EA Being Bought Out?!

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 2:46 am

This could be good news for Bethesda. In a couple of years, I see them being the biggest publisher in this industry. We are witnessing their rise right now.
Bethesda still has alot of competition, and they won't really be in the race until they start making FPS's that compete with CoD, Battlefield, etc. Which I don't want to see happen.

Actually, Zenimax Media as a whole, not Bethesda Softworks, is ranked about 7 in terms of publishers. They are behind Nintendo, EA, Activision-Blizzard, Ubisoft, Take Two, and Sony.

When you have heaps of lemmings doing these "micro-transactions"it soon adds up.Just look at Mass Effect 3 people lap those spectra packs up,I would say a good portion of people took the micro-transaction route.
"Only 5 dollars? Sure i can afford that. just like i did the last 20 times"

You have a point, and I know how addicted people can become to this kind of thing. I played Maplestory for many years (I'm ashamed to say that's where my username came from), and I knew people that had spent hundreds of dollars on in game items. However, I was under the impression that those people were the minority by far. But I suppose if you factor in just how many people play these games, that's a rather large number of 5 dollar bills.

I think it's more of a minority of people who don't spend a lot of money in those games. I never spent any money on Maplestory, but back when I used to play almost every other player I saw had cash clothes.

I am not sure if I should feel happy or sad about this. Nexon is definitely not the best of companies, but they sure do make some nice games. Perhaps they will not be as stuck up about money as EA. Also, knowing nexon as a customer for quite awhile, if they release something F2P, it will not be like that. It will be any peripheral to the game that you wish to buy. All of nexon's games can be played perfectly fine without any worry of paying a cent.

Off that point though, the customer service of the lovechild of those companies will not be pretty...

I just will be happy to play online Battlefield games without having to use an online key.

EA wins worst company of america award. Or whatever. Nexon sees this. Then says "We got to get some of dat." This doesn't bode well.

More like

EA gets tons of publicity from the award

EA makes this up so they get even more publicity as well as make a scape goat of their reasoning behind ME Disk LC

EA wins

Any press is good press. Nexos is a PC exclusive publisher unless PC magically became the dominating market in the industry over a few months EA is too expensive for Nexon.

I know of some people in marketing who say the same thing, but it really isn't the case. Just ask http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Ratner.

Um... if it's even remotely true - what does it mean for their online gaming community - Pogo.com?

EA have done the same thing to companies in other countries: remember that for many of us, EA is that foreign publisher, and one that doesn't always seem very sympathetic towards us "foreign types".
I am aware of this. I do not like EA. I would love for them to go down. Just not to a foreign publisher.

Call me selfish but where I live the price of living is ridiculous and the wages and jobs are mostly [censored]. I live in Hawaii. Mostly a tourism based economy. There are few middle range jobs and a lot of very low poverty line jobs available as well as a few very very highly demanding and very high range jobs. With how much things cost here you need to make nearly $17 an hour with a 40 hour week just to keep your own neck above the poverty line and support yourself. Minimum wage is like $7.25. We have to import practically everything and if more money is leaving the community that will just further destabilize our economy as most of the immigrants here send their money back to their home countries already. In all likelihood I will be fine as I manage to get rather high paying jobs because of past work, being in college and my own skillset and reputation, but most of my family and friends are already teetering on the brink. Many of them(friends) are on welfare.

It is not like EA going down and garbled up by Nexon will really affect this by much but as far as I am concerned the United States already has way too massive of a debt and imports waaaayyy too many things as it is.
Now you know how everyone who isn't American feels about the fast food industry, the movie industry, the gaming industry, etc., etc., etc., etc.
:stare: :ermm:  :bonk: :teehee: :deal: :geek:
Was aware of it before hand but Hawaii is far from being anything even remotely resembling the rest of the United States.Technically it isn't even a part of the United States. It is an occupied foreign nation. Culturally it is also much much different. We also pay much more for many of those services you just mentioned. Everything needs to be shipped to Hawaii by ship or plane. No overland routes to use. Makes everything expensive as [censored]. However we got great weather and a relatively mild climate though as well as being surrounded by Ocean and beautiful beaches!!

Or check out Combat Arms where you can pay real money to have good guns in game. I actually bought Nexon cash so I could buy some stuff, turns out you cant even use Nexon prepaid cash until you hit staff sergeant rank 1 or something such as that. Needless to say it really pissed me off. I never got to SS 1 and the prepaid NX just sits there unusable.
