Best Faction?

Post » Mon Feb 21, 2011 7:11 pm

The kings have more influence than the Boomers though. They are dedicated to the cause of independence and respect for others. They control Freeside and the main factions normally respond to them one way or the other in the end game slideshow

Legion can't last long at all because EVERYONE HATES THEM. Rebellion would arise, local militias, NCR would regain their strength in no time after they got that idiot oliver out of the way,

Think they would rise up against a powerful force that crucifies and kills any opposition? Not to mention after CL take over the dam NCR is nothing they get completely driven away from the Mojave and have to suffer with the loss of men and women. Anyone seen as trouble will be a slave or dead, no one would arise to fight them, no one has no one will. Legions methods are rash but they get results, how do you think they kept Arizona safe and raider/rebellion free for years?

Lord knows the BoS wouldn't stand for that [censored] for very long at all and would call arise the extermination of all legion. Not too mention, khans, kings, followers, and maybe new arising technology of factions.

Just ignore the fact you HAVE to destroy the BoS as the legion, and West cost isn't like the East cost BoS they could not give a rats ass about the people. And their power has diminished highly over the years and they could not even hold of the NCR in Helios one despite better training and weapons and are in hiding how well do you think they will fare against the Legion?

The NCR is very large, and their troops are honorful and strong.

Many troopers are disorganised and cant even hold of some raiders from their main base when Legion eradicates raiders completely. And the Legion is much much larger than the NCR.

With General Oliver out of the way Colonel Hsu or Colonel Moore would take that position and they are people that actually understand the situation.

I agree that Oliver is an idiot, Hsu is one of the two people I like in the NCR.

Legion lower ranks can't think in the field, if their commander dies then they just kill themselves. NCR follows ranks and assume order no matter who dies. With the legion in control the area would just be Easy Pickings

If a NCR ranger dies in the field the NCR recruits will turn and run as fast as they can morale for alot of the troops in Mojave is right down the toilet, look at camp forlorn hope pre-aid do they look tough and ready to lay down their lives for the NCR? NCR troopers are no where near more organised than Legion recruits.

I like how atleast half of the things i said could be possible.
First of all, the Brotherhood actually can end up working together with the NCR. They do it at the end of the game and patrol the highway for the NCR, in return they get the Salvaged Power Armor back.

If the Brotherhood of Steel is able to sign a treaty with the NCR, then anyone can. The Brotherhood of Steel was one of the NCR's biggest enemies, so i'm sure if they worked something out the Followers of the Apocalypse could too.

Also, the Brotherhood of Steel even assists the NCR in the battle of Hoover Dam. They have fought together once, they will do it again if necessary.
Now that there is a treaty between the NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel, the Brotherhood of Steel no longer has to hide underground. They can expand and grow, gathering more resources and supplies than ever.
Since the NCR is on good terms with the Brotherhood of Steel, and the Brotherhood of Steel has more supplies than they need as they aren't huge in numbers, the NCR could possibly request weapons from the Brotherhood of Steel. The NCR is after all, constantly struggling for supplies.

You're only saying that because you're favoring the Legion. We put out valid points and you can't just say "no that won't happen" You need to wise up and look at if from all points of view not just Legion.

@Sapperteet

The Brotherhood of Steel has MANY chapters. Is NV the only Fallout you've played? I just don't think that the BoS would fall victim so easily..that's just not at ALL in their forte'. The fact that Forlorn Hope has stayed alive without being taken out by just one legion patrol was suprising and shows their organization. I also think at least one Legion recruit might start to think for himself, I mean look it only took one Courier with amazing skill and will too take control of the Mojave. Think if another person didn't like what he was doing in the legion. Horror haha.

Yes I have played the original Fallout to New Vegas, In fallout 2 they where a few guys in metal armour standing outside a bunkhouse and one asks you to get Vertibird plans. The brotherhood will not be pushed around true but they are blown away from the Mojave and return to other secret bunkers away from the area. They have diminished Hugely over the years.

