Barber confirmed

I shouldn't have watched this. I didn't watch anything or read up on anything for dawnguard except the trailer they released, but this video you posted shows A LOT about the DLC. Spoiler heavy for me :( Seems awesome though.

A stupid concession that is a disappointment to me; fortunately I can still not use it. :)

Good thing it was added into an expansion instead of a DLC form.
You can use it or not its a tiny part of an expansion pack a small feature that several of us will use even those that just get on here and say they won't use it. If you don't want to visit the person to change your appearance there is console commands to fix your appearance but its a good thing the added it in for equality amount all three platforms.

Nothing has been mentioned about that I somehow doubt it.
By the way is your Avatar Fang from Final Fantasy?

I don't need to change my characters' appearance; not everything is good in using console commands. What I find is a shame is that Bethesda bow down to a fashion. I'm pretty sure that all the other games have this feature and people take more time prettying their characters than actually playing.

It would be entirely different if this relooking was used as a way to escape a shady past but that's not what it is. When I say "escaping a shady past" I mean that completely changing your appearance and changing your name would erase all your criminal past from your stats, but I'm pretty sure that it's not what will happen.

While that would be a great thing if they could add that to the crime system in this game I still like the option to customize your character. It's great for roleplayers like myself so what if somebody takes a while to get their character to look perfect its their game their character. This is a small feature to an expansion pack that adds an option to expand on roleplaying value and that is a great thing. Skyrim lacks options and with Dawnguard it seems just from the information we have received is that er are getting some more options which is a good thing. More is more no matter how small. This is a small feature to a bigger whole and a welcome one at that.

So Skyrim is your first Elder Scrolls right I assume that by your every other game has it line I can assure you this feature has not been in Morrowind or Oblivion and not Skyrim until Dawnguard.

Your welcome.
I thought so I love those two games, people just talk down about those two games because they are new and different.

I've played Morrowind and Oblivion; I know that this feature is not in them. Roleplaying don't need any of this stuff anyway!

Do not worry. If Bethesda don't do it, it will be incredibly easy to add with but a single, simple script.

By that one line I assumed different. It's great to change the look of your characters for roleplaying reasons. As I said it increases options thus giving more roleplay value.

I am sure something like that would be added and it would be a great additional add on to what will be added in the expansion.

I'm not old at role playing but in the past decades, games didn't need this feature and we didn't complain about the lack of it. So, I'd like to know how it "increases options thus giving more roleplay value", knowing that your physical appearance has no weigh of any kind in the game. The guards and everyone will still know who you are, even if you changed your name and race. So, convince me.

I don't actually have to convince you. But I can give you my thoughts on the matter.
But here is my opinions on the matter.

It expands on diversity and options and just because you you change your hair or cut it do you honestly think if you murder someone the guards will not notice you?

I get my hair cut because I choose to not look like an idiot with the way my hair grows the sane thing applies to my character.

More options is more choice for your character on how to express themselves as individuals there anything wrong with that?

Roleplaying is being your character the way you envision that personality and you can build upon that character with things offered to you within the confines of what the game offers and your imagination and I would like to change how my persons look to reflect what they want.

When I roleplay I am that character and what better way than reflecting your character than by changing the way they look, you change your looks based off what you want why should it be different for your character.

Be that character envision what they want as they are an individual and that will make changing them more unique as a person.

This is what roleplaying is for me it does not have to be game changing or game altering its a way to expand on your character that's what this tiny feature is. Game changers are for other subjects like this games magic system needs some serious work that kind of subject.

No, but it would be quite unrealistic to go from a shaven head character, instantly to a character with full, flowing hair. Or to change your face or skin color on a whim. Or to change facial tattoos.

That said, there are times where gameplay trumps realism, and this is probably one of those times. Although I wouldn't complain if it was never implemented, it's also not a bad thing to add in.

You should make it a point to use phrases like realistic carefully when talking about a game thats lore says the planets sun isn't a star but a portal to the plaIn of magic lol

Well in my very same post that you quoted, as part of the quote even, I was sure to say "there are times where gameplay trumps realism, and this is probably one of those times.", so I'm by no means using the "realism" argument to say this shouldn't be added.

Also, as far as that lore goes - that very well could be the beliefs of the people, just like in our own world - which I'd say is pretty realistic - people used to make sacrifices to our sun, which they viewed as a god... so... yea...
