Being Decent

If there isn't a "decent" path on a quest, it's likely to be one that I'll ignore. I just don't enjoy doing evil.
I'm the same way, but not quite as extreme. I'll be 'naughty' in a game - kill people who are nasty - but I can't take advantage of purely nice NPCs. I did do the TG on one character, but I quit a lot of jobs if I didn't want to victimize the mark. An option to 'arrest' the bad people would be fine, but I want to be able to kill them - it's the one way to be 100% sure they don't do 'it' again. :P

Markarth, House of Horrors. Dang it starts out 'good', helping a daedra hunter search a house. Then you get stuck in the house, then you have to kill him (no option not to), and it just gets worse from there.
Yeah, I didn't like this one. I did it on both, but I waited for the Vigilant to attack me and on my 1st character, when it came time to beat the Priest of Beothiah, I plugged my controller in and let the game sit for like 30 minutes hoping Molag Bal would kill him and insult me, but that never happened soooo...

If you restart the game, guess what? Everyone you treat badly is back!
I can't justify that because they are still dead in my current plane of existence. :P I will Save, kill some annoying NPCs, and Reload every now and then for theraqeutic reasons though.

There are some things in the game I'll just never do like Boethiah's Calling and The Taste of Death.

Now, that new Assassin's Creed sounds interesting - I'm gonna' look into that one. :o

Cobra, it's very cool and I had a chance to check out the locale for AC2 and thought it was beautiful. I'd love to explore something set in Colonial America..it's so different. Maybe there will be a way if AC isn't linear. The killing part just isn't my favorite part of TES or Fallout...it just isn't - but I have to do it to play in these worlds at all. I love exploring the amazing and creative worlds they've built and Bethesda has filled them with so much that I can stay plenty busy playing the parts I do like...very happy about that too. I conjure a lot and let the summoned and my followers protect me. I do plenty of fighting but it's the self-protection kind and there's plenty of situations to do that like the dragons. I'm getting pretty good with an axe and my shield although I prefer magic. It's just a difference in taste and it would be nice to have more choices to resolve situations without killing though...that's all, not take away what's there now, just add a new choice to some quests. I would have liked to do the Companions. The people seemed interesting. :tes:

Yeah, I hear what you mean. Oblivion wasn't as bad with these things. You had a lot more choices to avoid evil actions IMO. In Skyrim, it's either be evil to some extent or miss out on some of the best stuff in the game. Honestly, the best weapons in the game come from the Deadric quests. And the Thieves Guild gives you ALOT of cool perks and privilages that make the rest of the game so much easier to deal with.
Think of it this way, if you restart the game, all those people you kill come back to life! No harm, no foul! lol

Kinda hard to work around it in AC though. You are an assassin. Your job is to kill people. I guess the new AC3 happens in Colonial America and you're suppose to be a native american assassin. I saw some cool trailers that showed George Washington leading troops. Can't wait to play this one!!

I know - I'm on the fence (no pun intended - well, maybe a little :P) about doing the TG on my good-ish guy just so I can get the Fences because I have so much crap in containers. :o

This sounds really cool, but I'll have to read spoilers first because I don't want to have to be subverting the colonial government.

I think they're referring to the oath you take when you join the Empire and then doing that thing you have to do
Spoiler
for the DB: assassinate the Emperor
