it cause (-1) agility because it's so big it makes us a bigger target to spot?

Edit: And add what Robotoh just said into this post too since it applies to me as well. I want backpacks too, I never said "no way they make too much noise".

Ditto, that mod is excellent. Great graphics, great balance. One of my favorites.