The fact that Forlorn Hope has stayed alive without being taken out by just one legion patrol was suprising and shows their organization.

if you talk to Dead Sea then you would know that first they have enough men to take Forlorn hope second there orders from Caesar are to hold Nelson to damage NCR morale and it's working.

I also think at least one Legion recruit might start to think for himself,

They do, they just don't question their higher ups. like a NCR recruits don't backchat Moore. The Legion are all just in war mode in the freakin' zone baby.

I mean look it only took one Courier with amazing skill and will too take control of the Mojave. Think if another person didn't like what he was doing in the legion. Horror haha.

The courier will win no matter not.

Except the NCR wouldn't do that...

and you know this how...you're not looking through all point of views. You gotta have some kinda reason to say they wouldn't...not just that they wouldn't.

Treaty doesn't mean "Hey bruh, wanna become our super elite soldiers for no apparent reason?". The NCR gave the Brotherhood back their armor and the BoS now patrols the highway.

And one thing that will certainly not happen is the Brotherhood supplying the NCR with weaponry. No change in hell.

I swear everyone who likes the BoS has no idea who they are, seriously. They aren't nice super soldiers who ride in to the rescue. They're xenophobic tribals, well armed but few in number, tied down with foolish laws and precedents, unable to progress or change or even survive, their codex, their damn holy book, condemns them.

They are few in number now, especially in the Mojave, they cannot mount an effective force, despite high grade weaponry and armour. Don't get me wrong, toe to toe they're tough but they wouldn't stop the Legion.

The Legion would win the BoHD in a heartbeat without Courier intervention, it's pathetic how weak the NCR is (a good amount of it due to idiotic leadership), they would be rolled back by the Legion for some way, the Mojave would definitely be rid of them.

As others have said, Dead Sea knows he could take Forlorn Hope, hell, across the line they could take many places. The problem is an uncoordinated attack would result in heavier loss, the NCR would be able to rally and strike back. So they bide their time and strike all fronts at once, removing the NCR's hold and forcing them into retreat. Sound military tactic, very sound.

It's the people who played only Fallout 3 and NV and haven't even bothered to read the Vault article about them.

If Caesar came to power it would not hold. If you know anything about the French Revolution, that would happen to Caesar.
Slavery has never been successful, they always end up overthrowing the leader.
People would not be happy with Caesar having absolute power over all, 99% of people hate him. The only people that like him are other members of the legion.
It would not hold, the NCR, Brotherhood of Steel, Boomers, Mr. House, Great Khans etc all hate him.

The only way it would work is if EVERYONE in the mojave was a member of the legion. Which would not happen.
Sure the legion may put all the people of New Vegas into slavery, but that would only last so long before somebody stepped in and destroyed them.

Also, if you kill Caesar (which i did), its almost official that the legion will fall apart within a couple years without proper leadership. Legate also gets killed. This leaves the legion with nobody to guide them.
EVERYBODY hates them, it would not last. The legion has no fans besides themselves.

You kill Caesar, and everybody gets lost...

Ceaser holds people through fear. You talk about the BoS and the NCR but what if the legion wipes them out and you see them everyday on a cross suffering slowly begging for death. Would you still rebel? Ceasers tactics are so ruthless no one would dare. And other factions wouldnt go in to fight the legion and the civilians of that faction fear what the legion might do to them

Slavery has never been succesful? What about Rome? That was the most successful empire of its day. Also its stupid to think all members of the legion treat their slaves badly, it probably varies like in the real ainceint rome

Right, because Fallout is set in present-day, amirite?

People would not be happy with Caesar having absolute power over all, 99% of people hate him. The only people that like him are other members of the legion.
It would not hold, the NCR, Brotherhood of Steel, Boomers, Mr. House, Great Khans etc all hate him.

And who are these people? NCR Citizens? Lulz. If the Legion came to power, the following would happen (SPOILERS!): The NCR, gone. Brotherhood of Steel, dead. Boomers, wiped out. Mr. House, dead. Great Khans becomes a part of the Legion.

None of these minor factions can even put a dent in the Legion.

