Best Brink Weapons

Alright, so I wanted to know what you thought the best ARs and SMGs in Brink are. Also, if you think the sniper's and pistols in this game are worth anything; I find that the pistols having a knife doesn't outweigh the killing power of having a SMG secondary.

Pistols melt face. Great secondary weapons. They're super accurate even when rapid fire at range.

Alright, what Pistols would you recommend then? I have been using the Galactic, but I will try the Carb and other SMG you mentioned. I have also used the kross, which I find to be quite accurate and spits out lots of bullets in a short period of time.

What are the Pro's and cons of the SMGs would you say? Or are they about all the same and balanced?

They are all balanced but I would say the CARB-9 and Tampa handle the most like assault rifles, but given their higher damage have smaller clip sizes and more recoil
The Kross and Galactic are my favorite SMGS because of their high clip sizes, low recoil, and high rate of fire
The Bulpdaun is th eSMG I have the least experience with but Stat wise has high accuracy, stability, and rate of fire

As for ARs I'm not quite sure, considering I'm usually running with a light body type. However the Eus and Rhett seem pretty decent.

As for smgs, the Carb-9 is my personal choice. The Bulda and kross are two other good ones. Mostly depends on your preference since each one is good in different ways, not one or two shining above the rest.

Pistols wise, I have to agree with Chaos. Considering I'm a light, I've mostly had to get used to pistols and it isn't bad at all. =) It takes a tiny bit of time getting used to it since you can just run forward and hold down the mouse button (Shouldn't be doing that anyways) Pistol wise the Sea has the highest damage out of the three small cal pistols. Machine pistols can pump out damage even slightly quicker than smgs, but suffer from small clips and low ammo. The revolver is beautiful. The fact that two well placed shots equals a dead enemy is definitly a plus. Also if you put a speed sling on it it's perfect for pulling it out on a 1/2 to 3/4 dead opponent and popping a shot in their chest for the kill. All of that isn't even pulling in the fact that you do get a kniw with them.

Well, that's my opinion on it. Hope I was able to help. =)

For a while I wasn't too sure what kinds of weapon combos I like, and I'm still not entirely sure either, I'm just experimenting I suppose. But currently I'm using the Gerard AR which isn't bad for sliding around a corner or parkouring over an obstacle and hip-firing a couple of bursts into a couple of enemies for some solid kills, and my secondary is the Ritchie with rapid fire because personally I think it's dangerously slow without it. And its decent on its own, but if I know I need the damage of it and the main objective is mostly in the bag, I'll switch to engineer class for the damage, buff up and get a "knockdown shot" the first revolver round into my enemy and the second a kill-shot.

The Tampa has been good to me, but I really want to try the Bull, It's stability is what makes it so attractive to me, but I just can't seem to get through the second level of the "Be more objective" challenge. I also liked the combo of the shotgun with the Tampa or the Galatic, mostly the Galactic though, I haven't really tried any of the other pistols, but I might come around to it when I've got the parts unlocked to play around with.

To my knowledge the Ritchie Revolver has the highest DPS of any secondary for a medium build, as long as you use the Rapid Fire cylinder. The problem is controlling the recoil, and the fact that the gun has horrible accuracy at medium range when you put a muzzle brake on, which is necessary to control the recoil. So at close range you can seriously mow down enemies with the Ritchie Revolver, at the expense of horrible accuracy, and having a lengthy reload time.

As for which AR is best....Rhett is the most stable of the full auto AR's, you can just hold down the fire button and hose people without losing much accuracy. But it has low ammo count and takes more shots to kill than other AR's. Euston has high damage and good fire rate, but is difficult to control. Rockstedi has good stability, damage, and accuracy, but is only semi automatic. Best SMG is not something I am sure on, I haven't used a lot of them yet.

We should really try to make sure that threads which complain about the horrible A.I. stay on the front page, to make sure the devs see them.

For SMGs I like the Buldapaun and KROSS. I tried the Galactic one round and although I could see it's use it wasn't for me. I prefer my enemies to die, not just get tickled.
The Tampa is ugly (and lets face it, this game is all about looks), and the CAR-9, while slightly less ugly, still falls under the same category.