The only way it would work is if EVERYONE in the mojave was a member of the legion. Which would not happen.
Sure the legion may put all the people of New Vegas into slavery, but that would only last so long before somebody stepped in and destroyed them.

Live under Legion rule or die. Your choice.

Also, if you kill Caesar (which i did), its almost official that the legion will fall apart within a couple years without proper leadership. Legate also gets killed. This leaves the legion with nobody to guide them.

There will always be a new Caesar. And the courier is not a factor in this.

Nobody likes the Legion, everybody would rebel.
You need to understand that the legion has no friends.
The great khans realize Caesar was going to put them into slavery, so not even them.

A society lead by the Legion would not last, its a corrupt way of government.
The Legion would fall, how do you think the legion would be able to go against everyone in the mojave?
They people of the mojave would not go down without a fight, the NCR, Brotherhood of Steel, Great Khans, Boomers would not go down without a fight. Not to mention if Mr. House has his army of securitrons.

The Legion is outnumber, all are opposed to their ways of slavery and leadership. There is no way these factions would go down without a fight, they would overpower the Legion. Game. Over.

You underestimate Caesar and overestimate people's bravery.
Caesar uses many wartime strategies, basic ones, things laymen know, given his opposition though his tactics are impressive, without peer.

Overestimating: look at Nipton. Each held their ticket, waiting to be free as family and loved ones burned. This happens, people wither and die in fear. It's a horrible and cruel effect but its real. Don't think everyone would simply rise to the occasion, unless you know true fear you don't know how you would react. The normal one is sheepish obedience.

Underestimation: Caesar annihilates the past. There is no NCR, there are no Boomers, the BoS never existed, the FotA are dust on the wind. It's an old and effective means of indoctrination, by splitting up the group you immediately lose the plotting cohesion, alone people are easier to break, especially surrounded by the willing broken. Forcing six to create new bloodlines is effective too, a little harder to grasp but in tribal society name and blood are strong bonds, rivalries live and die with the title of a man. Remove that title and you remove a huge part of their identity. There is no one to rebel because everyone is a member of the Legion, nothing more.

I love how this turned into like a mini anti-legion vs. legion argument.

Oh and for you people who think the BOS might give the NCR weapons in return for power armor, please for the love of god go read the vault article on the history of the BOS and their beliefs/ideals. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Brotherhood_of_Steel

I really like the NCR but sometimes I wonder if they're really the right "good karma" kind of ending?
Every quest I do for them reveals more weakness, corruption and greed in their officials and soldiers. Some of them are so apathetic to the lives of other human beings and just seem to be doing things because its the textbook morally right choice.

I feel like Independent Vegas and The Followers should be the good karma ending and NCR should be the inbetween. Just my opinion though :)

As for favourite factions, I like the NCR and Followers best. Legion is evil, but so interesting! Vulpes Inculta has to be one of my favourite NPCs. I wish there was more of him!
When it comes to smaller factions, I like Novac and the White Glove Society. I can't stand the Fiends.

EDIT: Ha ha ha I just noticed the poll results! Ouch! No love for the Powder Gangers! :P

As if, seems like you just read it in the forums...You're only opinion is that the Legion takes over until the end of time, that doesn't make any sense at all. Plus the Boomers would probably actually not get wiped out by legion and bomb their asses.

1. Becuase so many people have rebelled in Arizona.
2. So?
3. They aren't put into slavery, they are assimilated into Legion, their women are turned into baby mommas and the eldery are killed, but they are not so against it.
4. Explain.
5. They did, and they won. Legion isn't some small time faction, they are an enormous war-band. None in the Mojave except Remnants if they are reunited are of any threat to the Legion.
6. Again, Legion won, all the "resistance" was put out with ease if finishing the game for Legion, but even if the PC is take out of the equation then Legion would still win.
7. You're kidding me right? Outnumbered? From what? They are just as large if not bigger than NCR, no factions are of any threat to them, so what if people put up a fight? Then they'll simply be killed.

Join 'em or die, that simple.