The Rhett is definitely the best replacement for an SMG if you want to try an Assault Rifle that's a cross. As someone else said it's stability is very good, and can much better handle the use of a Silencer than the SMGs which I find have too much of a damage/range/whatever penalty.

As far as Pistols go, they're ace. If it wasn't for the pistols being so ace I would HATE being a Light character (recently switched from Medium because I find myself not taking advantage of the extra weapons) I use the Sea Eagle which is epic for damage, the Kalt is lower but in the same area however has much better sights, but on the other hand I find the Tokmak to be useless; much better ROF but the lower damage isn't worth it. I'm trying out the MPs soon, but will probably use the Hockler.

Gerund Assault Rifle as primary, and Kross SMG as secondary. It's godly.

I dont care much for assault rifles, but among the SMGs there are a few things to keep in mind...

-All SMGs have the exact same rate of fire (909 rounds per minute). The Kross does -seem- to fire faster, but it's only a difference in sound effect and muzzle flash, you arent actually firing any faster than a carb-9 or galactic.
-Spread is a pretty huge factor in how effective an SMG is, and it becomes more of a factor for players who have better aim (for a player with worse aim, high spread can actually help, believe it or not).

The Kross does significantly less damage per shot (and damage per second) than the bulpdaun, carb-9, or tampa. The reason it ends up being so much more effective than those weapons for a lot of players is because it has almost perfect accuracy (very low spread), so compared to those other weapons, even at close range, the Kross ends up dishing out higher actual damage, resulting in quicker kills. For anyone who doesnt have completely horrid aiming, in a head to head match between identical players at closer quarters, the player using a kross will win 9 times out of 10 over a player using any other SMG. It's become a hugely popular weapon because of that, combined with the fact that most of this game takes place at close quarters.

For comparison, the Kross has a sighted accuracy of 1.2. The Galactic is 1.8, the Carb-9 is 2.0, the Tampa is 2.2, and the Bulpdaun is 0.8. That places the bulpdaun as the most accurate SMG in the game, and more acurate than most of the assault rifles (identical to the euston, and lower than the gerund).

So, which weapon ends up being "the best" depends on a number of factors, including distance from target, number of targets (wherein effectiveness is determined by the reload speed of your weapon or how much ammo you have per clip), and personal aiming ability. For a player with above-average aim, against a single target at close range, the Kross ends up being best in class for SMGs and the Euston ends up as best in class for Assault rifles. Putting the two against one another, the Kross would win.
For the same player fighting a single target at long range, the Bulpdaun ends up being the best in class for SMGs, and the Gerund for assault rifles. It's harder to say which one is better overall, however - the gerund has a larger clip size and better accuracy, but does slightly less damage.

Personally, I go with the bulpdaun for everything. It does suffer compared to the kross at close range, but it can reach targets much further away with much more stopping power and accuracy than any of the SMGs can.

It's funny, there's a fairly visible stat shift when you put the High Capacity Magazine onto a Galactic, but it doesn't make a huge difference for me in handling - and I can afford to be less careful with my reloads. When I upgrade to Drum Mag though, with a much smaller change in stats, I find myself far less effective with it - I've since gone back to using High-Cap.

denkirson has the stats rounded up perfectly: http://denkirson.xanga.com/738334226/brink/
Seeing the perfect weapon damage chart he made for BFBC2 I hope he get's a more detailed list out in the next few days explaining how the different upgrades effect the weapons.

Seeing the accuracy stats made me chose the Bulpdaun over the other SMGs and the Gerund over the other ARs. Great combo.

Different weapons suit different players. Nice to know your preferences, but I'm not good with any of them.

SMG: Galactic.
AR: Gerund
Pistol: Bolgo (well, Hockler, but I have to wait for PS Store until I can use that)

A lil off topic but I always wonder about this. What is up with in game stats being so different from actual game stats? Like the in game stats place the Euston AR as doing significantly more damage then the Gerund, yet in actuality that is not the case? Why even make in game stats then? Ive been running around with the Euston silenced thinking it does more damage then the Gerund silenced and am going to have to go home and change my setups and try it all again haha

The listed stats take into account the damage per second, not damage per shot. It also assumes every bullet fired hits the target's torso area - ignoring accuracy, but accounting for RoF. I'm pretty sure the Euston, if you're hitting consistently, does damage FASTER than the Gerund, even though each Gerund shot is more damaging.
